Bruma - Wildeye Stables - Petrine will see you a paint horse for 500gold
Cheydinhal - Black Waterside Stables - Tovas Selvani will sell you a black horse for 5000gold
Chorral - North Country Stables - Bongond will sell you a chestnut horse for 2500gold
Imperial City - Chestnut Handy Stables - some horses are being boarded here but none are for sale. talk to stable-hands Restita Statlilia and Breilus Gawey to get to the bottom of it. (Gra-Bura has been EATING them!)
Layawiin - Five Riders Stable - Cat-Face will sell you a paint horse for 500gold
Skingrad - Grateful Pass Stables - Ugak-gra-Mogahk doesnt eat her horses, or at least doesnt say so, and can sell you a bay horse for 1000gold
Stealing corroled horses is okay if your not caught, but while horses that you own will stay put when you dismount, stolen horses will wander off back home. Also if you do need to dismount a stolen horse, dont remount it if someone can see, because they'll alert someone to you.

Does anyone have the stats for the Shadowmere and the Unicorn? I Believe the shadow mare has the highest combat rating out of all of them, but thats from observation and not fact.

I usually just make a Target or Touch Restore health spell. Although, I do believe that the horse will heal itself slowly, and according to my wife, the Shadowmare can not die, only be knocked unconscious.

Yeah just use a potion on ur horse, or i think if you stable it outside of a city ie.when fast tracking, it heals etc there
I havnt found out the stats for shadowmere or the unicorn yet , im not sure if its even told, but if i do ill post it

Check in the construction set for the stats of Shadowmere. I have hit Shadowmere a few times on accident, and his health barely went down, even though I normally take people and creature's health down rather quick. Either invincible (as before mentioned) or very very high health. I also believe that it's health does regenerate because once you hit it, it's health bar comes up, meaning its hurt. Later it's health bar doesnt show up after time has passed.

OK, got some basic horse questions here:
How do you view your horse's health?
How do you get a horse to drink a health potion (or any potion for that matter)?
When you arrive at a town's stable, how do you board your horse at the stable? Do you just ride the horse into the stable and dismount? And if so, will it slowly heal health like a previous reply said it slowly heals when it automatically goes to the stable when you fast travel-is this true for manually putting a horse in the stable?

You can view your horse's health by dismounting and standing close to it, making sure your crosshair is on it.

You can't get it to drink potions. You have to use touch/target spells as was stated earlier in the thread.

That's always what I've done, just put it inside the pen where all the other horses are. When you Fast Travel to the inside of a town the horse gets automatically stabled. The horse heals automatically all the time, just like the player. If it takes heavy damage just wait for an hour anywhere and it should have full health again, I think.

Yeah what i do is just wait for an hour ('T' key) and then mine and my horses health are full again, its easier than manually waiting in real time or stabling. I think fast tracking to a city and getting your horse stabled works the same way as waiting using the 'T' key anyway so theres actually no need to fast travel to a city if its out of your way. And of course, if your able to wait for an hour you'll save on a potion!

I've heard some grumblings that you can't own more than one horse at a time, that when you buy a new one it replaces the old one.
What I've found is that the new horse does show up at the stable, but any and all of your previous horses will eventually make their way back to the stables you originally acquired them from. For instance, you buy a chestnut horse while already owning a black, the black horse will find itself back at the Cheydinhal stables, ready and waiting for you to show up and ride it again.

yeah. Thats what happened to me, when I got shadowmere, my Cheydinhal Black Horse returned to its stable. After trying a test swim with my shadowmere, it died a horrible death (kill command) Shadowmere literally sunk to the bottom of the ocean. I had to swim across the whole sea alone.
Silly and late question, but since the thread is pinned I'm not bumping it.
SO:
Bought a horse in Cheydinhall, my white horse walked off slowly. I assume he's heading home to Anvil.
Will he survive the trip?
If I leave my new horse somewhere, walk to Anvil, get on my white horse, will the black one immeadiately take off from where he is, go back to Cheydinhall?
Shoot-- forgot to ask:
What about the realitive speed? What speed do I have to have to outrun the black horse?

I know this is probably OT, but is there any way to give your horse a unique name ?

Nice way to break the rules.
To answer your question, no.

You can use setactorfullname "New Name". This changes the name of every npc/creature with that same base ID, but I checked the construction set and it looks like player owned horses have their own unique base ID. So giving your paint horse a name won't change the name of all the others.

Also you can get a mod that has the fastest horse on Earth : The unicorn mod. It a has black no armor unicorn that goes twice the speed of A regular black Horse! IT ROCKS!

Deleting your horses AI stops them from wandering home. They will stay exactly where you park them unless they get into a fight, usually after the fight they'll return to where you parked them.
Adding the abImpWaterWalk is very useful and fun.
The Unicorn seems to get angry at you pretty easy when you hit him even if you give him all the faction Shadowmere has. How do I cure him from doing that apart from using command creature spell?

when shadowmere gets unconscious and then you fast travel you can "lose"shadowmere(happened to me once), you need to go to weynon priory to get it back normally(it was like this for me at least)

Weynon Priory? For the free paint horse, do you mean?
Shadowmere spawns (after he is given to you) at Fort Farragut, in my experience.
Also: Don't give Shadowmere the Horse Armour (From Knights) if you intend to ever fully 'clean' (create a save with ALL mods stripped) your game - I did it and it removed Shadowmere from the game completely! Now when I restart, I just think of the DLCs (and SI and Knights) as part of the actual game...
...Oh, I see now. "Official Content" - as in "Hello. I am an expansion!"
How embarrasing for me!
