Before anyone asks... this has been confirmed multiple times. Spore has almost certainly been delayed until EA's fiscal year 2009, which starts April 2008. This seems familiar, as though it's happened before... wait, it has! Let's just hope they're making it better rather than worse.

On the brighter side of the news, Spore will feature in GamePro magazine's June 2007 issue. So if you happen to be in an area where that magazine is available, be sure to pick it up.

Looks like we could be sitting here like this for a loooooong time.

What! blink.gif

Well there's nothing to do about it. Maybe we should all go in hibernation when it's winter again...

Mmm... I'm going to freeze myself using 12345678987654321 ice cubes until Spore's release!

As is often the case with high-profile titles, quality control concerns were behind the delay. "We're focusing on quality to make sure we build a franchise that feels more like The Sims, a franchise that we hope...to see around for some time in the future." Riccitiello promised, hinting the publisher has big plans for the property.

Hopefully this is the case and the game won't be as bugged as so many others that have been released lately. Although it really just sounds like more excuses. Don't they know that releasing another Sims expansion every 6 months effectivly killed their market, resulting in lower gains after each one? Those that couldn't afford to buy one in the chain just stopped buying the rest in the chain. All the other little things like holding back content to sell seperately as an add-on pack, changing file versions, and such only created further reason to just stop. No, probably not. Hopefully with spore they'll be a bit wiser and not gown that road. Or maybe they're spending more time to look into a more console friendly release. The way the game is setup it would seem perfect for the 360 crowd.

Good point. They should have time to do those now.

All the delays... I hope it doesn't end up released with outdated graphics... Of course not the most important aspect of Spore, but quality graphics are always welcome, especially when you can create your own creatures.

Hopefully spore turns out to be as good as everyone has been saying it will be. I don't mind waiting a while longer, if they fix some things and make the game a whole lot better.

I hope they have time to put in underwater creatures, they might have time now.

WHEW! thats a relief, uhh i mean that when i first saw the title of this thread i thought Spore was canceled.

I admit that sux, but look at all the titles that are delayed every year, most of them turn out to be very good. and besides if i have to wait another year to get underwater creatures and a game that has a more chance of being good, than so be it. I just got to hide my from myself now, just kidding biggrin.gif

Well, in reality, the game could be out in less than a year given that EA's fiscal year ends in April of '08. I still wish someone else bought Maxis sometimes. I think EA's priorities are out of whack alot of the time. In any case, its one of those "it'll be out when its out" kind of games. Keep your fingers crossed everyone. wacko.gif

Strange and confusing news, PCGamer (uk) have november as a date huh.gif

Sooo... who's right?
Switch
The latest issue of PC Gamer came out in the UK on the 10th, and this news is from the 9th. The magazine would have already been in printing by then I would think, so they wouldn't have had time to correct it. So I would say the fiscal report news is correct... I don't think there's any point getting our hopes up for any date before April '08 unless EA or Maxis say otherwise.

Please, EA, say otherwise.

I'm with Ginji on this, please EA make Spore come out this year. It sounds and looks like such a cool game. Don't make the followers wait till 08.
Ginji
I'll probably forget about Spore around Christmas time.
Then there'll be some massive video or somthing and I'll get back into it.

But at least EA are taking time so that they don't have a massive buggy game, insted of releasing it early just to make a quick buck.

Yes, I find this quite surprising. Maybe EA are starting to see the light? ohmy.gif... Naah.

Just in case there were any people still hoping for a Christmas release... more confirmation. Sounds like EA have officially announced this and their stocks have taken a bit of a beating as a result.
