Ok, i am just wondering, how many of you like xbox 360, hate it, or dont mind it. Also, you may hat it or like it do to its company and community as well. Remeber, no flaming, this is a view of opinion. I for one hate it for how mean there community is and how unreliable and snobby the company is.
Jonlissla
Simple. I hate it.

Why?

Because it has stolen all the good games lately, namely Halo 2 as well as Gears of Wars. It's also quite expensive, and the controls makes it difficult to play FPS or anything else than sport or racing games.

But of course, it has its good sides too. Like you don't have to buy the latest upgrades, like graphics cards and other stuff. So I guess it isn't ENTIRELY useless. Just... mostly. happy.gif
Dark0ne
I think hating a console because it isn't good for FPS games is weak reasoning.

Consoles like the XBox (and the 360) are simpler social tools than PCs and they definately have their uses. I've got some great memories of playing 4 player Burnout on the original XBox, watching my friend run through and complete all the Prince of Persia games, and me finally completing Ninja Gaiden as 8 other startled people watched in awe in the room. It's something that can't be replicated on the PC half as easily. Sure you can LAN it up but even with LAN Boys or Laptops you're still in for a harder time setting up and sorting things out than you are with consoles.

Similarly if you're willing to do a bit of underground stuff and modchip your XBox you're able to get some awesome new functionality; it's basically like a gaming PC and media PC (go look up what a media PC is if you don't know what one is) all lugged into one, for cheaper than a decent PC, which can be hooked up to a 40'' plasma (oh yes, we have one wink.gif) with better results than a PC.

Consoles are awesome. PC's are awesome. Gaming is awesome. End of.
Vagrant0
I don't do console gaming myself any more, I just prefer being able to mod and tweak games too much. Being stuck with what devs thought was best for everyone usually sucks. While the controls are a bit easier in some cases, you can always use a gamepad on a PC. The main advantage of Xbox is that it's cheaper than a gaming PC with roughly the same specs if that's all you want to do. When you considder the less legal advantages, I believe I heard somewhere people using old Xbox's as file servers or something. It's a processor, hard drive, cooling, videocard and modem... All you really need. Now that the old ones are fairly cheap, you could probably see about linking them up in parallel for cheap processing... they stack pretty well too. I would imagine that the 360 would have the same potential once it's past its prime.
IamBatosai
I agree with Dark0ne, I like the consoles, I like PC's. Ah Burnout, Prince of Persia, and Ninja Gaiden. All fine games. None of which (as far as I know) are available on PC.

QUOTE

Dark0ne hit the nail on the head with that comment.
Povuholo
Consoles aren't that bad. Not directly, that is. The problem is the games that are made for it. Because many kids buy consoles, game companies want to make sure their games are playable (dumbed down) for them. And if a PC version is made it'll suffer from it.

actully if you mod/chip your 360, you cant play online, microsoft can find out and ban your xbox.
just goes to show how snobby and evil microsoft is

i hate xbox360 for a number of reasons
1 i am a playstation fanboy
2 microsoft is evil
3 the 360 contolers are a rip off of playstation controlers
4 360 owners are snobby and up themselves, they think they are the greatest gamers ever

if you despise xbox360 and would like to to join cyronaxes and my crusade against it, please, PM one of us
(preferably cyronaxes, i'm lazy)

The main problem with the xbox 360 (and consoles in general) is the ripoff scheme of exclusive titles. Someone in the marketing department decides to make Halo (or whatever) xbox-exclusive, so you have to buy their console to play it. Or if you're a PC gamer, you just get screwed and miss out on potentially interesting games.

Yes, how dare they, what evil corporate oppression you have to deal with. How dare they deny you the free service you are clearly entitled to, even when you try to cheat and steal their games. It's just such a poor, pathetic existence, isn't it?

Doesn't it suck to watch Sony run the playstation into the ground? I mean, it's beautiful, in a way, the sheer stupidity of whoever's in charge there. I almost have to suspect the head of their console division is on Microsoft's payroll, laughing his way to the bank.

No, just no. You're not going to use these forums as a staging ground for pathetic, childish troll attacks on other forums. Please just leave if all you're going to do is act immature.

Post reported, of course. How I wish I had my moderator powers back, then things would really be fun!

jokes on you peregrine, i reported the post in pc gaming you made, y'know the one where you did nothing but flame? I dout the moderators will get as mad at me as they will you, you've just been allowed to post again, and your already flaming, i just told some people some stuff that isnt even close to flaming.

