Area of effect enchantments: Do they work on a sword? What about area of effect unlocks? (((I made a sword called escape that should unlock doors in ten feet when it strikes, but whenever I attack with it))) Nothing happens. Anyone know why? Note that this was a sword made in game, not a mod.

Enchantments on weapons only activate when the weapon strikes a killable target. Since you can not kill or even damage doors and chests, there is nothing to trigger the enchantment to cast. I just guessing.

This is an area of effect enchantment. Wouldn't it still unlock nearby doors?

If you hit an npc with that sword and a locked door is close to him, I gues so.

I once made a normal spell which was AoE open lock, but it didn't work! I suspect that the open lock effect doesn't work properly as AoE, but I'm not sure.
