Another updated feature has just been cranked out for the file database in the form of the action log. This is an updated version of the original Change Log feature of the site but provides more detailed information on specific updates that authors have made to their file entries. On top of this RSS feeds are available for the action logs of all files in the database, so those people who like to RSS it up can keep up-to-date with their favourite files through their RSS programs.

Tied to this is the introduction of a new content navigation for the file pages themselves. The description, action log, image gallery and mirrors are now linked to a single content area that dynamically loads without having to reload the entire page. The idea is to reduce the amount of page loads you need to make to find out the information you want on files. It's possible I could add file comments to this system as well.

There's more to come in the future.

Fantastic improvements! The comments would be great in this form, as well.

this layout is far more convienient and fast, may i suggest adding images to the files when browsing them in a list as then you could get a taste of them before clicking, also people would be more inclined to upload images themselves or someone else uploading them. 10/10 for the new layout it excellently better and an improvement on the old site TESSource/DB.

Definately a great improvement. But can I make a suggestion?

Everything's starting to look a little cramped, especially when viewing images of files. Perhaps you could consider the following:
Move Gallery up so that it's next to Version and Rating.
Move Files up so that it's beneath Downloads.
Move Tags up so that it's beneath Views.
Remove from Actions all that are now listed in the new content navigation tabs.
Move remaining Actions up so that it's beneath Rating.

This would completely remove the central column, providing more space for the Description etc. to stretch into. For people without widescreen monitors, this would be a great improvement, and wouldn't be at all detrimental to people who do have widescreen monitors.

Great additions. They wreak havoc on my user css though. Not a problem when you implement the changes we discussed. Hint hint. smile.gif

Tabs!!!! Love 'em! Great, great idea, DarkOne! Thank you for your continued improvements to the site.

Haha, yeah, I need to get down and do that CSS soon, but I keep putting it off in order to get some of my higher priority stuff done in the time I have! ph34r.gif

It's good to see the new additions to the site & is going to be quite useful. The only problem I have with the tabs is that the ads are back for 'Premium' members even when I logged out & back in as well as a force page reload.

I'll fix that ASAP.

I noticed this. I like it!

Not a fan of the "improvements" I must say.
Tabs were the most horrible web browser invention ever sad.gif

Could we please have a way to just right-click and open the gallery in a new window again?
That ability seems to have been taken away....

Having the mods gallery crammed into one narrow strip of space that's only 1/3 the size of the page just looks really awkward - especially with everything stuck backwards on the left side of the page.

Wow, great improvement! Perhaps like herosinger said, the comments could probably be displayed in this format as well. Less page loads means less bandwidth consumed right?

I really like the new tabbed layout. It's so much easier to bounce around now without resorting to the forward and backward browser buttons. Thanks!!

By all means finish whatever you have planned and let me know when you're done. I'll re-examine the source then. Some of the changes I requested are already unnecessary as a result of the changes you've made. smile.gif No rush either, I'm fully booked the rest of the year.
