The most common cause is having cookies disabled in your browser, if the site can't set a tracking cooking you don't appear as being logged and will be redirected back to the login page.
Buddah
Give this a try, close IE, right click on the IE icon on your desktop, select properties. click on the general tab and select delete under browser history,
delete your cookies and temporary internet files.
then click on the security tab, normal settings in the medium range are usually adequate make sure you hit apply and then ok. The same applies to your privacy settings.
Restart your computer, depending on some configuration settings changes will not always be applied until after a restart.
Let me know if that helps.

Hey guys,
I already wrote an email to Robin about this, but maybe this will work a little faster.
I'm using a newly created account at the moment, because I get nowhere with my other one.
Here is what I wrote to Robin:
QUOTE
I (alias: DarkSmurf) have apparently been banned from using tesnexus.com and its forum.
On the one hand I am not listed in the forum's members list anymore but can log in without having access to the boards, on the other hand I cannot log into the main page at all. I am told that I am banned from using tesnexus.com.
Especially since I have not been notified of the ban and cannot think of any reason why I could have been banned, I'd really like an explanation.
Thanks guys,
WingCommander aka DarkSmurf
P.S.: I will request the immediate deletion of this now used account as soon as my other account is reinstated or ... I get banned again.

WingCommander / DarkSmurf, we have an open case since Oct 6th on this (Dark0ne did get the message) and we were allowing time for all the moderators to view the case.
This does seem like an anomaly. We cannot find any threads where you were mentioned as being banned and we do not see any of your postings (as if you never posted or they were all deleted)
We will most likely un-ban the DarkSmurf account since we have yet to get any responses saying there was a reason.
Well, I guess 3 days is long enough for all moderators to see the case so I will un-ban your account right now.
EDIT: Done
- DarkSmurf Un-banned.
- WingCommander Banned (until Dark0ne deletes the account).

Hey guys, I'm having the same problem as alot of other people here. I can log onto the forums normally with no problem, but as soon as I try to log onto Tes Nexus it won't keep me logged in, or it just takes me back to the log in page (if I try to log on while downloading.)
The weird thing was that it was working like 5-10 minutes ago, I downloaded a couple things and it logged me out randomly. I have cookies enabled and all that stuff, my firewall/virus protection is not interfereing either. I even added TN to my trusted sites, and I still can't log on. =/
Hope you can fix this for me, I simply cannot play Oblivion without the great mods on this website! C:

Jaeds, getting logged out of TESNexus happens from time to time due to reboots and changes Dark0ne makes. I'm not on the site 24 hrs a day but I hit it at various times throughout the day and usually do not get logged out more than one time per day but expect to need a re-login about once every 3 days.
I recommend you visit the home page and THEN try to login. Whatever page you are currently viewing when you try to login will be the same page you see after login because the login process remembers what page you were on and re-directly you back there after a successful login. Translated, this means if you are looking at an error page when you click Login, you will be looking at the same error page after you get logged in (unless you follow my advice and click a page you can access while not logged in such as the home page).
If this is not your problem and you are actually not being allowed back on the site, then it has to be a cookie issue (if there isn't a problem with your account / password....but it seems you can login from time-to-time).
Make sure your browser does not do a "clean private data" periodically that purges cookies every once in a while (such as upon exit).
If you cannot figure it out, download a new browser and see if the problem persists which will let you know if it is a problem in your browser or outside your browser such as a 3rd-party program, software/hardware firewall.
Here are some browser alternatives to Microsoft Internet Explorer you can try:
-
Mozilla Firefox 3.0.3 (I recommend this a primary browser)
-
Opera 9.60
-
Apple Safari 3.1
-
Browzar 1.5.0
FYI - Netscape Navigator is no longer a contender now that AOL has ended development.
DarkSmurf, good to see you up and running again. Sorry about your situation and confusion.

The only problem I've had with logging in, is the Database.
Other than that, I've got no problem with it at all.
I tend to switch between:
Firefox and IE7. If one isn't working, then I use the other, and its fine

Just something other people might want to try aswell? Hm

Its part of a Database Crash or with it restarting if I remember correctly. I've not had a problem with it in the last couple of days though. It'd normally shut me out for about 15-20minutes or so when it appears. ugh.
I'll screenshot it for ya if it appears again.

I don't think that will be necessary.
If the database is down for maintenance or a reboot, it affects EVERYONE. This thread is mainly to resolve individual problems when others can login. Maintenance and reboots are just to be expected from time-to-time.

Had some weird issues. First I tried downloading the GNR radio mod, ok it tells me I need to be logged in, and tells me to make an account, ok I think, I go make an account. User name or email already used. Hey I got an account already, ok, so try I log on to my account... nope. Ok, password recovery then... ok, that logs me on to the forum ok. I try again to log on to mainsite, no go... then I try to download the mod again, and it lets me. Weird.
Probably got this account for downloading oblivion mods a couple of years back(join date seems to confirm that). Weird that it wouldn't just let me in on main site though.

Actually, I do not have a problem with logging in. However, I do see a problem directly related to this issue. After I'm logged in and I click on the
Members link, I get an error page:

There appears to be an error with the database.
You can try to refresh the page by clicking here
No matter how many times I try or refresh the page, it's always the same.
And it has been this way for a least a day and a half.

Just wanted to mention that the login procedure of this site (not the forums) is giving me a headache since there was a security update about a year (?) ago. Each week or so I get logged out and then it takes ages to log in again. It's completely weird - at the same time the site asks me to log in I can see the logout button and members section at the top right corner. I can even access it without a problem (refreshing the members site doesn't cause problems either). But sometimes when I want to add a file or image it says I need to login - but I am logged in. Once I log in again it only repeats the procedure - please log in. When I wait for a few random hours I finally stay logged in for a few days. Even more strange is the fact that I sometimes can upload a file, but not an image. Othertimes it's vice versa. I have cookies enabled, but I use the 'exotic' browser called Opera. This is the only site where I have problems with the login. I would be glad if someone could fix this issue as it's really annoying when you want to upload something and constantly get redirected to the login page after already logging in.
EDIT: Right now for example I can do anything I want at TesNexus and I can look at my members section and upload an image at FalloutNexus. But the one thing I would like to do I can't do - upload a file at FalloutNexus. Why? I would understand if I was logged out completely and couldn't log in at all, but this is beyond my understanding.

Phitt, I tried out Opera and found similar problems but I have determined that it is how Opera "caches" the web pages.
I logged in successfully but when I browse around, I still see the "LOGIN" link at the top-right corner. I had to refresh the page for it to go away. There were other strange problems as well which I think are related to how it caches the site. I gave up trying to make it work and stick with Firefox, IE or Safari (on the iPhone)

I'm not sure what is going on, however I can't log onto the FO3 dl area. I can log into the forums and tes areas fine. When I try to log onto the FO3 area I am hit with an invalid PW. The only guess I have is the procedure to get a new pw isn't updating the FO3 site.

All people who joined yesterday between the hours of 6PM and 8PM GMT need to request their accounts get deleted so they can create a new one (or just create a new account with a different email address). There were problems with the servers last night that caused member data to be lost between these hours. Sorry.
