The idea of Weather is whether or not it is appropriate for the scene.
A gentle rain storm instead of one always filled with lightning, thunder, wind, and torrential rain driving a player indoors. For instance: What if the plants in Cyridill required a splash of water twice a week or they would shrivel up and die just like real plants.

Wow, I thought we did have seasons added .... ever since Arena. What is all this certain day fo the month stuff then? Well, I suppose it is just a calendar, eh? But you are talking about real weather changes for the period of time during a particular season - I could go for it. But it would include alot of effort for the devs to change the scenery from Spring foliage on all the trees to verdant Summer to falling leaves of Autumn to snow in the Winter .... could they do it? I don't know.

As I recall changing seasons and festivals to go with them is one of the planned official mods. So it may yet happen. ^^

Yes, personally I do feel that seasons make a game better, but considering the way that I get through characters, I'm confident that no single one of them would live through to see them all...

I love Pagafyr and I think it's an excellent idea to stay within the naming frame of the game. I used to have a website for picking new names that was based on Morrowind races and would randomly generate the name of any race you chose ... Argonian, Breton, etc.
I have since reformatted and lost the link, can anyone hook me up with that excellent site again? Otherwise, I use baby naming sites! hahahaha
My hubby is very good at naturally naming characters - don't know how he does it, but then again, he understands to listen to, but doesn't speak Italian. Weird guy, huh?
=========================
I think it might be a much easier way for the devs to add climate to go by latitude n longitude than to try to add seasons to the whole continent...not a bad way to get all the seasonal weather ingame.

There is a season mod for Morrowind, in which the weather is not only accurate, but the trees change colors and lose leaves, then grow them back. I'll double check in my collection for it, perhaps you could use the scripting as a reference if the variables apply to the Oblivion engine as well. I'm looking it up now, I'll edit this with the info when I find it. Ok. There is a Mod by TheLys, called "Seasons 1.02" final. This mod does as I stated and ads swaying trees as well, and variable wind depending on season. His mod is a reworking of "Foliage Season 1.2" which was authored by Ayse, which originally only handled the changing of the leaves on the trees. Hope that's some kind of help. TheLys says most of his work was done through Global scripting, which will incur a bigger system hit than local scripts. Will be great to see stuff like this for Oblivion so quickly after release.

Somewhere before Oblivion came out someone said in an interview the holiday mod was cancelled, because it wasn't possible or something like that. Too bad. At the other hand, now modders can try to make it so we can still get something like it, but for $0.00! Who knows... Whatever you do, don't underestimate da modding community!

You want summer? Head to the Gold Coast.
Love winter? Vacation in the Jeralls.
Enjoy spring? Between the West Weald and the Nibenay Basin should serve you well.
Need an autumn stroll? Travel the Orange Road.
I have experienced the strange effect of a snowstorm in the green lands north of the Imperial City. I was descending from Bruma and I guess the weather/climate location tags didn't update fast enough, because instead of rain, I was getting snow— then the fog closed in and made for some veritable whiteout conditions. All within sight of Lake Rumare.

What kind seasons would you have in morrowind? Different varieties of ash storms?
On the note of oblivion seasons, that could work given cyrodiil's immense variety of different types of environments, although to make it worthwhile they would actually have to have an impact on gameplay, not just a pretty asthetic touch.

I dont think it would be a great idea. I live in Canada and we get a ton of snow in the winter and its nice to sit down and play oblivion in an eternal summer for those dreary snowy days. (and yes I do stay away from Bruma as much as I possibly can)

As for the weather in Cyradill; it's horrible to have to sit in doors on a day when I could be outside. And with all the great hot days and boring nights of the master of the lounge chair I find myself wishing it would snow this winter in Montana so I could enjoy the game as much as The Vulture does in Canada.
I found Ma zorca the Knight Errant dead at the Black Bows first hide out, Telepe, north of The White Knights lodge.
I had an Emotion. I hate losing friends, even cartoon friends. It should rain for a week in Oblivion, because of the loss I feel. She was wearing heavy armor and the guy and other were wearing leathers.
In response to Stampede: I thought spamming was sending ideas of assorted offerings for sale. I thought replying to others who have questioned the probabilities presented here was replying. Excuse my ignorance as I go I get more or less comprehension of the matters you call the rules.
How is it your are able to provide such a wonderful array of pictures? That snarling image below has a strange hand print. Is that supposed to be the creatures hand or a hand the creature ripped off of one of its prey?

Well, it's not really your place to decide when a discussion is finished.

People may yet want to continue discussing this, so I'll leave it alone for now.
