I like Opera but never used it much. I'm more of a Firefox person. With addons like adblock plus and no-script it is one of the safest and easiest to use browsers out there.
After the 3.0 release it is also one of the most RAM efficient browsers as well.
Cool themes and addons, security and speed! What more could you ask for?

Security vulnerabilities are continously discovered and (hopefully) patched in *ALL* software, Internet Explorer, FireFox and Opera included.
Just today Mozilla issued a security patch (to v2.0.0.15) for FireFox 2 fixing 12 security vulnerabilities, 4 of which were rated as
critical. If you're still on FireFox 2 and don't want to move on to 3 just yet *NOW* is a good time to apply the patch to v2.0.0.15. Given that FireFox 3 is partially based on code and architecture from FireFox 2 there are very likely a number of existing FireFox 3 vulnerabilities awaiting patches from the FireFox crew that have not yet been disclosed to the public. Expect a FireFox 3 patch soon...

That being said there are an awful lot of holes in IE compared to FireFox and Opera.

I'm personally sticking with Opera as it's the least popular of the four major browsers (IE, FireFox, Opera and Safari) and thus the least tempting hacker target.
http://secunia.com/advisories/30911/http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/k...firefox2.0.0.15Remember that timely patching is the key to staying safe on the web regardless of which browser you use. And you also need to patch up
plugins like Adobe Flash player (how many here have even bothered to update Flash in the last year or so?), NoScript etc that can, through their own security flaws and
regardless of which browser version they're used in, work as attack routes for hackers and viruses. Your browser isn't the *ONLY* software that needs security patches from time to time...

Fire fox is the best browser that I've used, you can add many add-ons and themes to suit your needs... I recommend this one that blocks all types of annoying adds:

Firefox works for people that want a lot from there internet experience.
Opera is for people that just like searching for random stuff
or youtube.
Internet explorer is for people that don't trust in downloads,
too lazy to get other browsers or don't know much about computers.
Considering that internet explorer is a windows default.

I dont like your comment. You are obviously biased agains anything other then Firefox. I know quite a bit about computers, I download a lot, and I use IE. I use IE because ive never had any problems with it unless it was my mistake, which has only happened twice in the 14 years ive used it. the only reason Firefox is "so much better" is because its more user firendly for those who don't really know a lot about what they are doing. (im not saying all who use it do not know what they are doing, just that its design is intended for that) The only real thing Firefox has over IE is add-ons. Whoopie. Nifty little things that are fun to have but serve no real purpose. The google toolbar alone is like 5+ addons in one, so Im just fine.

Yes i tottally agree with you firfox only thing it has it add-ons and the addons dont really make the inter browser a safer thing. It little thing to make your experience funner but firefox isnt the only who have it.............
i think people (like adults and older) like opera because its originial and it doesnt show off it "Widgets" like firefox does and also they grew up with the complex browser so they say it the best
some people prefer IE because they get without DL and sometimes people dont know about the others

the way i see it is, I used IE all my life, there's no problem and IF there is it's either my fault or my little brother's. the way i get viruses, worms, etc. is basically the same with others - except safari coz that was MAC OS, but the point is i tried firefox, opera, Safari, IE out of all of those i prefer IE, why? because it's doing what it supposed to without all of the fancy stuff, ooooh u got a new little icons there? ya who cares :3
ehehe sorry got a bit too crazy there, coz my friend is always getting into my nerve talking about how opera does this how opera does that. so to all ehehe no offense intended whatsoever <3

I'd prefer to use Internet Explorer. The Firefox interface is too hard to figure out. Firefox has plugins, and maybe they are useful at times, but i only use them once, or twice, since i have no need for them. Beside, I'm satisfied with Internet Explorer, its look, and style of doing things.

I mostly prefered FireFox, but as IE came with new security and tabs, I decided to use IE, as many sites do have complications with FireFox, like Flash not working, long loading times, being unable to receive information, etc.
So IE then, it is.

A semi-old Flash Player 9 has been causing a bunch of problems and crashes with Firefox. Update to the most recent version (or uninstall in install

or expect crashes, difficulties shutting down and power suspend issues. ALL that from just one plugin (hope Adobe get their collective act together one day - I still hurt over having to support PageMaker 6 in a professional environment 5 years ago (it had issues and no fixes) and now Premier Elements 4 crashes at whim without Adobe even acknowledging the numerous problems). Anyway...
Firefox 2 or 3 uses SO much less resources (mainly memory) than IE 7 and is more compliant with more standards (eg XHTML... such as it is). Easier to use, safer, more funky and smaller than IE 7...

Actually, crashes are definitely *NOT* the only reason to update Adobe Flash Player regularly!
http://secunia.com/advisories/28083/http://secunia.com/advisories/28161/http://secunia.com/advisories/26027/These are all
highly critical security updates that have been released for Adobe Flash Player 9 within just the last 12 months. Malicious and virus infected Flash animations are regularly being spammed across the web in the form of SQL injections putting JavaScript links on
legitimate sites to malicious .swf files etc etc. Just by surfing on an SQL injected, compromised
legitimate site (running *ANY* browser, Firefox or not) you're running the risk of catching an infection if you have an unpatched Adobe Flash Player.

Basically, if you go
here and it says any version lower than 9.0.124.0 then you're running a vulnerable Flash Player. If so you need to immediately uninstall it and install the newest version from Adobe's site. 9.0.124.0 is what you want right now.

This is
regardless of whether you're running Firefox, Opera or Internet Explorer 6/7.

Firefox all the way.
Safer, customisable and more standards-complaint - which is the main point for me, a web developer
I hate IE - I need to use at least 4 workarounds on every site I make because of that piece of $*@£!
@Meltedskul
No, IE has more hackers because it has waaaaaaay more security flaws, so they can get into it easier.

This concerns this poll. I use Opera because I ahve found it to be faster than Internet Explorer. Opera loaded Facebook's login page 6 seconds before IE (Facebook takes a long time to load with dial-up). It also adds a few nice features that IE doesn't have (one example being download resuming).
I have not managed to compare Opera with Firefox. Maybe a Firefox user can do that.
