It's actually better if you don't use it, because the mod manager will overwrite anything, which could be very bad. If it overwrites the wrong think, it could mess up your game leaving you searching for hours to try and find what's wrong.
No. Oblivion Mod Manager is one of the most recommended. OBSE launcher is another. And I suppose if the Oblivion launcher can do the trick. But no, it did
not write over anything as I installed it. Only thing you need to get it running is the Net Framework 2.0. OBSE Launcher can be useful when installing mods and running them with OBSE. The Oblivion launcher, I have no idea. I never tried it before. Anyways, that said.
