Does anyone know any good treasure hunts I can go on coz I always seem to find second rate stuff in dungeons
Vaa
Level up more and you will find better things in the dungeons.
Theta Orionis
What do you call second-rate stuff?

Well, you could try a cave/tomb near Gnisis, across the river from the guy who lost his pants....nice stuff in there.

A tomb on the road from Balmora to Suran, near Sterdecan's (sp? can't remember the guy's name exactly) farm also has some good loot....

Dwemer ruins are good places to loot too

And if you feel really brave you could check out the odd Daedric ruin....

... Or even the "vaults" in Vivec's canalworks. Of course they are not completely without hazard, but no risk, no reward.
DragoonFurey
Dunmer strongholds like Indoranyon have some good loot in them too.

There are a number of caves and tombs on islands between Ald Sotha and Molag Mar that are loaded.
The following have daedric defenders:
a tomb just north-east of Caldera
a daedric ruin just south of Molag mar

My personal favorite is looting the House vaults in Vivec. They have some really high quality goods in there, but the doors are locked and trapped at 90+ I think. You need serious skills to get in there, but it's worth every penny spent. Gold, jewels, crazy cool weapons and armor...ah...like taking candy from a baby. A really fat, stupid baby. ph34r.gif

there is a Daedric Ruin next to the Urkalashi (sp) camp in the ashlands near the west coast. to the south west of those ruins (not too far) is a cave with some people in it. Kill the people and search the cave for the underwater tunnel and swim along to find yourself among some daedric ruins. Kille whatever is there and open up the tomb to find probably the highest concentration of Daedric stuff in a single area in the game. Claymore, Battle Axe, Staff, and I think a Katana and maybe some other stuff. It's nuts, but you have to be really ready to take on some rather protective gaurdians.

I think Im gonna move this badboy to the spoilers section...

Vaults??
What vaults?! mellow.gif

The Vaults are the treasures of the Dunmer houses, u get 2 them from the respective cantons.

Thanx everyone BTW, what I meant by second rate stuff was I never seem to fid all the amazing items others seem too.
DragoonFurey
If your talking artifacts most of them involve quests,

If you can manage to get the stuff in the chests near divath fyr you can get probably the best light cuirass and one hell of a kickass longsword.

Other nifty items can be aquired by doing the deadric quests, if you come across a statue and its got a name when your crosshair is over it try activating it.

Theres also alot of neat artifacts to be found in the caves and ruins surounding dagon fel.

for some reason i've never had a character who was huge into artifact hunting....dunno why though cause there are a lot of really fantastic artifacts in the game. best i got was trueflame and hopesfire, but that was because of tribunal.

maybe it's time i made an artifact hunter eh?

Don't forget the chest next to Bagarn...

But a baby with many Ordinators guarding it with serious wedgies and a notion to take it all out on you...

The Telvanni vaults are ripe for the plucking, though.

If you are over lev 20 fighter you can go after some good stuff those meanies are wearing. For example - there is a shrine of Ashalmavia east of Ald Velothi. In the left wall of main hall is a cave leading to a place called The Sunken Vaults or something like that. In there you will need levitation not water breathing as it may seem. Find a guy in the maze of broken beams and kill him. You will get ebony cuirass, boots and pouldrons plus good daedric weapon. This caracter is carrying 200+ lbs of stuff and every item is worth a five digit sum in septims.
Another place - Omaren AT east of Sadrith Mora. Fight through the tomb and pass through underwater tunnel to daedric ruins. This place is some kind of ancient forge. Do lots of levitation until you have looted chest hanging above lava pit in the middle of forge and searched all balconies around the cavern. Lots of unique stuff in there and skill books.
Another money making tip: collect soul gems and fill them up for selling. Best weapon for this is Umbra sword with soultrap spell. Up to now the best place filled with grand soul gems I have found is smuggler's cave called Zanabi just over the mountains west of Balmora. Found 8 grands and lots of smaller ones in there.
Question for guru's: how many places do you know in Vvardenfel where you can get raw diamonds - the same way like raw ebony or glass?

yeah its dimond mines, its all in there
Jetty
You are right Switch - the topic is in General section but it's locked - there are more politics & history than diamonds. Maybe I should start it as a new one?
Switch
politics? what? have i missed something huh.gif oh right stalin jr. well still look in there, shakkara mentions the location of the mine in one of the posts
Jetty
Yeah, I have found this place, too. And another one - smuggler's cave N-NE of Pelagiad (Punammu or Panat, don't remember which one of them. You have to swim through underwater tunnel to get to cavern with two veins of diamonds). Still the question exists - has anybody found a separete cave of diamond mine just like there are several raw ebony and glass mines?
Will do research myself (I'm playing the game for the first time) - maybe I can find answer by myself.

I think Scrolls of Windform is really intresting, not for the invisibility, but for the 500pts levitate. smile.gif Wroooom
DreamOfTheRood
The Scroll of Windform is one of my favorite items that I use only if I'm traveling REALLY far and am in no way close to one of the cities. For instance, I was on a Fighter's Guild quest to get to some Dwemer ruins near Azura's Shrine and I had to get back to Sadrith Mora. I just loaded up my Windform and was gone, BOOM!
Now, if only I could get a Constant Effect Lev 50 and Invisibility, I'd be awesome.

If you really like levitating for long distances there is this little shrine behind Vivec's Temple. All you need is a commercial potion of levitation to make a donation. Shrine will give you only 100 points levitation but it lasts IMHO 24 game hours. I started in Vivec, went to Azura to collect the Star, picked some shipwrecks on my way, returned to Mt. Kand to pick up staff for Imperial Temple quest and finished voyage at Telasero. It's also a useful tool to get to Mudcrab from Vivec and to clear map.

Actually, the best place for diamonds is Dwemer ruins. For some reason, many of the casks contain gems. As far as I can tell, there is no difference between those and 'raw gems' found underground.
Oblivionknight321
IN the mine where you are saying to look in, the one with either a Golden saint or a Dremora Lord depending on level is guarding there is something there most people miss but without spoiling anything when your in there look and you will see a good shield....

Also regarding the Vaults in Vivec, In the Redoran section, look at the uppermost section in the house with the walls around it and go to the upstairs, into a room with a female Dunmer inside, look in the chests (cupboards) and you will see a key... Grab it and run out of there, into the vaults and at the bottom on (far back) you will find out that that key opens that lock.

I have to say, the Sheogorath-quest kicks some serious ass.
With my Short Blade skill at 5 it was so easy to kill that Giant Bull Netch, or wait, I didn't use the fork to kill it, anyway, I love the spear you get, it looks really cool.
Totally worth it.
