Okay so the problem is; I have made the Brush with Death quest to the point where good ol' Rythie paints us back to the real world. But no, the portal wont show up sad.gif
I have loaded the game 3 times and its the same result again and again. Anyone know whats it about? sad.gif
Malchik
It happened to me once but reloading fixed it. If you are on PC you can probably use a console command to end the quest. It may have something to do with where you are standing. Try moving to a different point just before he is supposed to paint the portal.

I've reloaded like a hundred times but it doesn't help... sad.gif

What kind of a console command should I use?
Malchik
You have given him the brush?

I don't use console commands much but it will be something like GetStage MS14 = 75 (or = 80). Someone else may have a better idea.
Switch
CODE
setstage MS14 80
coc 00030421

That should get the quest to the point where you've exited the portal, and place you back inside Rythe's home. Hope that helps. ^^

Yes, I've given him the brush. He starts to paint the doorway back, but nothing appears...

After I entered the "setstage MS14 80" a message that I had arrived at back at the studio and should talk to him appeared, but I was still in the forest. Typing "coc 0003042" did nothing. So I'm still stuck at the forest. sad.gif
Switch
That's odd. It should have worked... try these instead:

CODE
coc 00005DD2
coc 00005DD3
coc 00005DF0
coc CheydinhalRythesHouse

Those first three should dump you somewhere in the Cheydinhal exterior. If they don't work, I've just done the last one in case it accepts non-hex values as well... if none of that works then I'm kind of stumped. ^^; Revert to an earlier save?
Deater
Bingo! The last one (coc CheydinhalRythesHouse) did the trick! Thanks ever so much!

Now I can go back to Oblivion wink.gif

If you ever have that kind of problem where you cant out of somewhere and its inside so you cant fast travel, just take another quest and put "movetoqt" to console. It moves you there where the quest location is.

Well I will probably get into trouble for this, but I think what I have to say is relevant.

Remember that when you go into the painted forest, you are going through an Oblivion portal.

If you have not completed the first oblivion gate in the main quest, you do not have the key to the gates.

I experienced the same problem several times until I found out that although I did not need the first oblivion gate key to get into the painted forest, when I had the key I had no problems getting out. Just another one of those odd quest requirements.

Get the key before you attempt 'a brush with death'.

Hmm - you are right about getting into trouble by re-activating a thread nearly a year old. Think, is the original poster still going to be interested? More to the point your info is not correct. You DO NOT need to have been anywhere near an Oblivion gate to do this quest. If you believe you did you are under a misapprehension.

Time to kill this thread.
