Hey folks,
I've created the snow arena as a little fun for the members to partake in. The original snow fight thread was created on the Morrowind Chronicles forums which eventually reached over 44 pages of replies in its life.

The basic rules are; you roleplay yourself within a snow arena the size of the known universe. Power posing IS allowed. We had several people launch "snow nukes" in the original thread which blew up earth, yet it all ended up being reversed by a snow powered time-machine, for instance - if someone blows up the universe, it can easily be recreated...snow is a powerful thing!

It is important to understand, however, that the forum ToS DO apply here. That means no swearing, no pointless SPAM (outside of a huge snow fight), no insulting others et cetera. If I see this, you'll be given strikes or banned, I'll have no tolerance of abuse of this priviledge.

so what do you do if someone kills you? i.e. sends some crazy flesh eating thingy at you? :rip:

Revive yourself or make up some crazy story that prevents you from dying...

Oh that was me that ate him, ShinJiOh you where still in the game, just in the form of poop in a dark deep hole.

Or he could go to Purgatory and eat all the fresh Pizza pockets he wants.

The "space ship" incident me and peregrine created was to make more fun, because frankly just throwing snowballs at eachother gets boring in a while

Consider yourself held. Participating in a flame war is just as bad as starting one (as I've discovered the hard way!).

As for the "what's the point" question, Pack Rat got it exactly right. Try keeping the thread interesting for more than a week or two without going beyond simple snowball throwing. It makes it interesting to have massive, insane stories!

yeah, look at my posts in it, long, and absolutley go nowhere, yet you still learn about the real necrowizard much later in my....series of posts, so far im on 8 or something in this thread, when im at 20, ill re-introduce him without malchik making a decoy!
even i sometimes giggle a little at my own posts, but the whole concept is interesting, no ones using snowballs, we're all using grim and frostbitten snow powered nukes in plans of universal domination

Hmm, I've never been held by a bird before, LOL.

I stopped throwing snow ball's once I realized the power of missiles, however they too became boring after a while, I eventually ran out of ideas completly for the arena.

I don't intend anything to be sane in such a forum. You can do what you like. I'm a writer so I have no problem in dreaming up all sorts of strangeness. (Did you know I am actually inside an asylum for the irreparably insane!!!)

Nobody can win or lose, one has to have fun in the dying and being reborn approach! They blow you up. Cast reverse time and blow them up. The world is destoyed - so what? There are billions of parallel universes.

And when everyone is becoming impregnable - throw a spanner in the works!

The snow arena did get less fun, maybe just for me. because of it's crazy freedom to do anything and reverse peoples effects, it's lacking in solidness. Oh well it's fine the way it is, maybe I'll join the RP forum...

I wonder whether you will eventually say no power posing and no reviving and see ho the story will end. I hope not but i dont know how fun it will be after everyone has been killed about 40,000 times but 'it was a decoy all those times or they came back to life. What i am saying is, will there ever be a perminent outcome ie someone being defeated for good and they are out of the war.

Possible... i think that there will be an outcome, well that is if people become like acrid and leave because they have no more ideas on how to live or blow the universe up

Of course there won't be an end to the War. Sure, one part of the story might end... but there will always be someone to throw a snowball (or anti-snow missile!).

Or there might be a Bird to hold someone back from starting a flame war....:blink:

hey it says up in the rules you can... and i was killed because someone made a post that said, okay your base was destroyed and consumed by fleas and your dead. I still wanted to play + i didn't say that it was bad I just said that after like 70 posts of people dieing and being revived it would be boring because the story would be going nowhere. So if the story was going nowhere eventually Dark0ne should say okay no reviving and no power posing.

I'm not criticizing you, just joking around a bit.... Hope you don't take it personally. If you do, tell me, and I'll stop......

But do you have any [serious] thoughts on a book, anyone? If we could find a way to make it when the thread is done, that would be so awesome it's not funny....You should start a thread about a book, DarkOne....

I think I will get some posts from the begining and changing the tense and stuff. Ill post it here when I have done a page, not like anyone would want to read it but it will be fun.

