excl.gif PLEASE READ THIS. TRUST ME.
Has anybody actually thought of doing MEMod, with all of MEMods features, like the differences in the storyline depending on who you choose and so on, but instead of setting it in middle earth, set it in the elder scrolls universe, and since it's just a mod, It wouldn't be illegal.
Before anybody Tells me off, I can't find a post warning me off suggesting this, so I'm free to say it. Viva freedom of speech!

The MEMod has been dead for a looooong time now. No point posting that here.

so, let's see... you want a immersive, indepth RPG with complex intelligent plotlines, attentive detail and over-abundance of gameplay, complex design, and an emphasis on realistic difficulty and environment?

never going to happen. No sort of idiot would ever produce such a game. And it would'nt sell enough among the masses...

This is a crap idea.

"never going to happen. No sort of idiot would ever produce such a game..."

Yeah..And i wonder if i am the only one thinking that oblivion is an awful new example of that.
I was very much disappointed, and surprisingly not feeling any need of playing it again.
If it wasnt for the tons of mods i am not even sure it would've lasted that long..

On the other hand i started morrowind over many times and had it on comp for years..

*btw isnt that sick that after almost 2 years there are still life here from time to time? biggrin.gif

Oblivion is nothing more than a "prettier" version of Morrowind with only a few gamelpay improvements.

The boring factor still applies.

Of which some "improvements" are not improvements at all.

Well... Big storyline+MEmod features= Total Conversion.

Sure there will be big quests, but I don't think there will be a fully released TC (total conversion). Not for Oblivion, and certainly not for Morrowind since the game isn't played as much as before anymore... There have only been 2 or 3 TC successfully made in Morrowind in all those years, and only one of them is actually big.If there will be one for Oblivion it will take VERY LONG, so it has no use thinking about it now unless you would want to make one yourself (with a team of course).

Samdude, with respect to all the other people who have spoken, your idea has value... or rather would have had value long ago when MeMod was stopped. The only problem with the idea is that MeMod was based on the lore and appeal of the Middle Earth setting. And that lore and all is the copyrighted material. Now I can see you probably meant to just take the idea of a sweeping epic storyline and realism and all the other shnazz that was to be in MEMod and move it to the Elder Scrolls universe. But in the transition it loses the romance of the idea and the problem still remains that, even if we had been paid professionals, it probably would never have been completed. Our voracious appetite for perfection and detail would never have been satisfied. And I'll just say again, the setting was the major appeal-- the storyline in this setting was the major appeal-- it just wouldn't have been the same if it was set in Vvardenfel, Cyrodil, Skyrim, or anywhere else in the Elderscrolls universe.

but I'll say it was a good thought, and its nice to hear people still think about MEMod every now and then.

for how long has this whole place been so dead? for how long have you all been so condecending? this whole idea is... well... it's stunning, really. it's one of the best ideas i've heard of in a while. why in hell do you all deny the even slim possibility of something like this working? i know, i know. coders, marketing, illegal poo. but really? really? and aren't you smart enouth to think of a new idea? fable is a nice exmple. it used new enemies. it used new functions. why can't you do that? just looking at a quarter of the mods i've seen on this website and and other fan sites, i'm blown away. how do you modders do half of the poo you do? there is one mod, the one where you need to eat and drink. it is phanominal. i can't half script a damn book to summon a dremora. but the people who make these mods can create faces.
weapons.
armor.
quests.
dialauge.
for a moment look at the better bodies mod. how many avenues did that open up? there are so many new clothing items. so many armors. so many new possiblitys for high res amazing quest lines that are made believeable because of it.
when you amazing modders and things... you say we won't recieve? how... like... how does that apply? how could you say there is no customer base when half of the Elder Scrolls and Tolkien fans don't even know what MEmod is? you don't have a leg to stand on when what you have to show for your "trying" is a few patches and a mesh. sure, they are cool. and you have no time. but if you just look in and see that you are stopping yourselves from making something everyone could connect to-not just die hard tolkien fans or Elder scrolls fans- but everyone. what was the LotR turn out? how many people loved KotOR? i did. my friends did. the %&$!nosed jocks at my highschool did. the immature little kids who think life is just about getting wet did. and people made them for money, and for us. for pride.
how many people go home and say, "i am part of this really sweet, uber huge team to make the very best video game."? not i. and not six and a half billion other people. so are you different? are you going to go and do something? or will you daydream at your dead end job about a great idea and be one on one? the rest of the six and a half billion people who don't give a damn.
i am passionate about the begenning. the ending. and the very center. are you? or will you begin and then say "it's too hard, i'm not good enough, i don't have enough time, my job is stressful" bullpoo?

if none of you reply, sure, good, whatever. but don't just give up. it's not a waste. one guy... he got fourty eight percent done... can't you do that? can't you finish that?
