I ended up picking up GTA IV on a whim, which might bite me in the ass as I don't play my 360 or PS3 much. If I recall, I still have a large amount of games queued for play including: Mass Effect, Crysis, Army of Two, Devil May Cry 4-- even Portal, sad to say.

Well, if it's as good as they say, it'll be worth the wait.
Palpenious
Yeah, I jumped in here just too see if anyone was talking about GTA. Had it preordered for a while, and had a hard time thinking about anything else for the past month or so.

Pros: very good graphics, sort of feels like a return to GTA 3 not just because it's back in the same city, but it seems like it's new again I guess, lot's of little things to make it feel "real" (he actually changes the dial when you turn the radio station)

Cons: I can't play Oblivion anymore! Whenever I try I just think, "I wish I could call up somebody and run to a bar, then try to drive them home drunk"

btw doom, I highly doubt it will bite you in the ass. In all probability you will find time just to play it. If you enjoyed ANY of the previous GTA's you will be happy with this one. I still need to get through Mass Effect also, which was too good. It actually scarred me, it was so good I kept thinking it had to get crappy sooner or later, so I stopped playing.

GTA 4... well the game i want, and because i dont see it will soon release to PC they foce me to buy an xbox360. I'm aint a big consol fun but for this game i have to...
Lord Slyther
OMG! I want! I want! *drools*

I,,, want,,, that game so bad for PC. I could continue with my mods for GTA garage if I had GTA IV right now. Too bad I heard that it won't be released until 2009. Is that true?

Cheating through a cellphone while in a sign of danger? What a dumb joke, RockStar.
worm82075
I heard as early as Fall 08, Imagine that, GTAIV and F3 at about the same time. My wallet shrieks in dis approval but I will have them both.

@Souldiver yeah I did the same thing For GTA SA, bought a PS2 for the sole purpose of playing that game. Well worth it though, I got over 500 hours out of that game for about 300 bucks.

Oblivion is still a better deal as I have well over 1000 hrs in Oblivion and counting for about 90$. Now if GTA IV is as or more moddable than Oblivion, then I would have to say move over Bethesda, you have finally got some competition in the world of modding. RockStar in the MFG house.

Sadly though, I just don't see that happening and it may be a number of years before the rest of the gaming industry gets hip and makes all massive open world RPG's as moddable as humanly possible.

Prediction: By the time TES VI comes out it will be on a fully virtual system and will have thought driven controls. Don't believe it? Dig around a bit on this subject and you will see that they are only a few years away from a viable, marketable product for the disabled to productively use computers. Did you know that giant leap forward it technology that brought about the pentium 4 class processors was funded and created through medical research. Yeah, I expect the computer an gaming industry to snap up this new technology faster than you can say "My system is out of date already? I just bought it 6 months ago."
Lord Slyther
I just lost my respect for GTA IV. The cops pissed me off big time, and I have to cheat through a cellphone while in a sign of danger!

Now for my rating...

I give it a rating of 3/10.

Multiplayer, and Story : 10
Cheats : -2
Vehicles -5

Where the hell are the military vehicles when we need them?!
The_Terminator
GTA IV? Ha, I'm still playing GTA 2! Maybe I'll catch up in 10 years or so, lol.

Right. Who's dim enough to click that?

"Best Website Ever"? And when you hover over it, it gives the address as http://trap.cruels.net.

On topic: I'm willing to wait for GTA IV (PC) if only for the added perks of modding. I generally have a better time playing PC games anyway. Of course that means I now have a useless copy of the game for 360.
Luckily the responses here have been overwhelmingly positive so there's that.

Damn it! Only GTA 3 is something to be complained about but the first two.. they're The Badass Games from the past and they are still ass kicking good. If you can't handle the old gameplay system or think the "plot" was bad, then you're just [censored] and not worth of playing the youngest kid of GTA series.
The_Terminator
I lost my copy of GTA London, otherwise I'd still be playing that sad.gif

but tbh, I dont see whats with all the hype about GTA. I mean, sure, they're great games, but I've played better.

Point taken. Though I wonder why you quoted me since I was referring to his signature and not the GTA series.

I may sound like an idiot here, but does anyone know if there are plans for a GTA4 for the Wii? I don't have anything but Nintendo and a computer and I wouldn't plan on buying it for the PC. Help?
doomjockey
Seriously doubt it. There's no official news from Rockstar concerning a port. I wouldn't hold out.
The_Terminator
I wouldnt get my hopes up either - but, you never know. Theyve never annunced the PC ports of the older ones at the same time as the console releases.
socksftw
For me, GTA IV just didn't seem like the others in the series. Nothing like them. Different style of graphics, and what happened to those "Busted!" or "Wasted!" messages we all love to see?

And considering the other GTA games were easter egg heavy, in IV, I've only seen one at the moment. GTA just isn't GTA without them!

Although, It's a great game, with many brilliant and clever new features, it doesn't feel like a GTA IV.

MassiveMurderer3
I have a PS3, Xbox360, Laptop and a Computer,But any ways GTA4 is the king of games untill Resistance2 and Resident Evil5 comes out? and also they made GTA4 more relistic this time and also has any one fid the heart in the statue of happiness?
sakura357
This game sets the standards for any sandbox game to come, the elder scrolls series included.

10/10 is not a mistake.
Blacksnake89
GTA 4 was definatly fun but it let me down. The gameplay is solid, story was awsome, but it just doesn't feel like GTA. There are few weapons and each weapon class has only 2 weapons instead of the usual 3-4, there are only 2 helicopters I have seen, and NO TANKS where did my @%#$ing Rhino go??? Yes vehicle selection in a game like GTA 4 is enough for me to condemn a game. Over all I give GTA 4 a 6/10 and the title weakiest link in the chain. I thought rockstar added stuff to their games not took stuff away.
