Well, it's been an interesting year for Spore so far. When I last posted here at the start of the year we all thought Spore would almost be in our hands by now - alas, no! Yet more delays have placed it into 2008, and so we watch it slip from our grasp once again. No-one really knows when it will finally be released (not even EA, though they are hopeful for Spring), though the recent hands-on that the press were allowed at Leipzig show that the game itself is complete, and just needs a little spit and polish. At least we know that EA intends to make sure that it's finished before they release it, quoting EA CEO John Riccitiello: "We will make the choice of shipping a better game than an on-time game given the high potential for this franchise".
New information has trickled through at a slow yet steady pace, picking up with the recent SIGGRAPH and Leipzig conventions. We now have over 435 screenshots on the site (that's 200 more than at the start of the year), 29 videos, 19 interviews and 59 previews as of this post! When I began this place with Dark0ne's help about a year ago now I thought Spore would be in the pre-release stages only for another year tops, and then I could concentrate on trying to deliver unique services for players of the game. It seems that will have to wait for now!
Once again, thanks for all the interest guys - the site has had a considerable 27,000 hits since its opening roughly a year ago. Hopefully I can manage to make the place even more popular!

2 days after i go back to school ....... oh well i shall have something to daydream about

although i would rather they released it late than lose some quality

nothing a good patch couldn't take care of though

I would expect there to be the usual problems cropping up soon after release, especially since you have to activate the product online (unless they decide to change it at the last minute). If you can stand waiting awhile, you might just be better off waiting for a week or two after release to make sure that they have all their bugs worked ouit. As hard as that may be.

Knowing EA they wont fix everything in one small patch, it will be spanned out for acouple months or so.
