No one can fail to notice how rude the inhabitants are in Seyda Neen about what you are wearing. Good idea is to get to Balmora, break into Ondres Nerano's manor bedroom. In the chest of drawers is a full set of exquisite clothing. This increases NPCs friendliness towards you. They are also ideal for enchanting with permanent spells like water walking, water breathing, levitate and night-eye etc.

I rather made the mistake of putting water walking on the pants. Now if I want to submerge I have to strip. Still it's all a bit more realistic that way.

Really? Cool, ill write it down ^_^ smile.gif

You're saying you have to strip to water walk? Interesting.

er...I think hes saying he has to strip NOT to water walk
Malchik
Superunknown has it in one!
Hizentaru
Oooh. Sorry I misunderstood what Malchik was saying. Pardon my previous brainfart.
Stampede
When I start new characters and they are dressed in the generic outfits, I've heard npcs comment about me looking like a farmer, or that a they've seen better outfits on a guar.

However I'm not sure if it's because they just didnt like my custom made orc who had a personality of about 10 and a strength of 70 to deal with critics. I think if npcs have a high disposition towards you they'll probably say you look great in anything the kisser uppers.
Mojlnir
I prefer to dress my character in an odd assortment of clothes. I find that skirts or cloaks cover armor very well and a certain feeling of stealth to my endeavors. I am also rather amused by the comments made by Ordinators when you walk by them unclothed. My character is not "ashamed" but rather proud to display his battle hardened physique. That and the fact that most of my clothes are stolen and when the Ordinators come knocking, naked I'll be walking. ph34r.gif
Ta'Thalos
I use robes as well!
I used some really boring normal robes for a ong time, before I found the base of one of the Vampire Clans, and then I took one of their robes; they're dark brown, and I thought they looked really cool on my Nord.
And then, after I had finished the suicide cult mission in Tribunal, I taunted and killed that guy (can't remember his name) just so I could get his cool white robes! biggrin.gif
Let me tell you, they look really good with a near-full set of High Ordinator armour; and it's great camouflage for the snowy regions of Solstheim! biggrin.gif
Dijas
When I get out of Census and Excise Offices, I usually go get Processius's robe and Tahriel's clothes. Done!
Yazatus
My character uses Therana's Skirt (enchanted Water Walking and +6 Speed).
An exquisite shirt and extravagant pants and a cape (+ ebony equip except armor etc. wink.gif ).
Cute and stuff
My kitty wears the yellow hat on her head. Sometimes she takes it off and does her kitty business in it.

I wish morrowind was multiplayer.
Faust_87
Its really easy to find good clothing, just go to manors...normally people there are rich.... biggrin.gif

I think that unless this kitty wishes to be shown to the catflap this kitty had better get itself some housetraining <_<

This is the MORROWIND LORE forum - the place where aspects of Morrowind can be discussed in depth.

The topic at hand is clothes - so a remark about multiplayer is wholly out of place.

Now, let's try to get this back on topic, shall we?

Does armour have a clothing modifier rating? My character wouldn't dream of hiding the sparkling beauty of her glass armour under a robe, and since Vvardenfell isn't particularly cold she feels no need for thermal underwear or vests either.....yet people keep making envious remarks how well she must be doing for herself to afford such a splendid outfit. Her jewellery is, of course, exquisitely tasteful - yet I wouldn't have thought that that alone would be enough for such sycophantic comments.... Perhaps the evil gleam in her eyes and the Daedric Dai-katana ever reay to strike could have something to do with it?

Has anyone noticed, however, that the textile industry in Morrowind is a virtual monopoly? Social gatherings of the high nobility must be tense affairs..... there is only so much accessorizing you can do, after all, when your exquisite outfit has obviously been made by the same tailor as everybody else's.
FrozenGod86
Great pretty clothes people like you but you have no money so what is the point?
Anyways if you did have money you could just bribe.

This has been overthought way too much

When i (finally) got hold of my full set glass armour, i showed (bad grammar; should it be shone? ) it to the world proudly. But then i realised that the wizard within me needed to be clothéd in robes with stars on a la Discworld. So i found some nice enchanted exquisite robes and wore it with pride.

Why can't someone out there create a pointy hat mod? I got the black and white robes mod (i forget the maker; sorry) which didnt work on my PC anyway  but a pointy hat is essential to any wizard, if any of you have read the above book series you will know what i mean...
Malchik
A Discworld mod for Morrowind - lovemeetc. There is your challenge for the day. Why not. if you can have Middle Earth? Not sure about copyright laws though. Still you could do the pointy hats and staffs with knobs on the end to your heart's content. And if Theta weren't locked up in Iredor (sorry abot the spelling but I'm still recovering from last night's bender) she would be designing the Haute Couture mod to go with wesaynothing's Haute Cuisine mod and my Highbrow music mod of which much might be said. But until these are forthcoming...

What does surprise me is that the cheaper the clothing the more choice there is. Bit topsy-turvy this Morrowind place, isn't it?

Perhaps because fewer people buy it, so there is less demand, hence less choice. However I have noticed that there are a large number of expensive/extravegent robes that look pretty cool on a wizard type (you have to have robes reallly) but the to exquistite one there is only one choice and it doesn't look great.

2 qeustions:

Anyone recommend a mod for good looking robes with decent enchantment values

Second, has anyone noticed how some armour (glass springs to mind) sticks out in places from the robe
mercurybard
Glass armor pokes out all over the place. I particularly like how the pauldrons from the Her Hand armor look like wings when you wear them over a cloak.

Also, if you want to get a nice robe real early in the game without paying a cent, loot the body of the mage who falls out of the sky near Seyda Neen. He is nicely dressed. B)

Personally, my Nord bard wears common traveling robes, which he changes regularly (fickle taste, you know). It's easier to throw a cheap robe away than try and clean the road dust out of an expensive one. His lovers (created using the Partners Mod) dressing according to their station in life.
Dr. Corbett
Eh, I'd have to say that, when I get to uberly (hehe) high levels, I just dress my character up in the most exquisite stuff money can buy / I can kill for and walk about, keeping a DDK or whatever weapon of choice in my inventory. The Royal Robes and Signet Ring go together wonderfully. ;-)
ShinJiOh
i just bouhgt this cheap 15 gold robe that restores 50 health and people say" i haven't seen a bosmer in such a grand outfit in some time" is that bargain or what
proxis
Are there any black rodes in morrowind, tribunal or bloodmoon (no mods plz)? im trying to made my dude look as daedric as possible. :nazgul:
Stormscape
nope, sorry. mods only.

Nope- the Glenmoril Witch robe is black. It can be found on a Witch in the Gloomy Cave. But, you have to be a werewolf for these witches (and a large crow!)to appear.
DragoonFurey
Where is the gloomy cave? is that on the bloodmoon island? i ditched that place as soon as i finished the main quest, the lag from all the damn pine trees was irritating me.
cmac
Yes, it is on Solstheim. May I refer you to this thread...
