Its an idea that i got from the aliens in the movie "Alien"

How it works is you have no vision whatsoever. Every 3-5 seconds, you vision appears in a blue or red pulse form but you see through walls for as far as possible.

This could be a great race ability.

Sounds like a hardcore Vampire mod. Seems really bestial, like something you'd get at 100% Vamp.

Also very enjoyable to play as, but I have no idea how one could implement it...

Not really possible since there isn't any way to black out a person's sight that isn't screwing with the games brightness settings. Any effect that changes those settings would be bad since not everyone uses the same brightness settings, and any sort of scripting with those settings can create significant issues in the game. Not to mention, you would have a constantly running script on you to enable/disable vision. And 3-5 seconds is a long time of darkness if you're doing anything other than standing there. It would technically be worse than trying to play the game at 1 frame a second. Especially when night eye and detect life (effects which would have to be used/altered for this) are already available without the blindness problem.

Well im thinking about the nighteye shader effects. I saw all of these shader effects with one of the mods and maybe they could be used to black the sight out. btw maybe every 2 secs and your vision is back for 2 as well

I just saw those... Very cool. There was also one that blacks out the corners of the screen, so it seems definitely doable, (Though not looking through walls, I think. Bundle it with Detect Life?) if one could use any form of animating shader.

Yeah thats what i mean. Now if the screen can be blacked out, then it will work perfectly.



Now i just though of something else:

It is probably impossible but make it so you can use lifedetect through the black screen.

I agree - this would be way cool if used appropriately. Maybe a short-term spell effect or have it combined with a strong buff. Probably can't get the exact effect you're looking for, but something close enough.

What this would mean for most players with average systems is that things would run at 200 fps for the blacked out seconds and then at 3 fps for the "pulse" - with all the seeing through walls...

Seriously, I think it sounds good- especially if this is a power or a temporary spell- with some super skill bonuses- making you a crazed uber warrior who could kill with his bare hands/presence if he could only see

Permanent pulse vision may be a pain...

How about it being a togglable spell that comes with the race then?
But yeah you get more strength bonuses and maybe some resistances. Too bad I suck at modding

I think a racial power that is usable once per day, perhaps for 5 or 10 game minutes, would work. What kind of buff would go with the pulse vision? Super-speed, super strength... ?

Your person will beome much faster at the beginning. Strength isn't much of a thing for this character. Speed and intelligence is what the person would be based around.

Just a little idea of my own. I think it should be based around the vampire like stated befor because it would acculy make some real lore into the skill instead of something u can try when ur bored. I agree that the skill should give you a giant strength bonus. the life detect would also be good at realism seeing as it is proven that lose of sight(or any sense) can improve your other senses (in this case id say maybe hearing?). in other words i was thinking that maybe this would make the full fledged vampire into a form of ultimate vampire for a temporary time with a uber strength boost and hand2hand (claws would be kool with the hand2hand boost, you know tear things apart)?? ?

Use the midas vortex as an example of how i want it.
Walk into the center and you should barely see anything or see nothing.
A pulse from the vortex comes out allowing you to see for a little while.
