Ok after I completed the Larrius Varrio (or whatever) quest where I sacked the Council Club at Balmora and he cleared my bounty the guards still freaking attack me. What's the deal and is there a way to fix this little oversight of Bethseda's?

Well. My very first game of Morrowind I had this problem too...
I had a bounty of 0, but the guards seemed to have mega wedgies and an inclination to take it all out on me. To this day the guards at Fort Moonmoth still attack him.

If you let each guard hit you once, you can legitimately nail them as you are defending yourself and the bonus is you can take their equipment and use or sell it. (Well, it worked for me, anyway.)

hmm good point, but my character isn't the killer type, and certainly not since he wants to join the imperial legion some day...so i'll just console it and be done.

Well you could kill them without killing them

open console, click on the guard

Sethealth "0" will break some scripts if you have certain mods installed, and it will still set the NPC as dead, meaning that it has the potential to break quests.

What you should do to stop them from attacking you is to issue two commands to each NPC that's attacking...

Setfight "0"

Did you successfully taunt the council members before attacking them? Rememering back, I think I had to do that, otherwise my attack was considered unlawful.

or in the case of my good fortune i just went back to a previous save, off each cammona tong member one by one and pay the bounty...no harm no foul and the Wolf Queen to show for it

I just killed them all and payed the fine, didn't know that the legion dude could clear the bounty afterwards.......

I guess it's better that you didn't.....he doesn't do much in the way of keeping other people from killing you that are standing right outside the fort.

Maybe Bethseda will fix that little problem with the next patch....Like that does me any good.
