Uploading TOTF.7z at the moment. I got bored of waiting for it to finish so I started adding some images.

This looks and sounds amazing. I have not played the other mods that you mentioned but after reading the above "readme" I cannot wait for the file to become ready for download. You have obviously spent a lot of time and hard work into this and I anxiously await a chance to experience what your efforts have wrought.

Hmm, people downloading the TOTF.7z before my browser has even told me it has finished uploading. I feel complimented by your dedication.
In truth, my biggest concern with Tears of the Fiend are players who have played both The Legacy and The Butcher of Armindale being dissappointed with the initial sections of TotF. Not because it is bad by any means, but because there is nothing VISIBLE that they haven't seen. Everything operates behind the scenes in preparation for the closing stages of the MOD (or as I like to think of it, the culmination of the MOD in it's entirety.) I worry ad infanitum about how these individuals -who are probably my most dedicated fans- will find TotF. I can only hope they understand my reasoning behind the design structure for TotF.
And I think that ultimately, coupled with one of the many possible paths through the MOD, and the epilogue I have written for the TOTF guide (included with the TOTF.7z file) even the most dedicated players of The Legacy and The Butcher of Armindale will find satisfaction with how this MOD - the culmination of over a years work- plays out.

hmmm....
I see some screenshots from The Butcher of Armindale and The Legacy.
does that mean this mod comes with both?
i hope you don't think i'm a moron for asking this or anything hehe... ^^;

megadoomer - Not at all mate, I'm proud to say that this is probably the most confusing context of a MOD yet released for Oblivion =P
In answer, yes it does come with both. Furthermore, make sure you have DISABLED the individual Legacy.esp and Butcher.esp before loading up TOTF.esp else you will run into all manner of troubles.
As you may or may not know, The Legacy and the Butcher of Armindale were more or less parts of the same story (with The Legacy amounting to 2/3rds of the story, and The Butcher of Armindale amounting to the remaining 1/3rd.) Tears of the Fiend joins both MODs as if they were one, adds numerous interrelations and correlations between them to add complexity and reletivity between the two parts, and adds an addition section onto the end of the story.
Thus:
The Legacy = 2/4
The Butcher of Armindale = 1/4
Tears of the Fiend = 1/4
All together in one MOD, and all interrelated and convergent.
Ruined-Tail's Tale was a first for Oblivion (a story-driven companion MOD.)
The Legacy was a first for Oblivion (a multi-layered complex quest MOD with multiple endings and more lines of dialogue than the original Oblivion main quest).
And now Tears of the Fiend is a first for Oblivion, (a convergent multi-layered complex quest and story-driven companion MOD with multiple endings and a higher word count than the entire Oblivion game {including side quests, etc.})
I only hope it performs as well in the eyes of those who play it as I feel it deserves to. (Or maybe I'm just biast.)

I thought that I'd ask this before I install it. Could this mod conflict with Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul? I love Oscuros but I am very very intrigued by this mod as well and would like to know if the two mods running side by side would ruin eachother. Also if this is possible could loading them in a certain order help to bypass this. Either way I can tell already that this mod is well worth all of you effort. Thank you.

I'm truly pleased at the response so far. It's good to see that my MODs have had enough of an impact to warrant such excitement towards TOTF's release. I appreciate your positive comments more than you will ever imagine. It's also great to see so many people whom I have come to know through The Legacy, The Butcher and Ruined-Tail's threads returning with enthusiasm to investigate my latest MOD. Your commitment and dedication alone make the creation of this MOD entirely worthwhile.
Regarding other Mirrors... I find that those on the elderscrolls forums usually provide the most constructive feedback, which is why I only ever host it on one location (usually TES source) and ONLY advertise it on TES forums until I know for certain there are no problems that have somehow been overlooked. Once I know it is safe (usually a week or so after release) I upload to other locations. Rest assured, more mirrors coming soon.
FalseEmperor - Neither The Legacy nor The Butcher conflict with OOO, so I doubt that TOTF will, but don't hold me to that.

Truly Terrific! I thoroughly enjoyed your The Legacy, but I never tried out the Butcher of Armendale, but I am extremely looking forward to trying it out. I plan to try and make this as enjoyable as possible, for I love your modding. Gratz on the small notifications in Gaming Magazines by the way dude.

Okay I'm already downloading this MOD, but before I
START playing it I need to know if The Butcher and The Legacy are implemented [inside, as in I can play through those first] into this. I haven't gotten to play through either [I just started Ruined Tail's Tale earlier this week >.<] TBoA nor TL yet so I don't want to spoil it for myself,
A quick response would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'implemented', but I'll try to answer anyway (could do it earlier if it wasn't for my lacerated connection).
Tears of the Fiend as a mod consists of:
* The Legacy
* The Butcher of Armindale
* a bit of interaction between them
* the continuation and conclusion to the story

Excellent mod, it has a great story, memorable characters and events, etc. The quality of the mod is excellent. This is without a doubt the best companion/quest mod out there, and it is most certainly one of the best Oblivion mods that have been released.

CommentThis combined mod along with Ruined Tail's Tale are easily in my opinion the most well thought out and executed quest mods created for Oblivion. The quality of the characters and stories are next best thing to a good fantasy novel! Kudos from Western Australia

P.S. The little epilogue in the guide was a great conclusion to the tale

. If you ever plan on creating anymore of these fantastic mods and need plot ideas/voiceacting, I'd be honoured to help.
Hope to see you publishing a few novels, it's easy to tell they'd have great potential just from your oblivion mod plots!

