TesNexus is based on the free exchange of ideas and materials in support of "The Elderscrolls Community", and as a rule does not censor any uploaded images or materials. The basic premise is this; If we were to remove a file because any individual or group of individuals find something offensive, the site would eventually have no files available for download, as someone will always take offense to whatever is offered.

With the above being stated there will be exceptions, the most inportant is violating the Terms of Service for the site.

The Admin, Staff and Moderators will take whatever immediate action as they deem necessary at the time to preclude a situation becoming disruptive to the operations of the site. This will in most cases result in the file page in question immediately being set hidden from public viewing, to allow the staff to make a determination as to the corrective action that needs to be taken. The owner, admin, staff and moderators reserve the right to remove any comment, image, file or member that we deem necessary to ensure the smooth and stable operations of the site.

These actions are not open for debate and as you may feel you have a right to freedom of speech TesNexus is not required to provide you with an open platform for your oration.

If you find something that you feel is offensive, please do not respond, retaliate or fan the flames. Use the "Report" button so appropriate action can be taken.

Does that mean the removal of game-based pornographic content?
Firesea
I would assume that is covered under the "adult content". The report feature is probably there to flag content that is illegal, hateful or would otherwise expose the site to IRL legal action. To a lesser extent it will probably reduce flame wars as well.

Well, to say the truth, "Terms of Service" covers pornography as well, as I understand. But whatever. I would be truly grateful to site administration if separate adult content filters would be made for files and images, though. Please?

You can keep from seeing adult materials/content by changing your preferences by going to your members page, under preferences and selecting the option to block adult content.

That will block the content from viewing if the adult content flag is set, if you find one where the flag is not set, use the report button on the file page or the forum page requesting a moderator enable it.

The same should be said for the internet in general.

Well said.

Was there something in particular that prompted this topic?

I couldn't agree with buddah more. Flaming is a waste of space (and brainpower!), people should be able to create whatever they want and share it with all who think the same way. to sum it up: YOU CANT PLEASE EVERYBODY EVER!

As a point of accuracy, the terms of service only refer to "obscenity" or "sexual content" (the only terms which I could construe to mean pornography). However, as with pornography, these terms are completely relative and thus in this case means in the opinion of the site owners/administrator.

As the they have deemed to allow it (but in the form of an "adult only" section) they have demonstrated that they have no issues with (in an official capacity--I make no statements as to their personal opinions) it else they would have just removed any content outright.

If anything I simply assume the terms of service should be updated as they are obviously no longer accurate (for the better in my opinion).

While there is much that could be labeled pornography on the site I think it is a relatively small percentage as I don't think any of the many many nudity mods are pornographic in nature (most go well beyond in areas such as complete body rebuilding and clothing modifications).

Adult content does not inherently equal "bad", but in my opinion a very helpful tool so that I don't pop open images like that while I'm at work without realizing what they are wink.gif

Quoted for truth. smile.gif

I have taken to tagging most of my stuff as adult now, whether it is or not, and I have to say, it seems to be quite an effective tactic. The number of 'omg teh gay' comments on my content has reduced dramatically as a result.

I shall continue to do this as it seems to work well - we girls are just as entitled to enjoy opposite sex eye candy as the lads.

Some wise words have been spoken. I myself have little time for overweening censorship and Big Brotherism - living in the surveillance capital of the world, the UK, as I do. However, as webmaster of a site that allows adult content, I have to say, you do have to exercise a little sense and it is naive to think that "anything goes". And especially with a site like this where you do not have to state you are 18 to join. When we set up our website we were astounded at just how puritanical US law is compared with in most of Europe, and that's why we decided on adults only membership. (If people lie about their age, we can't be held responsible.)

I think legally you are on much dodgier ground with..ahermm...mods that have to do with hot beverages, shall we say, than you are with plain nudity. Anything that's racially or religiously sensitive or offensive should be considered for a red card too. Don't just get hung up on the pornography issues. Along with rights come responsibilities.

As usual, the people who make this site functional continue to keep a level head, react appropriately, and most of all, thoughtfully. Not that my opinion means anything, or has any impact on anybody's chosen course of action, but I wanted to say "grats" to the site team for being mature enough to see the big picture and make an honest and thoughtful approach to handling it fairly and with clear boundaries.

If you don't like it, take your files (or get them from) somewhere else. The internet is a big place, and as he said, they are not under any obligation to help you in any way to exercise your right to freedom of expression. I doubt you are going to find someplace that supports that freedom as well as this site (with regards to modding), but it is an option.

As for non-sexual theme mods...as distateful as I would find it for someone to make a "level up by beating your wife" mod, the way I express that distaste is not downloading it. You have to have a pretty big ego if you think anything you say against it on the file thread is going to have any moral impact on the creator. If you download a mod entitled "happily married" and the screenshots and readme do not mention anything about beating your wife, and then you play it and BAM your beating your wife, that is a whole other thing all together, and you use that report button. Flaming does zero. File threads are for constructive criticism, support, technical/gameplay questions, and of course kudos.

I have what I consider morals just like everyone else, and with that comes opinions on sex, nudity, violence, etc. The system here trusts the uploader to be fully upfront about the mod contents so that people know what they are getting into, just as Alienslof makes sure of that with every file she releases regardless of whether its here or at her own site. It really is the best they can do without becoming the morality police...do any of you really want that?

Again, Buddah and the rest, well said, and thanks for making this site what it is. My gratitude to the site operators and the people who allow me to visit their creativity via my PC can not be overstated, thank you all.

PS Alienslof - *corrandk bows in respect* You have an awesome level of creativity, and with regards to this topic, an amazing ability to recognize the issue and handle it with common sense rather then emo BS. You go girl biggrin.gif
