Just a thought and wonder. If you were put into the World of Oblivion, well in Cyrodill, what kind of life would you live speaking as in which god would you follow or would you follow any of the religions? What occupation, customs, attractions, race?

If I was in Cyrodill, I'd definitely be a Breton because they seem like the borderline of human and elf and plus Breton was my first class. As for an occupation, I'd either be a inn keeper, or a hunter or some sort, you know like one of those REAL men with the hairy chests and big-ass muscles who wrestle bears onto the floor! As for religion, thats a give and take.

anyway, thats just me. what about you?

No, that's lumberjacks. If I were in Oblivion, I'd be a lumberjack, definitely. After all, lumberjacks are know for wrestling bears...and searching for traps. I would be a dwarven lumberjack, but dwarves don't exist in TES, so I guess nord would work; they're just like dwarves, except tall, blonde, and missing a strangely Scottish accent. My religion would also be THOR.

I would probably be a Breton-Nord-Imperial (is that even a word?! wacko.gif ), because I feel a strong connection with "magic" (I guess you could call it that; i's more like a life force, you know what I mean?) - that would be the Breton part - I LOVE the cold weather, and I am quite well built biggrin.gif - the Nord part - and I have a charming personality wink.gif - the Imperial part.

As for my class, I would probably be a Traveling Mage-Scholar of some sort... happy.gif
Lainge
I'm going to take it that the races are only the playable ones, and I would have to go with Imperial.
I would be an ayleid artifact treasure hunter. But there is no way in hell I would travel alone.

Julianos, gotta love history.
Or Zenithar, always back the winning team...
Malchik
I think I'd like to build boats. I know there are no boatyards in Oblivion but there must be some. I'd live in a town to combine the pleasures of cosmopolitan company and an outdoor activity. I'd probably be quite fit (unlike the real me).

By Ysmir's beard, no worshipping graven idols for me though.
Mythic_One28
As I love being a mage in Oblivion i would definately be one in real life. As for religion I would almost certainly ignore it as I'm agnostic in real life practice (don't beleive in religion). Realistically, I would have to base my career on my skills, but what the hell, world domination for me. biggrin.gif

FYI, I think you mean Athiest. Agnostic means having a philisophical view on religion and such...

Because I don't want to spam this thread, I will add this: Yay! Another magic character! But what race would you be (Mythic_One28)?
doomjockey
In Tamriel? Since I certainly wouldn't be the protagonist, I'd probably be in foreign trade or exploration. I'd love to set sail across Nirn: on deck humming old sailor's songs of Cyrus in a still night beneath Masser and Secunda; gazing into the rolling waves wondering if my motherland Yokuda gazes back at her native son; the pounding in my heart as mysterious Akavir grows on the horizon; and the cheers of my crewmen as White-Gold Tower rises higher and higher, inevitably, above the Divines themselves.

I'd be a breton mage and live in kavatch (i asume teh storylines of each guild would be finished ?) any way so I'd live in teh newly rebuilt kavatch and be a mage (think in real life you are not bound by teh game mechanics so mysticism would ba a great skill anyone come at you and you fling em into a rock screw fireballs) i would dabble in alchemy to sell teh potions for cash biggrin.gif then every now and tehn i would travel abit go to the AU (if im aloud sad.gif )or one of the other citys maybe join a adventurer group and go cave/ruin raiding make more cash. thats about it ......

Wow I hope english isn't your first language...

Kvatch was one of the best fortified cities, so after it being rebuilt I suppose that it would be a great place to live. Never thought of that...

I would WANT to be exactly what I am. A hot, kick-butt mage. (as apposed to real life middle aged, gravity suffering mom! ha ha) As for religion--is is just me or does the whole divine nine thing lack---oh..I don't know...warmth?
So much magic and stuff in the world and for the most part (in vanilla anyway) the Nine seem to be very distant. I like up close and personal interaction with my deities. or at least back handed like the old man god in the Dragonlance novels?