Here I just wrote this in like 5 minutes so it is bad, but a good example of this funny little book idea:

The sun had just climbed the distant hills and now its light filled the quiet valley. Birds sang and children played whil waiting for their buses. The morning's perfection would not last long however. A chill wind blew in from the south, The sun's light had adopted a shade of blue. The temperature was dropping rapidly, as what seemed to be a dense cloud blocked out the sun and sky. Moments later the 'cloud' seemed closer, it was plumeting to earth. An avalanch of snow crashed into the high levels of the citys sky scrapers, collapsing them with ease. Next, it crashed to the ground sending cars tumbaling down rodes in its wake.
All was quiet and still across the face of the planet. A see of snow and ice covered the world and every other planet in the universe. Suddenly a hand juts up from the featurless snow. A body followed. It was Dark0ne, being a quick thinker He armed himself with a snowball and readied himself. The next person to emerge from the snow was Theta, she was greeted by Dark0ne's snowball, right in the head. After launching Dark0ne made another move, he ran to the side and began digging a small bunker for protection.

In the movie I want Tom Cruise to play me.

I want Elijah Wood, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, or Sean Bean to play me!

But Rud, I was thinking more along the lines of just taking each post, and correcting the grammar..... Maybe you could put it into book form, and I could take the raw text [only with corrected grammar] and put them together. In fact, I've formulated an equation for it:

Slaiv's Book + Rud's Book = BEST BOOK EVER [aside from all those better than it, such as LOTR]

But still, it would be kinda cool, wouldn't it? Harback, weathered leather book cover, weathered, yellow, dusty old pages, one part book style snow-arena, one part actual snow arena........

Yes, that's because i wanted to see how' it would finish, though i reckon this would end up being a sci-fi movie... but with all the drinking and stuff i dont know?

if we did not do the book in 'book form' (crappy discriptions) then we would have to change the tense in most of the posts

Dont worry when the times is right, myself and Peregrine will introduce a new scenario... The story just never ends... It will completly different from the current scenario: "The Snowclonewars".. The next one will be more realistic so there wont be battleships or planets or anything like that... It's fun trust me...

This is not an obligated scenario... Every body does in the arena whatever he wishes too... All we ask is when you wish to join in the scenario is not to ruin it by acting stupid and destroy it for those who care about the scenario... We do not own this arena... Me and Peregrine, we just enter scenarios for those who wish to play along... If you want to do stupid and make posts that are totally useless and the greatest idiotic story's ever read go ahead... As long as it doesnt get out of control. Me and Peregrine are fantasts who love to write storys and we invite people to join in... It's not obligated...

so are you saying we cant get drunk and play ping-pong now?....... <_<

I must admit, I enjoy posting on the Snow Arena because it allows me to use my imagination to think up of new lands and such (with the Blessed Realm and all) I don't really care about this book business, nor do I have any interest in ruling the Universe in this thread, but I do enjoy expanding my realm that I created and adding stories and breathing life into it by interacting with some of the other posters.

Though, all seriousness must be set aside now and again so that I can get absolutley ripped, a fun past time, enjoyed by all.

Look, thats all what the snowarena is all about... Imagination... Me and Peregrine were trying to build up a story for all who whised to play along...
If you want to do something totally else go ahead... This isnt an RPG forum where someone is in control... Just dont go destroy other people their story...

I'm afraid your a bit late on "The snowclone wars" since that scenario is already running... I introduced it and thanks to Peregrine we worked it out to the current running scenario... However the scenario is not related to a star wars movie...

Hey Slaiv... there's a problem with the book theory, well with the existence of "cavewiches" Malchik :stupid: has brought to my attention that the cavewich invention began as a typo that i made :oops: , Apparently i had accidentally not put a space between the words "cave" and "which" :construction: if you must see this it is on pg. 8

actually if we were to create a movie it would be even harder to explain what it is... not to mention why in the beggining we had all these pink bunnies flying around.... :blink: :whistling:

K. I realise the old scenario hasnt finished yet but I'm already posting the new scenario... I do this only for one purpose... Will we play it or not?
All I ask is mature opinions of the scenario. This scenario is something for everyone. It's actually a far more simple version of an RPG I'm building out but since the "full-version" contains rules about the factions and so on I wont use it for the arena.

