Hey

When I looked at all important enemies in the game, I realised much of them are High Elves. Umbacano, Falcar, Camoran, Mannimarco, the rogue mage of Anvils mages guild quest, etc ...

So, are high elves born evil? If I remember correctly High Chancelor Accato (Ocato, Occato, Acato?) is a high elf too...

What do you think, are they evil, or is it a coincidence many of our 'higher ranked' enemies are high elves?

Arrogant beyond reason, yes. Evil? Likely just a coincidence. I always compared them to "popular" high school students, they're not really evil, but they have such a high opinion of themselves that no one else likes them.

Umbacano simply wanted to revive the ancient Aylieds, who happened to be daedra worshipers. Falcar is just a coincidence. Camoran is a high elf because the lore says he is. Mannimarco is actually a lich, and, therefore, not a high elf...He just looks like one because he was one. Mannimarco was born in Summerset Isles, so what else would he be?
No, high elves are not evil. They are pompous and arrogant but not not evil. Some high elves are evil, just like some of all the other races are evil. Just look at Blackwood; they are all argonians, and there is only one high elf Dark Brotherhood assassin.

Naaah, not all of them are evil.
I see some of them need sympathy. The Skooma addict, his pity wife, the one in Bravil Mage's Guild who lost her staff, they are not evil. (Sorry, but I can't recall the names sweat.gif

Like WoogieMonster said before, they are arrogant.
Naaaah, not a real problem to me. As long as they don't hurt me and my character, it's not a problem.

^Ardaline? This should probably be amended to "Are male High Elves evil?". I don't really recall any evil female high-elves. Were there a couple of Mythic Dawn sleeper agents?
ninja_lord666
Sleeper agents were in Morrowind.

There's the mage bandit in the Anvil initiation quest of the Mages Guild, Camoran's daughter, and limitless female high elven necromancers and conjurers.

I meant the Mythic Dawn members that jump out at you for no reason in cities, and generics don't count.

Good catch on Ruma Camoran and the bandit, though. (Even if it was already mentioned.... sweat.gif) Seems like they just get a standard amount of villains. Come to think of it, you can also add Seridur to the list of male High Elf nasties. Mannimarco was, I would imagine, also evil in life, if he tried for lichdom.

I believe there were also some high elf villains in Morrowind too... Though I can't remember who. Anyway, I think it's mostly because of what was already said, combined with a higher tendancy for strong magic use, Necromancy being legal for those in the mages guild, and sects of Daedric worshippers. I wouldn't say it's evil, just a good recipe for conflict when you have a game where the player usually uses weapons, necromancy is seen as bad, and the whole plot is centered around a Daedric cult.

At any rate, it's just one of those things Bethsoft does with the race, kinda like how male woodelves seem to have a strong inferiority complex. If anything, Bethsoft is just being racist.
