Woo hoo, lets turn his mind to paste, and use it to glue a notice to the door warning the next caretaker to be nicer to outsiders

Actually, lets meet at the Museum in the morning, I'll be invisible and when he answers the door, I can cast a spell on him affecting his mind so he leaves the door unlocked, then sneak in and stun him for the duration of our search, and wipe his mind after so he doesn't even know anything has happened. Then we can head to the docks and board a ship out of here if Malchik doesn't give us a hint we need to look elsewhere.

I didn't know whether to double post or not, but did anyway

I should apologize, as there may be some confusion due to my last couple of posts. I have moved the story ahead to the next day already, but don’t feel obligated to not play out the evening which starts with Malchik’s post #196.
The current situation: T’skar has gone on ahead, suggesting everyone come to the Honeycomb museum at 9:00 in the morning, an hour after official opening time. She is currently trying to do some mind control on Fardeep the caretaker, and will try to get him under some sort of control either stunned or doing her bidding, so that when the rest show up in a little over 30 minutes she can welcome them into the museum. Hope noone’s too miffed

See you all at 9:00 am hopefully

I've got some sneaking to do

He told me his wife is already on the warpath, and he has only had the game since last Friday

But I think most of us are interested in continuing.
As for our other problems - ie the Merchant's sword, I'm not sure, but there may be more info once we get to Golconar and find Zarim. He may have a plan already, or may know something new since he wrote this book, anyway, he is the author, and the aknowledged expert on these swords, so our first mission should be to find him.
I do wonder what has become of this sword, though. Sure it may have been gone from the Museum for years, but where is it now? And could it now have a broken tip? (I know it won't be that easy, but we can try, right?)

(I actually wrote this a couple hours ago. Sorry for reparting some of what T?Skar has already said

)
Well folks, we'll either need some moistened bint to lob that scimatar at us, or copious quantities of water breathing and swift swim.
We should take Vol. 2 and show it to Bambolia. Or not. He is obviously a wealth of knowledge on the swords, but we don't know if he has any alterior motives for wanting to locate them all. We'll have to see how we get on with him when we finally find him.
So now it's off to Golconar. I suggest we take the 8pm boat and on the way pick the Cap'n's brains about seafaring lore to see what he knows about the shipwreck.
P.S. Regarding Mr. Anderson's comment about travelling to find a Shallaran, this - I presume - is impossible, as the Bashkherians don't even know of Shallara's existence. Maybe a bit of "Beam me up, Dohoti?"

We are in the same world, at the same time. The biggest problem will be meeting them, as we don't know them or their quest. They may be heading this way, as the Jade Temple is part of their quest and then something in Goncolar, but they may go somewhere else first - so I don't know if we should wait and see, or what.

Dragon? Could be, but would that be alien magic? Might be the introduction of Dragons into this world. No use sweating it yet though, and I think our 'company' might answer a few questions. Wouldn't a dragon be able to retreave a sword from under water though? It should have the magic

The 2 people following us are of "low intelligence". I think T'Skar should do a Jedi mind-trick on them and find out what the hell they want. And if that fails, a Vulcan death-hold

.
Secondly, we need to come to some kind of decision on how we are going to distinguish between the swords, and thirdly we need some ideas on Zarim Bembolia's name. It's not real, so is oviously an anagram of something. If it's not an anamgram of any common words, it must be of another town or place, in or near Golconar. We need to ask around for places of interest, surrounding towns etc, or get complete maps, streetplans etc.

Just not right away

Back to on topic off topic (confused yet?) it really looks like Malchik wants us to look for the zombie in the caves, but I don't think we should ask our tails anything. It would be better to try and dump them, in the water on the way across the bay if possible, and then look at the caves unobserved if possible.

We need to find a shipmaster probably in Golconar. What I don't understand is how the boy could be NW of Dohoti if that is inland? Somewhere fairly near the coast between Dohoti and Golconar?
The ship must have gone down an in hour's radius from a point 12 hours from Golconar, at a point which would be a 5-day drift from where the boy was found. He was found a day from the port - which port? and a day by whose reckoning? the boy's or the ship's?

Restis entered the bar after just being thrown in a pile of horse hey by some bullys from his university. He had hey coming out of his silk shirt, his pants, and his vest pockets. He was handed a 12 oz glass of fine brew and he walked over to a table, sitting across from a beautiful girl much like himself. Restis looked up and saw the girl and suddenly dropped his glass on the table. it shattered. two ounces of his brew were gone.

Right, listen up folks, and lis'nup good. I am not voting myself in as team leader, but I will accept if the vote is against me!

We do need to make decisions in an organised way, lest we stray like sheep without a pastor. My suggested plan of action is to get out of Kolokon to Ippikander by the fast transport Malchik mentioned - if we can find it. If not, we go on foot. In Ippikander we find out about Akitaron, and go there by camel train. Then to Tipurim if neceassary, though I would like to go to Zooz down-river if possible. If not, then by sea from Mihintle to Tangrik and thence north to Zooz.
Please post comments and/or suggestions here, as a unanimous, or at least democratic decision is always preferable.
Now, let's make like Bo-Peep and get the FLoCK out of here!

