Oblivion has always worked fine for me, i installed a couple of mods the other day and now i have a very odd sound bug. All the atmospheric noise (weather music etc etc) are there and work flawlessly. BUT, walking by people and they say something i only get subtitles, but if i actually talk to them, i get the dialogue just fine. Also, i have no weapon noises at all (drawing a weapon, attacking, hitting something) Anyone have an idea of what is wrong?

i just tried with all mods disabled, and the problem persists....... im going to try restoring my backup before mods, but does any one have any ideas? could a mod be replacing speech files? :S

Also, my game directory is making weird BSA's that im not sure should be there, as i havent seen them before....
Oblivion-Meshes.bsa
Oblivion-Misc.bsa
Oblivion-Sounds.bsa
Oblivion-Textures-Compressed.bsa
Oblivion-Voices1.bsa
Oblivion-Voices2.bsa

Could these be the sources of my problems?

No mod will modify vanila files, what they can do is putting its own files with same names as the vanilla ones
but oblivion.ini can be messed or references to early mods kept somewhere.
so, to mods that could affect sound, deactivating the esp can be not enough, if files are kept on /sounds, as example

well i just completely re-installed, deleted EVERYTHING with Oblivion in it off my computer, deleted registrys and everything, re installed, put no mods in, just the DLC and SI, and the problem still persists..... what could it be??