For the record. I do like 360s. I also like Wiis and PS3s. I'd own them all, if I had enough money to do so. However, <adopts strong Yorkshire accent> you just don't get Value For Money with consoles, <goes back to mild Yorkshire accent> and I feel that PCs give much better VFM.
Switch
Hmm yes I don't see any actual flaming here. It's not a forum offence to PM stuff as far as I know. You can't really police PMs. It'd only be if they tried to open another thread about it that they'd be in trouble. wink.gif

Back on-topic, I don't mind the 360 as much as I used to. They're starting to spread beyond the "FPS and mindless carnage or PC ports" kind of mentality that we saw with the Xbox line-up of games. Of course this means they're better competition for the other consoles, but in the end Microsoft is just something we have to put up with... they're not going to go away any time soon. At least if the 360 starts to have decent games it isn't so bad. Of course I'd still take the PS3 over the 360 any day, but it's starting to look like, as Peregrine says, the PS3 won't last much longer under Sony's bafflingly stupid administration. Hopefully that will change. I don't own any of the next-gen consoles yet... I'm biding my time and seeing what happens.
maralbert
I think the 360 is good. It has a large community and plenty of services and it shows that microsoft are also being intelligent and catering for the console market. The PC is best though.

Reson 1

XBOX live has 6 million users online
The PC has 8 million for World of Warcraft alone

Reason 2

If there is an upgrade you just buy that upgrade to make your PC better rather than wating for the next gen console.

Reason 3

Anything a console can do a PC can do much better wink.gif

So the 360 is stealing all the good games, at least they are selling good games for a reasonable price, the PS3 has games at around £50 - £70 a game, ontop of the neraly £500 console, broadband and server subscription (Should you choose ot have it)
rpsnow
I have a WII and it is fine machine which sells well, I also own a PS3 which is IMHO (looks aside) a damn fine piece of engineering.

My main gripe with the 360 is reliability, offficial stats put the failiure rate for 360's at 30-35%,
compared to the 1% for PS3's. The red ring of doom and disc chewing when they fail are well
documented. AFAIK MS owns both CNN & NBC which leads to some very biased views on the PS3.
Ironically many of the overheating and laser problems that plague 360's have been seen before,
where?, why on the original xbox of course!.

Sony may not be paragons of virtue, but compared to the spyware in windows and MS own anti-spy spyware they do not look so bad. Many of Windows so called helpful features are just snooping.!

MS likes to use low tatics on any competion, but it has been forced to realise (with release of the 360 elite) that the capacity of a DVD just does not cut it when compared the 30 gig BD rom the PS3 uses. HD graphics require bigger discs. (a moot point since a 360 just does not have the raw cpu power for 1080p games, adding HDMI to the 360 elite also being of debatable use)

PS3 has free online play, MS charge 70 US dollars for this. PS3 has a 9 core cpu compared to a 2 or 3
core cpu of the 360, though the PS3 is apparently trickier to develop for.

Sony are far from perfect, not paying royalties to the company who developed the dualshock technology led to legal action and Sony being too cheap to pay up just removed the function from
the PS3 controllers, rumor has it they are now going to pay up so it can be added again. This said
Sony did at least develop (or commission developement of) a unique and powerful custom CPU for their console and add some nice features.

On the other hand MS was a tad too clever when they added a venting hole to help solve a known 360 overheating problem (caused by poor component placement), what they failed to notice was that the hole is covered if you use the console in the vertical position. AFAIK the 360 still uses mostly off the shelf PC and nvidia chipset technology (which in itself is not exactly a bad thing, but hardly new)

The choice boils down to this: PS3 is technically better (somebody test ran a PS3 for 108 hours solid and it kept working) but needs time for developers get to grips with, but the 360 has the huge marketing machine of Bill behind it.

I buy PS3 games at a local branch of Gamestation in London and I have never seen them for 70 pounds,
I paid 420 pounds for my PS3 at gamestation (and sadly the price dropped just after I bought it (: ) and
the games are 50 pounds max. Besides if you already have broadband on you PC and a wireless router
(be sure to use WPA encryption though) you can just connect via that since PS3 has wireless built in.
Some newer games are hitting the 35 quid mark and of course online gaming (unlike the 360) is free
on PS3

I don't mind the 360. I don't like it, but I don't mind it. It is better than the PS3, which will fail and, in doing so, bankrupt Sony (their games division is their main money-maker), but the way so many great games are being made Xbox exclusive is very irritating. And Microsoft bought Rare angry.gif

The Wii is probably the best console- its cheapest, most fun to play, has some really great games (such as Zelda), has free online connection, with a web browser, and it has the virtual console, which means it has better backwards compatibility than any other console, ever.

But I don't play consoles that much anymore, because the PC is just so much better. Sure, a good one may be more expensive, but it can do so much more- I can do homework, chat to friends, browse these forums, etc, as well as play games, which makes it worth the extra cost.
DireStorms
I have always been an Xbox gamer, even after I bought my computer. I was one of the first to buy an Xbox360, unfortunately I had to trade it in for a new one at Best Buy 12 times within a period of one year, yes, 12 times angry.gif . I took very good care of it yet everything you can Imagine went wrong until my thirteenth one that I have now. They started getting suspicious of why I had to bring it back so many times, I told them to take it up with the people that made it if they have a problem with it, its not like I enjoy taking it back and waiting in line over and over. It also destroyed my first copy of Oblivion, they didn't want to reimburse me, so I raised some hell and they finally did. My advice to anyone considering buying one, get the insurance or don't get it at all, or you will end up with a very pricey paperweight. As far as gameplay for the 360 goes, I enjoy Xbox360 games on my HDTV because the graphics are acceptional, but it could definitely be better. I have to agree with the fact that there is no console that exists today that can match PC gaming. Ultimately its up to the different gamers to decide for themselves.

