you can use Blender 3d and The Gimp for doing this thery good idea. But , it's a very original type of armour, so it will be diificult to do it. Look at tutorials !

Man I don't know how to make mods plus someone who's more experinced will probably do a better job besides the first one is a lot easier or at least it looks like it is.