Yeah. Like with the Daedric gods. You get reactions from them, so you KNOW they exist. They're not always good ones though... unsure.gif
sanada_yukimora
Hmm...I'd be an Imperial, and I'd be in the Legion. I'd focus on sword and shield combat, and aspire to one day be a member of the Palace Guard. I'd own a home in Skingrad, which had been in my family for around a hundred years or so, and a vacation home in...Bruma, just to go up and see the snow when I was off. I'd also make it my goal to protect the citizens of Tamriel by rooting out dens of Vampires and bandits along the roadside...for the most part. I would also follow the religion of the Nine, I guess. I imagine I would be attracted to Dark Elf females (if that's what you asked). ~Shrugs~ I guess...for the most part.

And Lisnpuppy, you rule! Fizban rocks! It's awesome to find someone else who's read the Dragonlance books. Check out The Legend of Huma in Tales Volume One. That's how my Oblivion life would be.

Hey....a reaction is a reaction. Be careful what you wish for and yadda.....I know it is a weird line to tread for video games to explore the religious side of things, but they have all these beautiful cathedrals and such. There is this wonderful magic system and the Nine are large in part---absent. I think it would be interesting to explore the more "Greek" side of deities---like if you piss them off they come after you personally or if they take love of you--they come after you personally. I think that your deeds and fame/infamy should count for more that just if you can get healed at the alters.

Sanada yukimora,

Thanks for saying I rule (har har). I think I read those books when they 1st came out (god am I too old for this?)
FIZBAN! That is his name--I cant belive I couldnt pull that one up! Must have killed that brain cell! I loved him! He was fun, goofy, powerful, loving and right there in it! And that Fireball spell! HA!!!
borris1286
Hmmmm, Definitely a Breton.....Not too short(imperials) not too tall(nords) and not quite 100% human either....A dash of magic to the blood.

I would most definitely be an alchemist of sort, probably not an expert or master at the craft. I small town potion brewer, making things to help the weary traveller out here and there, be it healing potions, water breathing potions, rat poison(maybe a more potent poison under the counter)

I'm thinking Bravil might be an ideal place for someone like me to open shop, or one of the small villages that surround the Imperial City, I'm not one for cold climate, like to keep it relatively warm.

Religion, If I dont flow in with the Imperial Church, i would probably have a small shrine dedicated to one of the Daedric princes set up somewhere in my house, nothing big or fancy. No doubt, I would go with a somewhat "nicer" patron. Possibly Azura.

I'd be an eccentric enchanting-alchemy wizard/mage, friendly and helpful to the novices, while maintaining a healthy dose of eccentric peoples' humor. I suppose I'd be a Dunmer if I take into account the belief in tradition shown by Dunmer people in Morrowind. That would sum up pretty close to what I'll be in a few decades, technology-friendly chemist with all the attributes described. tongue.gif
sanada_yukimora
When I think Imperial, I think Boromir from Lord of the Rings. He may be kind of short, but he's one hell of a fighter and he's strong. I'd gladly trade height (which I have: I stand around 5'10'') for strength and fighting spirit (both of which I have.)

Anyways, if you guys haven't already, you should all totally read Dragonlance. Lisnpuppy, don't forget that Fizban was Paladine, the God of Honor. If I had to pick something out of Dragonlance to be, I'd be a Knight of Solamnia. =D I have a Roleplaying character who's a Knight of Solamnia, actually.

I love Fizban but he knew that it took all kinds. I always liked Raistlin. He was the most interesting and in the end I think he had his redemption.
I think my character is more the Harry Dresden type.
Please tell me you know Harry?
Someone should make a Bob the Skull mod for Oblivion.

Back on topic! (sorry)
I think I would be a ark elf theif like mage (weird?) just because you can be bad but not to good people? Liek only steal/assasinate those who deserve it?

Seriously. We need to start a Dresden Fan Club here.

I'd be.... a..... guy.... who..... does.... stuff.

Breton Spellsword. Would be awesome.
sanada_yukimora
Honor, Justice, Pride, Loyalty, and Strength for me. In real life, I took like, a one hundred question quiz on what I was in a past life and I got 'Knight, Samurai, Legionnaire, Guardian' basically. I embody everything that is hell bent on protecting the weak and doing what is honorable. But it also said that I have a tendency to think about how much fun being evil would be...and I do. XD

Anyways, I say a big, expansive mod based on LOTR would be great. I love and am currently re-reading the books (which I do once a year every year), I have all of the games for the computer (the Battle for Middle-Earth series) and I'm working on getting the sword of Gandalf. o.o Replica, of course...I'm such a LOTR nerd, but frag it. I like what I like.

