This is probably the best picture I have ever made in such a short amount of time. Just two models, a glass, and a simple three-plane-environment. The lightning was the only thing that took some time to get right, setting up the right light is important if one want to get a good "shiny" effect on the glass.
Feedback appreciated happy.gif

Ohh very nice. biggrin.gif Excellent work Gabbe.

And er... is this a mispost? I would have thought you'd know what topics go where by now. tongue.gif

Anyway, moving this to Druid's Garden...

Nice work, I have blender, but the mass amount of buttons intimidated me.

I think that's a goblet...although it is a glass gpblet. It's all shinyful!

I want to learn how to make things like this in Blender, any suggestions on how one could go about doing that.

Should be something here, if you have time to try a page or two. EDIT (of results)

I've looked over the first few pages of this site, and it seemed pretty understandable to me...and I too have blender installed but couldn't figure out how to make it work.

Acually a few months ago I tried that tutorial, I couldnt get the guy to smooth out from being a square man.

Try the wikibook "Blender 3D Noob to Pro", and all the other tutorials on Wikipedia.

Two things:

1) The lighting needs some work. Enable global illumination, radiosity and shadows.

2) This is really key: the most important thing in making a convincing reflective material is having a good environment to reflect. If nothing else, set a spherical environment map with some good high-contrast areas. Right now it looks really flat, since it's just reflecting that plain red wall.

I posted this picture Jun 2 2006, 08:21 AM. This is a very old picture, so don't judge my 3D-skills after this picture.
