TheUnforgiven

Almelexia
What do you mean with "Discreet makes it" i just wanted to see where I can buy that damn program. Is there a rule for it here? Don't thinks so.
MajKrAzAm
Are you willing to pay £3000 for it to make mods I presume?

Try http://store.discreet.com/DRHM/servlet/Con...tegoryID=167200
You'll have to look through the site.

or http://www.oneanimation.net/products.asp?m...manufacturer=66

I suggest buying the student version.

jesus!! I didn't realise that the program was so expensive. Well then I must hed back to search someone that could to my models. huh.gif The only thing with that is that such a people is so hard to find. Everybody is in other mods, but thanks anyway for the information I will do the best I can to find someone.
german_man
hold the phone. Fromthe makers of 3dsmax come gmax the free less powerfullversion of 3dsmax. pick it up here
Almelexia
Yes that is what I needed, thanks geraman_man
Hayabusa

Man, that is great! Good idea for a New year`s gift, so to say smile.gif
Almelexia
What did you say? I cant speak german but I hope there wasent something silly.

Almelexia
Hayabusa
NO no I`m not that un-fair to say something bad , using other language.
More or less I said I was VERY glad getting that information
Kethruch
My german is pretty bad, but I think he actually said:

He thanks you from his heart. He has waited so long, that he can now drink his champagne he had for the new year. The people here must be patient/calm with me. I was puzzled by the response.

Many thanks.

how close was I Hayabusa?

BTW - the trial version of the program has some problems as far as working with it for mods - you can't export any of the models that you create with it. That's why it's a good learning tool to figure out how to use the program, but no substitute for the program itself.

If you really want to get into it, try hooking up with someone in the graphic design industry in your area who may be willing to teach how to use it. You might be able to use their copy of it while he is training you, and if you can get into the industry, you will probably get the program through your work.
Hayabusa
Quite close, I have to admit it smile.gif

huh, the problem is, there`s noone with 3dMax that I could reach sad.gif sad.
The problem is if I just found a converter 3dsmax -> truespace, or blender, or some other program that is quite available... in that case, it could be just matter to export the files into 3dsmax and from that software - to Morrowind.

Well I hope at last I find someone who works with 3ds, AND is interested in modding the MOrrowind.
or if the software German_man mentioned had such an option to transfer it ti the TESCS..
TheUnforgiven
What I meant by Discreet makes it. Is that the company Discreet makes it. So you know what to search for tongue.gif
Hayabusa
well yes. But the price doesn`t make the thing in any way easier.

I`ll look more accurately tomorrow, now I`m too tired for it and just active enough to stay in here.
german_man
When you make something with gmax, send it to someone who has 3dsmax so they can convert to .nif Peregraine will do that, at least he does for me. wink.gif Ask himk though i dont want to offer his services without him knowing. Also, when downloading gmax you shuld get the tutorial to, its an extra 14 megabytes on top of the 19 it takes to download but it is worth it, i could hardly make a circle when i first got it cuz i didnt get the tutorial, know i can make a circle cuz i got the tutorial wink.gif

Can't beat that logic tongue.gif

Not exactly. It's possible, though a bit buggy... it adds some odd smoothing and I have no idea if materials will transfer. But you can export from gmax -> quakeIII, then use a free conversion program to go from quakeIII to a format 3dsmax can read. Then have someone like me export to .nif.
german_man
really !!! (shocked and dismayed) i thought 3dsmax could take it streaight from .gmax to .nif
oh well guess ill have to find someone with quake too.
Peregrine
No, it's a free export plugin for gmax. You just export to the q3 format (from gmax), but you don't need the game for anything. Its just q3 is the only format that gmax can export to that there's a way to import into 3dsmax.
Almelexia
FreedomForce exporter for tes can do the work that convert and move files to tes CS.
Stormscape
I'm getting 3DS Max 5 tomorrow from one of my buddies who works at a graphics place. So pester me once I get it. Mind yo uthough, I can't even make a square in gMAX...
Almelexia
Will you learn how to work with it? That is a great program indeed. I just need it, if the smaller program German_man told me will just work on other games then i will get crazy. Just now I have a program called "Calligari game space 1.1" but i dont know how to make a box in this program. But if anybody knows how to use then send me some help with shortcuts in the game and much more tips.
german_man
somwonw (forgot name) wrote a MAXscript to import .dfx into gmax maybe it would be possible to write a script for .nif.
Almelexia
Hmm yeah, that might be possible but very hard, but if i could find the script then i could just look at it and see if it possible to make the same thing but for nif. Or am i wrong?
german_man
You re very wrong, its formatted kind of like a java program (which i know at an intermediate level) and i uderstood about the buttons and stuff but whenit got to the part about switching it looked something like this

(

ae

ar
)
graphics :" buttonradio

(

qd

)

if you didnt understand that it wont be likely you could do it.
ohGr
*bangs head on desk repeatedly*

this has been done so many times it should be turned into a stick, or even a rule "no more 3ds threads" <_<

anyway

your best bet it just finding a tutorial through google, which im sure anyone can handle, although, some tutorials are misleading, i went through one on how to make a sword, i ended up making a dildo, so it can get tricky.

Don't you mean Gmax Peregrine?
Peregrine
Yes, well... at least I should hope 3dsmax can export a bit better! What I meant to say is that q3 is the only format that gmax can export to that can be converted to a useful file format. There might be others, but I haven't seen them.
