Alright, I've killed for the Dark Brotherhood, stole from the rich in the name of the Thieves Guild, protected the people as a vigilante of the Fighters Guild and slain necromancers and vile creatures on the behalf of the Mages Guild. I've played the Storyline probably three times with different characters and skills - and all has been fun!
But now.. what now? I've tried Shivering Isles and I wasn't that impressed really, and I've played that through aswell.
Also, Knights of the Nine Divines wasn't "too" fun, but it sure kept me going for a while - but now I've run out of things to do in Oblivion.
I've never been really high level on any of my characters (as i've totally ignored to keep track of skills and such)
so maybe there's some cool content at a bit higher levels, or does it just keep on being boring with the same old menial tasks
like "kill him and get this" quests?
Do you guys have any awsome recommendations on quests or perhaps even sub-storylines?
I'm really in love with Oblivion since I started playing it like a year ago and now that i've hooked
up my PC with some nasty poo (Now I can play with 1680x1050, 4xAA and HDR!) I'd like to know
if there's anything left to do after the main content!
(Walking around cities and getting small tasks and sub-storylines to do? Yeah, done most of em.
Some I've done:
- Glarthir, the paranoid one.
- Thornir and his shop.
- Corrupted guardsman.
- Skooma raid.
- The women of Anvil that rob men of their goods.
Can't think of any more right now..

I would also definately suggest
The Lost Spires. It is a huge, really cool quest line, and once you have finished you can sell all of the stuff you get for massive amounts of cash. Also, if you are up for it, there's always
Mount Archon. I didn't really like it because it was so different, but if you are going for a really big, extremely different quest line then get it. Also, have you gotten all of the other DLCs besides KotN? They are all short, but there's always something to do and they make really cool add-ons.
Edit: Looks like the Mount Archon guys have made a
special edition version. So if you were interested, you could pick which one you wanted to play. Or you could play both.

I've tried a quest mod or two before, but most of them are too "out-of-story" for me. It's so obvious in some cases
that the mods are in fact not a part of the main game, it's more like a "fun addon" rather than some content addition.
I'll try the mods you recommended though, espcially that horror one, seems fun.

Yeah, this is very true. A lot of mods and quests are very non-fantasy in their nature. I would love more quest mods that fit in well with the game world, to be honest.

I would really recommend Hoarfrost castle, Glenvar Castle, and Verona House bloodlines if you're looking for a decent story. They may not be to your liking(or they could be) but hey, no harm in looking right?

dude you remember 5 sidequests? mmh... maybe keep looking before you go for mods... there are like 50 of them... i played oblivion from the start and im still finding new quests lol
maybe try the daedric ones for a start... the items you get offer quite some fun... also there are quests like the "goblin village problem whatever quest" where you learn to steal their totems to make em run trough the countryside on the hunt to get it back... makes good fun if its placed in your castle
quest mods have one major flaw... the voices... you can put some in but youll never reach the immersion of the maingame as the voices will be different from ingame voices not to speak of the mostly lousy quality of the recordings.

Try Tears of the Fiend... There is no voice acting but it promises a good story line, along with Thievery in the IC, an awesome quest, I was shocked with the great storyline and a little twist at the end... And it has a terrific voice acting I was shocked to hear the characters speak... And try to search other towns and little villages throughout Cyrodill, thare are many many little tiny quests hidden there...

Remember, create your own stories for yourselves. Make a back up save and start hacking away at the people of the IC, when the going gets tough make a run for it. 20 gaurds running after you looks quite cool. Then run into a dungeon and use a invisibility spell. They hack apart the enemies and you take the loot;-)
Edit:Sorry it's not typed well, I typed it while surfing the net on my mobile and mine isn't the pda type mobile.

I would recommend the Cyrodiil Upgrade set of mods to you. It fills in a lot of holes left in the vanilla game, adds lore and storyline, and improves NPC AI 500% (NPCs will be seen all over Cyrodiil vs. one or two locations).
(1) Origin of the Mages Guild
(2) The Elder Council **
(3) Elder Council_the Temple of the One
(4) Kvatch Aftermath
(5) The Necromancer
(6) Kingdom of Almar
(7) Fighters Guild Contracts
** - a work in progress. You can join the Imperial Legion and work your way up to Captain, you can collect taxes (& go good or evil on that), and rise to being a Duke. This mod will be close to completion once Giskard codes in the capability to rise up & become the Emperor of Tamriel.
I also recommend "Midas Magic Spells of Aurum". Hidden quests to find, new worlds/dimensions added.

It all depends on a few things - the person's recording equipment & software, their acting ability, and how much they cared about it.
It's difficult to attain studio-quality voiceacting on a PC (much less a laptop). You need better hardware like you find in recording studios. Bethesda had this, but modders (on the whole) do not have access. So it's a bit unfair to hold a person's work done on a home machine to the standards of a game developer company.
There is voiceacting in Giskard's mods. It cannot match Bethesda-quality (hardware limitations), but it isn't hard on the ears at all.
Oh, and remember this also - the voiceacting you hear within mods is strictly volunteer work. Money doesn't change hands. So a mod author is dependent upon how well the person can voiceact, as well as how excited the person is toward the mod.
Edit - in the Mages Guild & Elder Council, Giskard makes some good use of voice-changing effects. One is a disembodied voice, and the other is the voice of a huge apparation in the Elder Council Chambers.

i know myslef how hard it is lol... thats why i ask... personally all mods i tried even tho the authors put alot of work in the voices (myslef included) just dont work out well...
was hoping maybe these big name mods would have somone in team with access to recording equipment and be it just a silent room with acoustic cushioning and a good mic (that kind of room teen bands play in for example)...
i gonna try giskards mods then next time i have some bliffs laying round... playing somehow just aint as much fun if youre not beamed...

lol that smiley rocks

Great! Like I said, I'm running all of them, and I appreciate the fact that Giskard took the time to dig into the official game lore, and finish what Bethesda did not (the Elder Council, for one. How can you have a society without a functional government?).
Just make sure before you start a mod that your character is not in the location that's being modded. Very important for his mods, as they are quest-mods.
Also, take your time on the descriptions, as the unzip location is \Oblivion (not \Oblivion\Data). I use OBMM, so I took advantage of any of his files that were in OMOD format.

You're STILL finding quests?!! I can't find anything new at all. Mind you my map looks completely odd because I've found everything and icons are everywhere. Modding seems the only option.

The above are good, but you are forgetting to mention that not all are currently available. He can only play OMG, TEC and CURP.
Fighters guild contracts, Almar, The necromancer and kvatch aftermath are not available for public. That is only not to confuse people so they ask the same question again why can't i download all mods.

Try
Otherworld. It's still only in it's beta phase, but it's still very good.
Enter the Shinobi is good if you're at a high level and want a challenge.
You should also take a look at the
Top 100 on TESNexus.
Damarask,
Pirate Isles,
Apophis Armory of the Silver Dragon, and if you're interested in large scale mods,
The Lands of Solstheim-Vvardenfell-Mournhold is worth a shot.

A quick update. Fighters Guild Contracts is now a part of the Cyrodiil Upgrade Overhaul and The Necromancer is available on Nexus again! And The Elder Council is a ready-to-play mod.
CURP stands for
Cyrodiil Upgrade Resource Pack and it's not a mod by itself. But it is needed by all available Cyrodiil Upgrade mods:
