This is my 1st post here on Nexus, so hello to everyone. Right on to business. I am currently on the quest to steal the Elder Scroll (again lol). I was looking around the Mages room at the top of White Gold Tower.The Room where you have to put the Boots Of Springheel Jak on, and then jump down the grate where the fire place is. Anyways as i was looking around on the nightstand next to the bed i found a note. The note was called "A Mysterious Missive" The note is from the mage who's room i am in. It is addressed to Chancellor Ocato. In the note the mage speaks of some powerful item that has been hidden away from those who would missuse it. It also says that it is within reach if ever needed. Then there is talk about it being buried in a cave/ruins NorthEast of the Island. "The Island where the Imperial Palace is". Apparently there are powerful creatures that live there .Also the mage is said to have used her magic to make these creatures guard the item. With this note also comes a key.

Its seems that this item Is so powerful, that this Mage and Chancellor Ocato have vowed to keep secret from everyone. There is talk of a network of people that they are trying to hide the item from. Has anyone else stumbled across this before? If so can you help me locate the cave/ruin.

I've never heard about that before. Sorry. But if as you say "it being buried in a cave/ruins NorthEast of the Island. "The Island where the Imperial Palace is"." you have to search in the Imperial City, maybe in the sewers.
And maybe it's from one of your mods. Tell me what mods have you installed.

It was likely something they added in for flavor, but didn't actually add to the game. There aren't any "powerful" artifacts which are just found. Almost all of them are quest related. The best you'll get from going through a cave (aside from a few special caves located nowhere near the IC) are your usual enchanted items.

Northeast of the Imperial Palace, before you cross over the water there is a place called Sideways Cave. Follow the cave system downwards. Eventually you will find a flodded underground chamber with an ancient Alyeid city. Read the Alyeid tablets that you find on the way. Eventually you will find a chest that needs a key. "The one off of the nightstand in the Mages room whitegold tower" Inside the chest you will find a Mages staff called "The Hands Of Almalexia" Its quite powerful. Also check the ruin city carefully top to bottom. There are hidden Alyeid weapons everywhere.

I'm sure it's from one of the mod you are using or you used before.

I did a little snooping in the cs myself after menrhunes saying it was a mod, and though i can find traces of both the tablets and the hidden ayleid city on sideways cave, i cant find any staff named hands of almexia, a container with the staff in, nor the mysterious missive, so it is quite likely a mod, or im hallucinating.

Wait, I don't think it's a mod. Was the container in a throne room thingy?
