i beat the mages guild recommendation quests on an account and become a "member"

but the save got deleted

so now I, being the lazy bastard i am, don't want to beat all the quests over again. i did the setstage thing on the recommendation quest, but it didn't advance my rank, it just completed the quest.

how can i become a member and not an associate with HAZXA?

or a console method

You mean you became an "Apprentice" of the Mages Guild. Anyway, for you're problem, the only thing I can suggest is, DON'T BE LAZY Seriously, you should be able to do the questline again. It is much easier, albeit more time consuming, than trying to set things up from the console.

Actually it's not easier and assuming he has a legal version of the game, he can do whatever he wants with it.

player.setfactionrank [guildID] [rankID] See usep wiki for details and make sure that your setstage and setfaction rank match up.

You can use Construction Set to find out each faction ID.
