So it's everything I expected, and more! wink.gif

Just to clarify; it is just a mod for BF2 that they're trying to market as a completely new game, right?
mogambo
Brand spanking new game!

Yes, I know it's a "new game" as such, but it uses the BF2 engine. To be honest it's just new models, vehicles, guns, ranks and maps with a titan thrown in; correct? That's what people call a mod.

This wouldn't be too bad if they did 'future' ads, as in Unreal Tournament, if they do ads for current products, that would certainly spoil the mood.

well, after reading this EA, has just lost themselves a customer.

right on! too bad it's been delayed to 07, oh well

What's the point? if any! I can understand it in "sports" games, because it boosts "reality" but in a wargame? What product could benefit from this? Don't think a brand would think this would acutally boost their sales.
General_Crespin
I'm going to wait and see how they implement this before forming an opinion. They could do it well.

If it helps.

BF2142 is a new game in its own right and is not a an expansion of the current BF2 engine.

Having played in the closed and open beta I have to say that it is worth playing; being a SF setting I noticed an emphasis on playability that could avoid the "But in real life" issues.

On the map used for the beta there were no advertismants but there were panels obviously awaiting the advertisments.

Use to play BF2 (Vanilla) a lot and with the english section of a clan when my shifts allowed. Unfortunately whilst away for a bit there was a bust up and came back to find my usual crowd scattered. Tied in with the point where one needed multiple thousands of points to progress and the interest ended. Was hoping to start afresh with BF2142 and will be playing it when it comes out, but 2007 now?.......sad.gif
Dark0ne
I've heard no reports of it being delayed?

It uses the same engine, with the same mediocre graphics. It's simply the same engine with new textures, models, ranks, guns and vehicles -- basically a modification you're going to be paying £35 (or maybe even £39.99) for.

I'll stand corrected but thought I read it was a new engine, must be confusing it with something else. As for the graphics, personally I did not find them mediocre, and I have a respectable machine.

What makes these games is the team play and I suppose a new game presents a new opportunity.

I agree, the team play was great, but I refuse to support developers like Dice and EA who take 4 months to patch a game that isn't working.

Hence why I'm waiting for ET:QW which will be a far superior game made by a far superior company.
BHWolf

ET:QW?

Quake Wars?

BTW I suppose your BF2 games are with the Euro dowloads, etc?
BHWolf
Further to the above.

Having just started playing the Dark Messiah Beta, I don't think I will be getting BF2142 now as there will not be enough hours to play both. biggrin.gif
Dark0ne
DMoMM and NWN2 coming out in October. Reason enough not to buy BF2142 and wait for QW smile.gif
mogambo
Im gonna post you 2142 just to annoy you.

Whats the Dark Messiah Beta like? I like the game prob cos of the source engine jiggery pokery, so ill prob get it and get confused like i do with all RPG's.
Dark0ne
It's not an RPG; imagine BF2 where more kills = better weapons and skills within a single round. That's DMoMM multiplayer wink.gif

For some reason I seem to have lost the knack today and it is most irritating. wacko.gif