Ok, here is why I hate all the consoles but the Wii: They are lowering the quality of games due to their consumer base. Why do I not loath the Wii? Well, it is the only main console that is not trying to emulate PC-style games in an attempt to attract "hardcore" gamers. Since the introduction of the X-box and the X-box 360, the overall quality of games has decreased dramatically - and both developers and players have laid some, if not most, of the blame on the X-box and 360's doorstep. In forum after forum all I hear about is how console-kiddies love their systems and how horrible modifications are because, of course, if something is not available to them it must not be worth having. I'll write more later, but I'm in the middle of a college essay at the moment -hence my messy writing- and I have to finish that...

i think the xbox 360 is excellent and think that anyone who thinks that it is rubbish for some minor reason is stupid. i think that the ps3 is clearly better than it and cant stand anyone who owns a 360 and says that its better than a ps3 just because they couldn't afford to the extra cash for a ps3 (which is usually the case). i think that pc gaming is far ahead of every console because its just alot better in so many ways, one example is what this website is for, moding. i think that wii's are terrible, they lose their novelty very quickly and soon you cant be arsed to play anything as of the energy involved, the graphics are worse (though graphics arn't everything, they help) and are soon only good for when mates come over.

Now that just shows what a lazy bum you are. Most games don't even require that much work. The most other games havbe are pointing with the Wiimote and occasionally shaking it violently (Like in Resident Evil when you have to dodge something). If you're too lazy to point and click, then you are truly pathetic.

As for hating the X-Box for no good reason, there's aways the Red Ring of Death. Now it may just be me, but when the 360 crashes for no apparent reason, I tend to get mad. If it does this constantly, I tend to hate the 360. Although, who knows. Maybe you like it when that happens.
Also the fact that most games require an HDTV is pretty bad, too. I don't even have to money for a 360 let alone that and an HDTV.

Ah, ninja_lord, our future Peregrine! Someone has to continue his legacy, eh? biggrin.gif

As for me, I don't really care about Xbox. It's alot more expensive, and the only thing you can do is play on it, not open documents or check your mail.

However....

When it comes to racing games or fighting games like Tekken, then console is WAAAAY superior than PC.
}{ellKnight
OK, lets see... console vs PC... hmm, I'll take my hunk'of'junk PC thank you wink.gif
I still remember Exnem's words about PCs and consoles...
It's a lot like music! You go to the club (damn, that reminded me about the Festa Erotica LOL) with friends and listen to a certain type of music. But when you're alone you don't listen to that same kind of music (at least I don't since I'm a rock fan). In a certain way consoles and PCs are the same. You can have a great time with some friends and a console. But when I feel like playing something serious I use my PC!
Besides, I can mod my games on a PC while on a console I can't do that wink.gif I don't care to much about consoles (to be honest I hope they all blow up in flames but that's just me LOL).
The_Terminator
Couldn't have put it better myself!

i am sorry to clutter your mind with images related to 'anal', it was a simple spelling mistake but i will learn from this. once again (though this time correct)

that is the best analogy about consoles ever.

i dont see how the mistake makes you think of 'anal' and the correct not as they still have 'anal' in unless you spelled the corrected word wrong. anyway, that is a good analogy as i seem to stray away from the PC whenever mates come over but stick to it when on my own.

I'm happy with the Mozilla spellcheck... chaos may insue if I wouldn't have that active tongue.gif

The reason why most people hate the 360 is because they have to waste money on another console when they got the original Xbox, and Microsoft wants everyone to get the 360. I think the sole purpose for why Microsoft forces everyone to get the 360, is only for collecting money. That's what I believe. You don't have to agree with me on this, but that's my solution. The 360 elites have a few bugs in them, because of the lack of laziness from Microsoft. I vote that I don't really care about it good or bad.

The first time it got released, and nobody wanted it, is because there weren't enough games for it. All there was is like Rainbow Six, Call of Duty, and various games. Why do we need another console? That's the big question. They could've made Halo 3 for the original Xbox, but Microsoft is actually contradicting themselves, so they made the Xbox 360 for what reason, I believe that it's a waste of money. I think Microsoft's funds are currently good enough. They really don't need more.

Well, that's what I believe. However, I own the 360 now, and it cost me 500 bucks, so my conclusion is that Microsoft might be collecting money. That's why I wanted to state my point.

What's so wrong with making money? Money is the lifeblood of our economy. Without it, everything collapses. If a company doesn't earn money, it dies.

$500? You bought the moron edition, didn't you? Or, you may have been seriously ripped off. Either way, you're still a moron. If you did buy the X-box 360 Elite, tell me, what are you going to do with 120GB of memory?