But yeah. Knight, Imperial Soldier, Protector of the weak here. And lover of young silver-haired Dark Elf women. <.<;;

i'd be a thief with absolutely no weapon skills only h2h, then i'd Rob all of you good hearted imperial gaurds (aka) POLICE. and breton's. (butt kissers of oblivion) you surely could'nt detect me to beat to death ( you'd deffiently kill me quick if you did) and you deffiently couldnt lock me out.

gaurds would go to work wearing breeches because i lifted their police issue legion armor.

ohh yeah, i'd sling skooma on the side to pay child support

it seem's heartless but dont it seem the most efficient also?

hmm, i'd be a lich. i would have been a half dunmer, half nord before i turned myself into a lich. i wouldnt be one of those skimpy outfit wearing liches either, i would have a full suit of green tinted platemail smile.gif i would also kill anyone that interrupted my studies with my katana (enchanted with electicity, charged with the souls of ignorant mortals,) skeletons, zombies, and fire based spells (maybe a meteor or two!)

I would never have a permanent lair, staying in one place for only a year at a time while still learning anything valuable about the area, and their magick.

also, mushrooms. need i say more?
madman123456
If i would be teleportet to Cyrodiil, i would be an Inventor. Of course =)

I could "invent" the Wheel. biggrin.gif

I could "invent" electricity. Or Steam Engines. I know a thing or two about refining Oil, so i would "invent" Petroleum. Well, i suppose this has been done already. Lampposts in the Streets everywhere arent "fueled" by magic, are they?
What hasnt been done is the Internal Combustion Engine.
With the best Minds on Cyrodiil being brought to the right Track, they could use Magic to speed up an industrial Revolution. With Neck braking Pace, People will invent new revolutionary Things.
And within my Lifetime, People will sit in front of their Computers, playing "Oblivion" biggrin.gif

But thats Lame.
Well, i suppose i could be in a world with Oblivion rules, so i cant actually build something.
As a normal human being who doesnt want to die i would roam around in the City i first "got in", maybe i got "teleportet" there, and then pick up everything. Not like the stupid Beggar Morons. "A Coin, for an old Beggar?" Look in the Crate right next to you!

I would pick the Plantlife clean and mix Potions.

Someday this will get tiresome. Before i leave the City, i would train like my life depended on it. Because it does!

When i finally have the Guts to leave the City, i would travel on Roads. I could follow a Legion Horseman around. He kills Monsters and Bad Guys, i help (and train my fighting Skills some more) and i get the Loot.
Someday, i get to be the sole supplier of Armor for the nobles of Cyrodiil, the Weapon smiths only sell Crap. I am the only supplier for Glass, Elven or Daedric and Ebony Armor.
All collected of dead Bad guys killed by Imperial Legions =)
In the long run, i'll get something that would be considered "lame" in a Game. Like 100% Reflect or better yet, 100% Chameleon.

I've had the same thoughts ..

I know I'd be a female, probably Breton, and I would be an 'adventuress' type. Not like the game hero pc, but someone who traveled the province helping people and (hopefully) getting paid a few Drakes for doing it. I know I'd be roaming the dungeons for treasure and selling the stuf to the various merchants.

I would most likely live in one of the small villages or have a place off by itself somewhere. I would definitely be single. I would go to the Imperial City and get buzzed sometimes, have fun with the locals, and probably spend some time in jail.

I know I would have a horse, and if I had a place to do it I would have several.

If the Main Quest became real, I would avoid it and the Blades, the Legion, and everyone else involved. The 'Hero' can handle it .. he doesn't need me.

smile.gif
socksftw
I would invent the gun, the RPG, and just incase, the nuke. And I would be a woman for certain reasons tongue.gif

Okay, now I've gotten that out of the way, onto the serious part.

I would probably be argonian, purely for the fact that I can breathe underwater, and am immune to poison. And human skin bores me so...

I would still go for the fame, glory and heroism path, but I would also have a second identity, similiar to the gray fox, who goes around stealing, and even an assassin.

I would rebuild Kvatch, and make my own argonian underwater city.

But you just gotta lova Akatosh!

