Please only use these forums to report problems, make suggestions or ask questions about these forums or my sites. Any questions related to Morrowind, Oblivion or anything other than my sites should be posted in the other relevant forums.
Thank you.

Maybe this thread should be locked so people don't start asking their questions here.

This has me scratching my head. Either a lot of people don't look at where they're posting or they just don't care whether these forums work or not.
Mod questions asked in the right sub forum will get answered quicker and more often so its worth the extra few seconds navigation.

I hope this is in the right contex and spirit of this thread.
This is just my thought on the matter of thread necromancy. Wouldn't it be prudent to just close all topics that are over 3 months old?
Sometimes worthwild content can be added to threads that are a month or two old, but anything older should most likely be locked down, just to prevent people from inadvertently violating the necromancy policy.
I was guilty when I first came to the forum, as it was my first visits here and I wanted to view all topics that were available and as I had the time I cycled through and read a lot - posted replies and then of course got hit for this infringment
I'd do it myself, as I have the time if I were allowed (with my work nights being -very- uneventful ^_^).

Hope this is where I report this.
To admin's, you might want to check my personality idles 4 mod page. Looks like a bot may be up to something the downloads are quite a bit higher than views. Not sure I'm reading it right I'm referring to the downloads on the main page for the mod (under version), which says over 13500 downloads, when you click on files over it says 5100 downloads. views are only at a bit over 11,500.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14280I just looked, the page has 3 files, the counter counts all downloads from the page....so this is not out of line at all as it is a popular mod and folks like to keep up with changes/additions. Also if you have deleted a file the count remains.

I’d like to mention that in practice, usernames that have more than three numbers appending their name are in many cases spammers or users creating those profiles for ‘other than appropriate’ activity.
I’d like to see anyone’s name having excessive numbers (like jackrod445500 or some such similar name) be first messaged and asked to decided an appropriate alternate name with three or less digits and then have it changed.
Those who do not reply should have their accounts removed, and in turn the forum should prohibit any name creation with excessive digits appending a name. I know this may sound a bit like ‘forum Nazism’ but I do feel it will have a net positive return on reducing spammers and malevolent users.

That wouldn't work, Then the quote, "spammers or users creating those profiles for ‘other than appropriate’ activity." would just use a name that meets your approved class. And there may be a reason a poster picked a name with more than 3 digits after it - although your reason is the most likely. We need something that would allow the moderators to readily cull the inappropriate posters without getting any legitimate members.
This is one of the friendliest game sites on the internet, Maybe we have to put up with some abusers and trust the moderators to keep it friendly. Personally I don't want to see strict posting rules that will make it difficult for the 'noobs' remember we were all noobs once.

Not least to mention the fact that it wouldn't be time efficient at all. Similarly the people with numbers in their name aren't necessarily spammers, they're just far more likely to be the people who are registering just to download mods and do not care about their visible presence on the site.

At the time I read this, DarkOne's posts read 7500. You deserve a cake! *bakes one and gives it over*
Alright, humor aside I see your point of view and true my method isn't the most fair, even if it has meritt. Thanks for the reply.

Hello
I have a suggestion for a sub-forum , but first a little background.
About 18 months ago I started playing Oblivion and soon got interested
in modding. On anf off I have been training and making my own small private mods.
But now after making 6 housemods , I think that my latest are good enough for uploading
on Tesnexus. I have been working on it for about 3 months and I must admit that I take
my modding seriously.
But the case is that I need someone I can trust to test it before I "throw it for the lions"
on Tesnexus.
Therefore I think it would be nice if there was a sub-forum where modders could get
in contact with people who would be willing to test mods and could be trusted not to
"steal" ideas and publish them in their own name.
What do you think ?

I have great suggestion. And, you better do it, or else ... nothing, haha.
Ok, here goes: In the download section, wouldn't it be nice that when you return from downloading or viewing that the spot that you initially clicked was highlighted.

Nope. You'd need to create a new account. If you have uploaded files under your Sonck account, you can give your new account access rights.

Not to spam or anything, but that ^ is EXACTLY why my user name is what it is. I wish it were a bit different now...
Oh yeah. DarkOne, what ever happened to the "Video-Share" section that you were talking about a while ago?

Is there a way you could make it so the download links are direct file links, so that i can use them with download managers (I use Flashget)? Or even better, can anyone tell me why my Windows Vista has suddenly begun to fail at every download, and try to automatically run most? (ALL downloads fail with Windows, which is rather frustrating)
Vista could have been tampered with by my little brother to automatically run some types of downloads, but i only got vista a few months ago, and I'm not sure how to change how files are downloaded. Anyways its not that this would really matter, because those that do download by saving manually, never appear
I'm not quite sure where to post this, because it is a problem I'm having with the site, but not necessarily in any way the site's fault, its my computer's fault.

in advance

I cannot download anything off of this site. The post above would have me think that it's something to do with my laptop's copy of Vista. Any solutions?

2 brief issue I should've reported the other day when I made a thread about viewing comments:
Sometimes when I click on a mod's tab for comments, description, download...whatever, very rarely the tab takes a long time to actually open and when it does - it shows the download links for the file, even if I clicked on comments. The tab I chose's content will be displayed but the download links will appear first
and sometimes after clicking on a file to download it will open a new tab and instead of the file downloading automatically or asking me which server to choose, the page renders the actual HTML, not applying any formatting.
some specs: firefox 3, Win XP SP2 32 bit, 1280x1024 resolution.
Sorry I don't have any screenshots to evidence it but next time it happens I shall make sure I snap a screengrab quickly - unless these are known errors? well actually hopefully I won't get to see these errors since I need to stop downloading mods and actually play Oblivion!!
/edit - happened again!

If FF3 has broken the IE/FF2 compatibility of the tabbed browsing I'm going to be ticked off. Unfortunately I can't take a look at this until late Monday because I am away for the weekend.

Don't know if I'm allowed to reply here, but...
Yes. That Sub-Forums has been empty for a long time... Currently, members do not have the rights to post a new Topic in the general "Spore" section. Hopefully this will change soon.

Thank you gman02 for replying.
The strange thing about this is that the forum does not appear to be empty. When looking at this page: The Nexus Forums > Specific Games > Spore
http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showforum=191 it says that the Spore subforum has 20 topics and 207 Replies. If I click on the link in "Last Post Info" I am brought to that forum topic.
The Spore subforum appears to have topics but they are not visible in the forum. Is this a bug or does not everyone have access to this forum?

I guess that Switch (the moderator that moderates that Sub-Forum) is now gone according to
this topic. I don't really know if there is a moderator interested in taking care of this Sub-Forum anymore...
Well, I guess all we can do is wait...

The most common cause of this is having cookies disabled in your browser.
Edit: just saw your edit.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I paid to become a Premium member a couple of days ago and I still can't access the fast servers, I sent a PM but have had no reply. Trying to download mods like Silgrad Tower for OB is taking forever at less than a kilobyte per second!
