I just got the game from a friend who isn't playing it at all. He got it as a B-Day present, but doesn't like RPGs. I start the game and everything seems to run fine but the only map that I get is the small one in the bottom right corner. When I right click into the menu, there's no map. Someone told me that I'm supposed to get a map. The game is bloody anoying without one. Has anyone else had this problem?

During game-play, you should be able to right-click to bring up your map as well as several other windows. Don't right-click the little map in the corner, specificially, just right-click. See if that solves your problem.

I wasn't right clicking the map. I get the character info screen, the skill screen and the inventory screen. I just don't get the map.

Is there something I could have done to turn it off?

Yeah, right click to bring up the menus, then left click the small map in the corner. Left clicking any of the smaller displays turns off/on the larger one, so you can turn stuff off to clear the screen if you don't use it.
