It's that time again where the old poll gets kicked out and a new one comes in to fill the void. The last poll question asked "What type of character do you play?" and here are the results:
  • Might, 4434 votes - 31.68%
  • Magic, 3152 votes - 22.52%
  • Stealth, 6410 votes - 45.80%

Seems like the majority of visitors to this site like being backstabbers and pretending to be ninjas...good on them.

The new poll question asks "How would you describe your gaming habits?". Note that this relates to gaming in general, not just Morrowind and Oblivion.

Wow, Oblivion Online would a little scary and dangerous at night.
DEHAIRS

Who needs to pretend? ninja.gif

I voted magic because of my D&D influences. Wizards could literally become more powerful than gods! devil.gif

Did anyone notice that might stayed on 31% for pretty much the entire time???

...well i thought that was funny

The new poll is TOUGH.

I am an avid (not casual) gamer- who will play whenever I can find time and then play for as long as I can- and will generally play Elder scrolls games- so I loosely fit into 2 categories- also I do not really understand "when I can be bothered"

The new poll is easy; hardcore gamer all the way! thumbsup.gif

When i got Morrowind i just ran at everything to begin with, smashing and slashing.(where have i heard that before?)
It was the best way to get my skills and stats up and frankly you need to do that pretty quickly if you want to survive. Plus as we all know TES games don't let you venture far from your door without meeting something that wants to hand you your ass on a plate. So with low sneak it was fight, fight, fight. Then after a while i got some mage skills and bought a few spells and that became more fun to do, especially as the spells got more powerful. So then i was able to put tasty enchantments on weapons and things shifted again.
But once i was able to take out pretty much anything i met and my sneak was high i started stalking and hunting Predator style. I could decide when I wanted to fight.
Same for Oblivion really, except i started it wanting to slide around in the shadows, and there are so many cool mods for TES4 that make the stealth option sooo much more interesting and immersive.
My point is that i think i've done them all but they've started when my stats and abilities push me that way.
I prefer being a silent shadow type but some of that is I reckon cos of all the rats, wolves, bandits, cliff racers etc.. If you want five minutes peace you have to blend.
Maybe someone could make a mod where you play as a bush?
Meeps
Stelth is the best option.

How do you submit your choice on the poll? I don't see a submit button, and selecting my choice doesn't load a new page.

As for what I was going to vote, it's a mix between hardcore gamer and modder. I'd vote for hardcore gamer.

One of the things that Morrowind taught me was an appreciation for strategy.

A lot of the games I played up to that point were mostly hack & slash.

Oblivion clearly rewards the player that thinks before they draw a weapon.

In the beginning of the game, it tips you to try to sneak around the first goblin you meet.

Throughout the game enemies are carefully placed just far enough apart that if you can draw them off one at a time you rarely have to face more than one opponent at a time. I think this design encourages stealth over hack & slash. “Revenge is best served cold.”

Still, every now and then, I can’t help getting in way over my head. Just for the rush of bashing some skulls and surviving, if only just barely.

??? is this a serious question? I just seleced the appropriate button on the tes nexus index page and the submission and reloading of page was automatic

Yep, I just tried again, it doesn't work for me. The status bar at the bottom of the screen says 'error on the page' (maybe not exactly that, it was in Dutch) when I click my choice. This was while using Internet Explorer, and its security settings aren't too tight on my computer. It doesn't work on Firefox either.

It looks like it's just me, so I'll see if I can figure it out.

I too cannot vote. Both tesnexus.com and blacktreegaming.com are permitted to run scripts.

Probably a lame firewall or anti-virus is playing silly-billies with your internet security.

Worked fine last month, and only changes since then have been updates. However, NoScript's changelog mentions that v 1.3.1 "Fixed missing plugin content placeholder regression on some gaming sites". Probably not connected, but worth mentioning.

(If this affects more people than just Pov and me, might be worth splitting to a new topic)

I'm an evil character all the way, everyday!
Merilia
I can't vote either, and I voted just fine in last month's poll.
Abramul
Whatever my problem was, it went away. Think it might have been killing and restarting Firefox that did the trick.
