This is something I have been meaning to do for a while now and today I have finally gotten around to doing it. All files and images marked as "Adult-only" are now blocked from viewing for non-members, and those members who have specifically chosen to block the content. By default adult-only content is blocked on the site. In order to view adult-only content on the site you need to be a registered member, logged in, and toggled the adult-only view settings in your preferences.

The reasons behind this are typical and common place across the web; to protect "minors", censor inappropriate content for people at work, and help those people who don't want to accidentally stumble across this content.

At the moment it is only the uploaders of files and images who can toggle the "Adult-only" content flag so I ask uploaders to use their own mature judgement on using the flag. If your file uses or shows nudity or quite graphic violence then please turn that adult-only flag on. I'm sure you're tired about some people moaning about not wanting to see your content in their game so this is the perfect way to give them no excuses and stop them complaining for good.

Well, though I doubt about the screenshots feature, will every screenshooter be aware about it?
I just want to share my opinion that every screenshooter shall co-operate using this feature, thus minimizing the unnecessary complaints about adult content

I think that's a great idea, as long as the check box or whatever is in a clearly visible spot, like next to the image title box or so. I have a couple of action shots with zombies I was kind of interested in putting up, but I was hesitant because zombies are pretty nasty looking in close up to start with, throw in a nice blood smear, and yick. Naturally that made cautious about putting it up even though I think they're good action shots. With a feature like this, I would feel better about putting them up knowing there was some blocking on them for inadvertent viewing.

I can see this could be incredibly useful. Good thinking on Dark0ne's part. Good job!

EDIT: On side note, do you suppose you could implement filters for different categories, like, say, if a user prefers to only see Weapons and Armor mods, when browsing they would only see files categorized or tagged as such. Could be useful for some people who like browsing, going through the latest files and such as that. Or when somebody is looking for a specific type of mod, they could temporarily toggle it.

EDIT II: Come to think of it, make one of these for adult-only images! I'm f***ing tired of 11 out of 12 images on the image share pages being pointless nude girls in battle taken by amateur screenshot-takers. Make one, I beg you!

Great idea - might keep those sexually insecure little boys away from my mods! They will have no room for complaints. Need to go through my files and do a bit of tidying up and setting tags anyway.

Hopefuly it will put a stop to people who rate and comment on mods based only on there opinions of the content, instead of the quality of the work.

A much needed feature for the site - I know I'm perfectly mature enough to view adult-oriented content, but a majority of members are half my age, and I don't think you'd want to get in trouble for displaying explicit images of graphic violence and/or nudity. It's a prudent move Dark, and a good thought

On the main TES Nexus page (at www.texnexus.com), on the right-hand side, under the Members column (it's the last section on the left side of the partition).

This is a good change in my opinion, I was tired of reading comments about body replacer mods being the tool of the devil or some such. And now, as pointed out by Dark0ne, they don't have any excuses to make those less-than-bright comments.

A thoroughly necessary modification of the site. I am in no way an anti-sex campaigner for mods but this is an absolutely right-headed approach. I'm even of the opinion that you should be able to somehow confirm your identity to prevent minors from viewing this stuff, although I acknowledge that this is damn near impossible to implement without some expensive third party agency. Kids grow up too quick these days!
I hope people realise that these things are just a harmless bit of fun. It's seriously demoralising and anti-social to post a comment of 'sad' when this is just here for fun and daftness, adult-style. I imagine poor young teenagers chastising themselves with totally unnecessary sexual guilt just because some socially inadequate bully wants to assert themselves.

Good idea Darkone, parents shouldn't have to worry about content for a fantasy game like Oblivion. Now adults can dl'd what they like and the young ones are a little better protected. Good one.

And why is that? Oblivion is rated M because of the nudity. Surely the parents must know that.

I completely agree. The image share has all but become a porn gallery.

Filtering the gallery by views, descending you get only nudity on the first 3-5 pages

The image share section has the same filters in place.

First: you really think that most parents give a rat's back end what their kids do in games? Where the heck do you live? I've heard almost as many ten year olds playing M rated games as I have people who are over twenty-five, in fact I think I've heard more ten year olds than I have girls.

Second: If you gonna do this with the Adult Content, just make a seprate area for it that is only accessable to members. If a member has AC blocked then just have that link not show up and any new AC get sent right to that area. It saves time for the people who want to look at AC and will again help to keep it out of the way of people who don't want to see it.

i have tried to update this three times and it sure says all done, it has been updated succesfully...

however, it does not work. if i try to access a dl it takes me straight back to the sorry page.

i have tried to shift from block to flat layout and that worked perfectly. am i missing something?

Well somthing seems to be a mess, I tried to change my prefrences and it would not allow me to enter in. It would just work then flash back to the login screen, I'm already logged in! I can not download the item I want for this reason. Any suggestions?

Anyway, While I'm sure this is a good thing and lots of impressionable children will be saved from the horrors of drawn breasts, I'm not to sure if its an overly useful edition.

I agree whole heartedly that it will save us from lots of really bad attempts at screen shotting (he says from his soap box), but isn't this part of being a member of the gaming community.

I long for the day when I see a post regarding a screen shot that reads " nice attempt, but if you tried placing the light source in x position it would...." rather than " you sick freak get a real girlfriend".

(shifts position on soap box) I remember when I was a teenager, the mere thought of breasts would send me into a near fanatical state (ah the hours and hours spent getting rejected by women ;-) ) . I say get over it, teenage men and women will always be overly excited by sexually suggestive imagery ( and most adults for that matter) lets help these people devlop their skills rather than just bag (insult) them on the choice of content.

I agree , that in this age and day such precautions are a necessary. I think though some are running into the same problem I cuurently am facing. Which is that under the web address of http://www.tessource.net we were able to go to the member preferences page and select personal settings. However since the site is now ->http://thenexusforums.com, a few of us discovered that though our names remained the same and site looked like previous site , our passwords mo longer worked as in my peculiar case. Thinking I had forgotten my password, which made notify site that I had forgotten it. Checking my email, instead of recieving the password, got a link to reset my password. No problem. Once that was done. Logged in fine at first.

Unfortunately it was shortlived. So I sent a message stipulating problems I was having logging back in.

Guess point is folks, the people here are hard at work trying to get the unexpected and unforeseen kinks out. Evidently, the transition did not go completely as expected or hoped for. So a little patience is needed and/or a break is just what we all need from the mad rushing world outside.

And as to the Adult-only content, Granted under http://www.tesnexus.com we were able to access the member preferences and
choose our settings to our tastes. Evidently, the unanticipated glitches are doing what glitches do, give everyone grief all atound.

so it should not be too much longer before we are all able to access or find the member preferences page under the user contrl center again. It is just a glitch that I am sure they will quickly remedy and resolve all the issues that are plaguing those working hard just to keep this site up.

As a rule if it works Don't fix it If it doesn't completely work. Just fix what is broken. To do that, Know what broke and where to put the needed fix.
