I'm having problems at the beginning of a main quest when Martin opens the gate to Paradise. The two objects are there, but when he casts the spell after the dialogue, nothing happens.
I can't continue the game unless this is somehow fixxed. Is there a way to skip this quest, or force complete it?

yes, to both, but have a yet better. This is a known glitch the unofficial patch solves . But seems you already passed the point to it. So...
Since you already did all and this is a game bug you con type the following two commands at the console:
SetStage MQ15 20
COC ParadiseGrotto01
This will place you at the Grotto, turn and leave and you will be at Paradise. Continue the quest as normal.