Akatosh FTW!
globiumz
I would be a badass dunmer assassin. I would pwn people all the time, sneaky assassin creed style with some really cool combat moves. I would spend my time travelling around Tamriel and other continents while serving Sithis.
AfroSamurai
Bosmer. All the f-in way. I would set up an assasins guild, and that last guy would be in it biggrin.gif . And, we would eventually gain control of Cyrodiil. Everybody would kneel at our feet. It would be freaking awesome thumbsup.gif
bluekatt
if they were a real part of the world of oblivion i'd be a tabaxi easy enough
as far as a job goes most likley a mage in the mages guild
and no particulair religion

Id be a mudcrab. Theres not much else to say.
Tchos
Well, I love elves, but the vanilla elves are mostly butt-ugly, so I've been playing as a mystic elf from the mod. If I can't be that, though, I'd go with Breton. And I'd be a mage, all about the learning and study mostly. But for fun, that's what the religion is for. I'd have shrines to both Dibella and Sanguine, and probably mostly hang out with the Sanguine followers in my leisure time. You know, the ones who say "I joined for the parties. And stayed for the parties." "It all feels good. It's all fun. Why not?" "It is a place of celebration for us. We dance, we make love."
talonboy93
REDGUARD, AKATOSH, IMPERIAL LEGION SOLDIER
Timedevour9843
Wood Elf, either assassin or thief, definately. ANd... Im not sure which of the Divines I'd follow, maybe a Deadra even... Yeah, but something stealthy. Although, during the day I'd be a salesman or huge property owner, that way I have money to begin with and buy awesme tools and stuff like that.
lolassassin101
Id be a half-Dunmer half-lich Necromancer Lord! and have an alyeid ruine that forms to my will like shivering isles to sheogorath. and Id more probaly support things like the DB, theives guild, the mythic dawn and merhunes dagon but in my own way (giving them alil help with under cover)
Wingfoot
Same thing I am in the game! A scoundrel, Han Solo style! A real scumbag. Screw stealth, I never liked all that sneakin' around. I run in hacking and slashing. Just like I would if I was really in Tamriel!

And none of that Fighters' Guild crap, either. Those guys are just Imperial Legion wannabes. I'd go my own way, probably having a base of operations (A.K.A. rundown shack) in Anvil, but only return there to sell my loot and kick it for a while. Traveling through Cyrodiil ain't like dusting crops.
Although my character wears armor for the armor bonus, I'd never wear armor. Just worn leather vests and cloth pants.

And as for religion, as I told the old man in the jail cell, I'm not on good terms with the gods. I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen anything to make me believe there's one all-powerful force controlling everything. After all, hokey religions and ancient weapons are no substitute for a good sword at your side.

(Spot the Han Solo quote!)
ApocalypticBiscuit
i would be a fat, unemployed mage who summons creatures from the underworld to cook for me and get me a beer.
Occasionally I would take out my akavari katana to open up a bag of chips....
HOW EPIC IS THAT!?!?!?!?!
nachtefuchs
I'd be a Breton Illusionist. Paralysis, Demoralise, Command Humanoid... ah, fun times. Treyvond wouldn't be to fond of me biggrin.gif
Daedra summoning would be a close second, and I'd go for the more intelligent Daedra (Dremora, Winged Twilight etc...) over Scamps and Clannfear.

As employment goes, by day I'd be a specialist alchemical ingredient collector travelling far and wide to collect whatever my contractors request. By night.. well... see my choice of religion and the Poem tongue.gif

As for Religion, I'd keep with the Nine's teachings for the most (read: Public) part, but I'd really be a worshipper of Azura, Meridia and Hircine.

From Dusk to Dawn I'd hunt
the ones who touch with death
as a creature of the night.
With speech as growl and grunt,
I'd bring forth their final breath
Until the break of light.
darkcloud372
I'd be an Argonian. Despite my slight phobia of deep water in real life, in Oblivion all i'd do is swim. Everywhere.
I'd build a makeshift home near/in a lake, and probably be a hermit ot bandit. Possibly a thief, I do like stealing things.
For the hell of it, i'd be insane.
And i'd constantly be trying to prove that the Nine Divines never existed.

...Yeah im sad. sweat.gif
dezdimona
I'd be an Elf of course. Pretty and high priced! whistling.gif