Fantastic mod, better then half the quest strands in the original game!
I do have a little problem though...I don't hear any of the dialogue of Quest characters...the same with another Mod of yours, Ruin...I can hear his speech up to the point where I ask him about what's on his mind...then, though I see what he's saying in the subtitles, I can't hear anything. Any ideas how on how to rectify this?

The mod isn't fully voiced. If you don't hear the voice but see the subtitles long enough to read, it's normal.
There are some voices though. You'll see (or rather hear) when you complete the first part of the story.

*SPOILERS*
I'm having some trouble at the end, first of all, when you get poisoned at the end,
I seem to be stuck in dreamscape mode, cuz it still has the debuff on my screen, and also, when I do the whole 'run to allecia' deal, I follow the guide and climb the pillar and drop down to the passage to the bloodworks, but it tells me that I cannot leave the arena till all opponents are defeated.
Plus, during this time I CAN walk over to alliecia, but no matter what I do she only says the same thing over and over about how this 'has' to be done, etc.
And finally, once I started the 'rescue' portion of the quest, I go to chedinhal and find a mob named Cleon who follows me around and fights for me, but when I talk to him, I get a message about how he's a ghost, but he follows me everywhere and I can't do nothing with him, and if he dies, I get ported back to anvil and the quest acts as if though he died in the arena fight during the dream. >.<
Any suggestions on that?
Oh one last thing, Cleon really should stop being so freaking clingy. I swear, he hugs me wherever I go. Allecia stays a good distance away, but damn, Cleon is climbing all over me. ;b

I have yet to play this, but if any of your previous work is tobe an indication, then this will be truly a work of art.
Or in other words, a fecking good story with great characters and awsome locations and twists. I sincerely hope you make another of these great questlines so I can grace my load order even more with more of your creations. Well done to everyone behind this project.

Khandor - That Bloodworks problem was noted by RylAssassin earlier today. We think that we've discovered the problem, and we KNOW that it is instigated by running other MODs. There is still some debate about what MOD does it, but that should be resolved soon. Regardless, the issue will be fixed in the next update, and you can effect a temporary fix for this run through by bringing down the console and typing:
Set Arenaic.Fightover to 1
The "blurry" effect when you are poisoned is actually a mistake on my behalf. It has to do with having an == instead of an >= command on 1 of the scripts. Strangely enough I can't replicate it (it works fine on my version regardless of how long I rest) yet looking at the script I can SEE why you are getting the problem. If you have a save before the final Arena encounter (after poisoned) try resting for ONLY 2 hours and seeing what happens. If that doesn't work, maybe put off the final Arena battle until I can release an update.
With the rescue thing you were talking about... Ummm... Errr.... Hmmmm.... Arilita, any ideas?
Oh, and Cleon's clinginess... He's supposed to be creepy. He's a very disturbing individual. He's based on me after all. =P
Khandor
Jun 22 2007, 04:37 PM
Yea, but there's a difference between being creepy and being a pervert.
Anyways, I have literally a thousand mods, so it would be impossible for me to track down which one. ;b
As for the dreamscape, the wierd thing is, I have a mod that when I take damage it sets a red ring around the outter edges of my screen so I know when I take a hit, whenever I go into dreamscape It puts that ring on, which is really cool in a dream. ;b But I don't think I was ever actually poisoned cuz my vision never blurred. It may be because my character is argonian so I got huge resist disease I dunno. But I can always just drop allecia and cleon in some remote ayleid dungeon until you get it fixed.
This is a great mod, I hate having companions, but I like the story. :b
Arilita
Jun 22 2007, 04:45 PM
I dunno what's meant by 'rescue', but I suppose Khandor has the same bug as one of the players of TB 0.51 had long ago. I was unable to understand it then and I still have no idea now. My only suggestion - load a save before it happened and try again
Khandor
Jun 22 2007, 06:29 PM
I thought that's what it's called. It's when Cleon leaves and you gotta go find him and he captures you and you gotta remain silent to gain his trust again etc.

Will RUINED TAIL'S TALE mod work without conflict if I activate its esp while keeping TEARS OF THE FIEND? I'd like to keep Allecia as a permanent companion, which would not be possible if I need to deactivate its esp...

nightstalker270 - Your ONLY post in about 9 months is to hand out a rating of 1 with no justification or explanation whatsoever.
So, in 1 week (the total release time for this MOD) there has been approximately 1700 downloads, numerous individuals have completed the MOD flawlessly and provided me essay-length feedback on it. The only bugs anyone has identified have been smaller than the bugs found in 1.0 Vanilla Oblivion (which people pay out $80AUS for). Yet you still consider it viable to give a "1" rating for a problem which -since you haven't sought any help from Arilita or myself- I am willing to bet is NOT something this MOD actually influences.
One word describes you: Selfish.
Congratulations on achieving the epitome of patheticism.

So I'm at the part where you talk to the person, right? You know, with the sword? then you have to go all over the place and do the stuff they tell you to do, only when I get there, there's nothing there. Not even the purple kind of nothing. Just....nothing. I think it's a bug. You should do something to fix that cuz it's pretty serious. Until then, this mod isn't even worth a 1.
