I thought here's too few activities in this forum so I decided to put up a little contest.
------
The idea is to take a photo in the day time and change it to night. The photo can be either new or you can participate with already existing one. There are however some limitations of what kind of photo it can be.
-it must be taken during a day time(obviously)
-it must be taken by YOU
-the photo's main target must be some building or other similar structure(just to keep photos comparable with each others)
-in the photo must NOT be any effects archieved with the camera(blurry, lens flares, etc..)
-the size and shape of the photo are free, however, some banner formats and similar extremes are not allowed
-and for the last one, use some common sense in choosing and manipulating the photo and to make it fit in these rules
-The deadline is 19.7. Before that, there's no limitations to editing or even changing your picture. Updates are to be made to your current participating post(unless you're new participant) and any edit or new participation made after after the deadline will not be tolerated/accepted.
------
When starting to post your works here remember to put the original picture as well. For the style, it can be realistic, cartoonish or anything between and beyond. When this contest is over, I will gather every picture from here and put them to new thread where you can vote for the winner.
For the rules, you can always complain about them and discuss if there's anything that got to be changed, however, I alone have the last word whether some pic is within the rules or not.
So.. Let the battle begin!!

Good thing you show some interest in this topic. I think I'm going to participate myself too with some picture. Actually the pic I'm going to put here is the first "real" photo manipulation I've made. With "real" I mean that I have made something else but just played with filters. However, I'm not gonna be the first one to put any picture here..

I've take the original photo in my mother's hometown, (200 km far away from Cáceres, Spain), in my past summer vacation. I don't remember exactly the hour, but it was at the daybreak.

Alrighty, they're not what I was hoping for, but here they are.
If I can I'll get some better ones.

Quick and incredibly lazy one:

The crane stands out more every time I look at it.

Ok, here's my pictures. I took original photo in Estonia's capital city(dunno what is it in English). The colors are reduced in both, though the effect is more visible in the original as it's wasn't originally so grey. That's because Photobucket doesn't allow me update larger pics than 1Mt.

I appreciate you shal.
Let me give you all a tip that may improve the quality almost any picture you're editing. Whenever possible, try to edit the pic's major areas like buildings, sky, ground or just the pic's main target and then the back/foreground in separate layers or selections or what ever suits your program. In that way you have the maximum possible influence to what the outcome will be.
I'm trying to tell this as constructive feedback and to encourage you to play with different techniques and settings and not as an offence..
I'm also putting a deadline. It will come after 3 weeks and before that, there's no limitations to editing or even changing your picture. Updates are to be made to your current participating post(unless you're new participant) and any edit or new participation made after 18.6 1:57am will not be tolerated/accepted. Updating this to the first post also.

Please pardon me, decal_mirror, I've been so busy these days and I cannot reply you until today (1st june, 23:31, sad but true XD)... A lot of thanks for your advice

. It's always nice to read some recommendations and tips from experienced people. I'm a newbie editing pictures, I started to use Photoshop in april, and as you can see, I'm not too good using it.
I'll take more photos for deadline (If I can!)

I didn't have any definitive outline for the building though. I did make the changes on separate layers (to some extent). If I had a better building picture I'd use it. I'll find one.

Here's still too few participants so I think I'm going to move the deadline a month forward to 19.7.

Damn I had almost forgotten this contest. The deadline was yesterday. Still.. there are so few participants so are you willing that I move the deadline further again or do you want me to put up the voting thread up right now? Or do you even want that as voting might be kinda pointless with so few participant?

Oh, yeah, I forgot. I don't live in Washington, much as I might like to. Kentucky.
Looks good everybody!
