Sure enough, the mod is no longer accessible from the Tesnexus site now.
Here's Bethesda's response on why:
"It has to do with whether the mod uses actual resources from one game in the other. You can't, for example, take a Morrowind texture file, alter it appropriately, and then use it in an Oblivion game."
Well, we know this is false from a technical standpoint, but lets continue...
"There are many reasons why this is so; among others, it is important to protect the original licensor's rights when Bethsoft has licensed a resource to use in a game. That license may allow use of the resource in that game alone, and Bethsoft is duty-bound to prevent the resource from being used in any other game, including their own."
Using this logic... if I buy both Microsoft Office and Microsoft Money, I shouldn't expect them to work together because of licensing conflicts? Please.
And if its 2kGames and Ubisoft who have a problem with this mod, they are dim-witted morons. If they can't see the potential in boosting sales by encouraging fans of one game to buy them both, they are about as short sighted as a company can get.
"But Bethsoft has stated in plain language that you cannot use a resource from one game in another, so there is no need for further discussion. Closed before somebody says something that amounts to piracy talk."
I'm hoping we can have some discussion on this here, as obviously Bethesda is willing to censor any discussion about it.
I for one find this extremely disturbing. I bought both products. Why the hell can't I use them together? What I do with my games in my own home should be my business.
And what about Tamriel Rebuilt? I guess they will never be able to include Morrowind in their Oblivion engine build because of this (if they ever get that far)?
Don't ya love corporate BS?
