Full Version: A reminder on NSFW files and images

It has been two months now since the "adult only" tag was added to files and images on the site. The idea was to prevent children, people who do not want to see adult content or users at work from stumbling on to a page or image that contained what would be considered "NSFW" (Not Safe For Work) content.

Uploaders are required to set the "Adult only" content at their own disgression and should take the stance of a person who works in an office with people looking over his or her shoulder; what would you want your co-workers to see you looking at? It's bad enough you're looking at Oblivion and Morrowind files and images at work, but Oblivion and Morrowind charaters with their breasts hanging out or with decapitations galore going on? I think that's worse!

So please take this as a friendly reminder that setting adult content (nudity ... including BUMS, very excessive gore, etc.) is a requirement on this site. Almost everybody has been brilliant at doing this and I like to think the people that aren't are simply unaware of the change. I've already sent out PMs to those people who haven't worked it out yet. It'll save LHammonds, Buddah and myself some time and keep the site running spick and span.

Thanks!

Maybe I haven't been looking properly, but I don't think I've even seen anything when uploading a photo that would allow me to place this tag if needed. TES displays differently with IE7 (and badly with mod titles overlapping and such) than with IE6, so maybe it's browser related?

When uploading images into the Image Share section there's an option in both FF and IE that asks "Does this image contain adult only content?". Setting that to yes will flag it as adult content.

Confused. Is this tagging now mandatory? Not that it applies to me, since I don't release things >_< All derivative stuff (ie, giving Ruined-Tail Slof's version of Giger armor).
It certainly is nice to know this stuff, since the mod title doesn't always give a hint as to what content is.

Here is a suggestion: Set file attributes so any file or image uploaded is automaticly set to adult only. The uploader has to uncheck it to open it for everyone. This will help eliminate errors from people who haven't gotten the word or are unfamiliar with the system. Sort of an opt-out rather than opt-in system. It would protect the site from liability and people wont see things they "shouldn't" before a mistake is caught and corrected.

Disagree. Having it set to a neutral "try again" setting would be better, if having an extra step is desirable.

Might not hurt to state that "Adult" includes anything that's NSFW, if it's not already so. Acronymizing NSFW probably wouldn't hurt.

The only image uploading I do currently is "User uploaded images", and under this, the only options are Image Title, image location, and submit. There are no other options. Perhaps this feature needs to be added there in addition to where ever it is now.