K, the scenario...
My RPG is called the "Untouchables" so I'll use the same name here...
This story takes place in New York, current date. Everything is actually the same as the world we live in only one huge difference... It doesnt snow...
"What?" I already hear most of you coming... No, it doesnt snows, it never did and never will... Yea there is ice and so on all the other weather conditions remained the same... It just doesnt snows... But snow plays however still a very important role in this scenario. Snow is actually drugs, an illegal one off course but that just makes it interessting. The scenario contains 6 factions. If you really wishes to create a new one, knock yourself out...
These are the 6 main factions: Police; Civilians; Russian maffia; Italian maffia; American maffia and the Yakuza or the Chinese/Japanese maffia...
You can be whoever you wish to be...
You want to play this scenario out as a drunk druguser and spend most of your time in the scenario in the gutters or a bar, it's possible...

I only ask of all of you who would be willing to play this, if you are willing to play this at all, is to chose your faction you will belong to in the beginning and to use your first post to introduce your character/yourself ( appearance in the story, faction you belong to, etc..). You arent bound to your faction so you can change later on...

For example. I introduce myself as a civilian... I hate my job, hate my neighbours I just hate my entire freaking life. I want something adventurous... a cop would be a good idea but the salary isnt quiete where I was hoping for... So I become member of one of the maffias or I just raise my own gang. There is only one advantage to the original maffias, they cant be whiped out... ( sorry Peregrine ).
These maffias are just too strong and are just to spread to whipe out... Neither can the cops and defenitly not the civilians...

One more thing, each faction already contains inlimted numbers of fictive characters. So If you'de be willing to import some drugs for instance and you need some men, you are capable to create a fictive party witch your character leads...

Now I hear, why can our own gangs be whiped out? This is to make sure you would be joining a main faction. Why the main factions? Because I want to avoid the same thing to happen as what happend in the first scenario...

What's the goal of the scenario?
Help your faction, this isnt of use for the civilians off-course, to become the most powerfull in New York.
If you are a cop try to stop the maffias from importing the snow, a maffia on the other will try to import the most of the snow...
How do you import the most snow? By controling more area than the others off-course. Each area buys the same amount of drugs so dont make up that your area is moneybank...Civilians are drugusers and all-day people... Drunks, lawyers, etc... So they dont have a goal... They just live out the scenario...

One more HUGE note...
This is a realistic scenario! So no matrix-moves to avoid a bullet or a gang of undead.. Whoever doesnt play the scenario can do whatever he wishes to but dont ruin the scenario... Another thing!
For example. I belong to the Russian maffia and imported some drugs. I transported it and after a ride of two hours I got safely to the drop-off point.
So in the next post of someone else I defenetrly dont want to read.
Before the truck reached the drop-off point I blew it up... Dont! Accept your loss and know where the other outsmarted you and learn from your mistakes... I hope the moderators will keep an eye on this too cause otherwise this will end up the same way as the first scenario...

K this is mainly the new scenario...

Pack Rat I Pm'd you my view. I think you should use the scenario as an RPG as it is not anarchic enough for the snow arena. IMO the big problem is killing off the other players. The scenario is far too open to this kind of power play and will end in flames and tears. There were several who did not like the Snow Arena because when someone else was said to be dead they ignored it. But what is the alternative? In this game if I whip out a kalashnikov and waste three players they can't play any more!

Make it a role play, you lead it and orchestrate the confrontations and it could work very well and I'd happily join in. Non sono Italiano, ma posso parlare italiano un po'. Italian mafiosi would seem ideal for me.

As a scenario for the snow arena I have considerable reservations.

I know and I fully agreed with you but the RPG I created is not really an RPG, it's more like an MMORPG. Since I didnt know if people would like it I decided to give it a test... And since we arent allowed to start new rpg's this is the only way for now

I like the snow arena the way it is....we could just start over in the same setting [world, not same exact place], maybe a different time.....with a different storyline. Not mafia style. The great thing about the snow arena is that anything can happen. it went from snowballs to huge loads of anti snow cannons. Completely unrealistic. Thats why it;s so fun......
