On my comp i already have a 8600gt which satisfies me now. I am looking for a processor and need to know if this is a good processor since i only have like $500 to spend right now.

That should be able to run oblivion pretty good and crysis pretty good also if i overclock the CPU to maybe 3.0Ghz prolly wont achieve tht but i can run crysis on my 1.8Ghz processor now lol. I am also thinking about getting a new sound card also with left over money. But first i am going to buy some extra RAM i have 2gb of RAM now so i want maybe 4-6. I don't know much about CPUs so I can't offer an opinion there. But with towers, especially when building a gaming rig, you want to look at space for future upgrades and how easy (or how hard) it will be to keep the system cool. Make sure it has the ports you need and in the places you need them. For instance, my tower has an extra set of jacks, ports and connections on top of it which is great for me because my rig sits about 4 inches off the floor, but that would be kinda stupid for someone who has their rig on top of a desk.

Also, try to find out how big the power supply bay is because that one has a 500w and if one day you decide to add more power, you want to be sure that you have the room to add a PSU that is physically larger.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

it is 2.7Ghz and is only like 15 dollars more. After I upgrade my processor and case I am going for RAM I just want a fast computer that can run games this computer won't be strictly a gaming computer but I want it to run crysis at High not very high unless i can pull it off. Right now i run crysis at medium on 1.8Ghz processor=P I don't know much about CPU's either but i think i have like two processors because in the device manager it shows two processors both at 1.80Ghz so that is 3.2Ghz overall so I dont know but I still want an upgrade. I also want the case for a more gaming look I think it would look really cool. I need a recomended amount of RAM and things I need on my computer to have around 15 games installed and still have it go relatively fast. My friend has a full desktop of games and then he made one folder on the desktop for his games so he has ALOT of games in total. Thanks for your help guys.

When upgrading your CPU, make sure that the new one has the same pin-count / socket-set as your motherboard. Hopefully one of the tech guys will through in their advice before you're ready to order. Newegg does not process orders after 5pm on Friday night so try to wait a day or two, maybe someone can help you more than I can.

No mention of Motherboard here. Are you planning on using your current board? If so, does it support the processor you are looking at? And will it fit properly in the box you are thinking about?

The case looks like it has plenty of room. I'm not a big fan of the stock power supplies included with cases - or all of the lights all over the case. Unless you are trying to impress your buds with the lights and fancy front cover, it's just a box to hold the parts. Personally I spend all of my computer time looking at the monitor and not the case. The Wow factor will wear off in a week or so. Then you are stuck with a blue glowing box. This is Ok if you need a night light. But sux if you have to sleep in the same room with it and need to leave on all night to do a virus scan and defrag.

lol at the night light. You are right about the lights and stuff but i found that case cheap and I am going to do several upgrades over the next few years and right now ive been thinking and would those processors i posted run on 32bit vista because if not then i will have to spend 110 dollars on vista 64bit and then spend more money then i intended. So here is what ive been looking at recently.

Well, Its looks all fine except two. Possibly three things.

First, You don't have any RAM on that list. Very major problem. This is a good set of RAM.

Second, The motherboard on there (pretty nice one) does not support AMD processors. Only Intel ones. I would like to recommend this one. Its slightly more expensive. $200 USD. But it is way faster than the AMD one you posted.

Third, This isn't really a big deal. But I would suggest buying a new power supply. Yours should be fine. But with only 500 watts you don't have alot of room for say, a couple hard drives. Or two video cards. Or the insanely bright case.

As for Vista 32 and 64 bit. 32 bit runs on every processor made by Intel and AMD both currently. 64 bit runs on most. But just stick with 32 bit. There really isn't a difference. Some minor things. So stay on 32 bit. And spend that money on the processor I posted!

I agree with IamBatosai on the processor and Vista points. Unless you were going for a hardcore system their is little reason to get the 64-bit version, and the processor is much better.

a question that pops up in my mind is why would you want vista in the first place ?
apart from a serious drain on your system rescources vista is still quite buggy bloated an dover priced for what it is and it breaks compatanility with older games
there is at the moment nothing released that absolutley needs vista over xp you are better off sticking with xp sp 2
vista is a transition system much like windows 2000 and ME were microsoft has already confirmed work on windows 7 which wil be released in 2010\2011 ( hopefully, vista should have been released in 2005 as well )
i ma running windows 2000 (which is pushing 9 years now ) and apart from the sims 2 stories and vpc there is nothing i encounterd i cant run with in the parameters of my wonky old p4
