Sounds and Scars

I crawl from all the shining light
even Harvest Moon
to cower in the lonely dark
knowing that the night comes soon.

Confusion drops me to the floor.
Insecurity binds my wrist.
Knowledge seeks and blinds my eyes
realization leaving all in mist.

I scream out from my rusty cage.
Weep while pulling at the lock.
Yearn for pieces of my life
but sanity just mocks.

Scars on my neck and body.
Yet more upon my mind and soul.
Too tired to care, too tired to worry
or to crawl out of the stinking hole.

I hear it whisper velvet to me
so silent but my head.
Everything you know is wrong it tells me
your only hope to wake up dead.

I need to master my confusion
and not wallow in the floor.
Stop the words from speaking clearly
needing simply just to find a door.

To breathe in and out, out and in
and take binding from my arms.
I will embrace the light and see completely
what lies beneath the scars.

I like it... A battle for sanity... Until... Would you allow me to use it in my book of poems for my mod? Actually it gives me another idea, a character imprisoned beneath a mountain passage way (a dwarven city) will have written it in a special book... Hmmm. Either one or the other, would you give me permission to use it (with your own signature at he end of course)?

I read this poem for more than a few times now. It got me impressed, it is dense and undresses the soul, but never slides toward the the shallow and the common place.

We can feel, almost sense the inner fight, there is no defeatism in the scream, there is no giving up to the caging. Instead we can see the soul mounting the puzzle, and we know her freedom is near and we realize an equilibrated soul shall emerge from the trial.

It is not a chantique to defeat, it isn't an apology to depression.

It is a anthem to life.

I like it. For me it says of our need to be whole, but are we ever truely that way?