Not sure if we are still using this or not, but will give it a try.
A little nighttime foray across the rooftops might be in order, although it might be best just to sit out one night and see if anything happens. Magic not working is a pain, but maybe we should see if it's true - try and conceal something maybe, and try again in the evening if it doesn't work. I would like to see in the palace, I wonder if our host knows something? We also have a hint that we may have missed something in the lower city, so it may be worth talking with our host and checking that out first, then trying the palace at a later time, although I think our pass was a one time thing?
karkarinus
Aug 27 2006, 11:45 PM
I agree on all counts. First, trying to conceal something (I had thought of but forgot to mention it

) although I hadn't thought of trying again at night. Secondly, those rooftops could come in handy for gazelle-footed T'Skar and Kalmer! We should ask our host (what
is his name, anyway?) if we can get back into the High City once we leave. Maybe they put an ultraviolet stamp on our hand to show on the way back in??? Worse case scenario, we check the Lower City on the way out, although I get the feeling we might have to make a sharp exit....
phawk69
Aug 28 2006, 08:01 PM
It will take time to learn a water breathing spell, so I hope our exit doesn't have to be too sharp, unless there are potions of course.
By the way, we didn't get a name for our host, I just checked.
I was just thinking, maybe we shouldn't try magic in our host's house, as they may have a way of detecting it, and it could bring about some unwanted attention. Tiax has determined that he can detect others using magic, so Malchik may use that - one of the problems with wanting to see and know everything: it works both ways

I wonder if we shouldn't charge these things to Bashkher in Papred? We could send a note along telling him how we are doing, and really say nothing at all, just let him know we have a couple of the swords and are looking for the others

We could mention that we are having some problems with the president's wife, Armider Sagrami, and wonder if he can do anything about it.

You are in the country of Bashkher. The guy's name is Bharat. And atm you don't know for a fact that it is Arminder Sagrami. As she is the president's wife you'll need a tactful approach.

Perfect

Thanks. I'll type out a sample letter here, and we can change it as need be
Dear Governor Bharat,
As we are near a Papred consulate, we thought we would update you on our progress. We have two of what we are looking for in our possession; the one you gave us, and one we picked up along the way. We have talked with Zarim Bembolia, and he has offered his help in getting another that has been misplaced, but that we can get to with help.
We have attracted some high level attention, and had an unexpected welcoming party at one stop, which we avoided.
We will let you know more as events warrant.
Yours truly.Any new members are very welcome

*Edit*
Maybe we shouldn't use Zarim's name in that way, as most people know he is looking for the swords of Zooz - maybe it should be Mirabar Zombie instead?
karkarinus
Sep 2 2006, 06:56 PM
I think that sounds OK, but it could take weeks to get a response from him, if that's what you want. And yes, we should use "Malibar Zombie" rather than Zarim's real name. I don't know how we're going to pay for these clothes, though. Charging them to "Chewie's" account could lose us the only friend we've got here, and I doubt we have the cash on us, so maybe T'Skar could do something? We could cause a distraction or something...... or perhaps just ask Tiu Bakker?
phawk69
Sep 2 2006, 09:00 PM
My thought was to charge these things to Bharat under the guise of sending him a message. I had no intention of waiting for a reply, nor of telling him where he might contact us - just tell him some things he likely aready knows, and stick him for the bill

We might ask Tiu, but T'skar is NOT doing any special favors to get us the clothes.
karkarinus
Sep 2 2006, 09:18 PM
LOL, I meant
stealing them!

Not earning them! But do you really think it would be as easy as telling the shop girl to bill it to Bharat ? Or have I misunderstood what you mean? If it's possible, I'm up for it. He can't expect
us to foot the bill for all our expenses. We're working for
him, after all.
phawk69
Sep 3 2006, 12:28 AM
In a small shop, stealing may be a little.
Clerk 1: Doh de doh, wow, those were sure nice people.
Clerk 2: Yah, I like know what you mean
1: Well we should put away all the clothes they were looking at
2: You know, I can't seem to find any clothes, are you sure they were looking at some?
1: Wow, maybe the clothes put themselves away!
2: Gnarly.
Close scene

stealing one ring or something works, stealing a wardrobe for 3 or more doesn't

We could try charging it to the Papred Consulate, and ask them not to deliver it for a day or two, giving us time to scedadle

On the other hand, Tiu might not get his bills for a day or two, so we could just charge it to him, and see about leaving some gold if our consciences really bothers us
karkarinus
Sep 3 2006, 08:11 PM
OK I get your point. Nice skit for the Montreal Festival!

So I say we either just ask Chewie, or charge it straight to his account, and leave him some cash if necessary, but I don't know how people will react to asking them to delay the bill. Chance it? Or ask if we can hire the clothes? I dunno. I'll go with whatever T'Skar decides.

Sep 18 2006, 10:49 PM
okay - you need to replace a sword tip from a sword that must be be missing one. You are told that the sword is probably one created by the master of Zooz of which (as believed at the start) 5 exist. You next were led to believe that there were probably originally nine of which four were lost. Having seen the strange way the sword tips move together and talking with the 'expert' Mascor you now believe there are probably 8. The ninth will appear magically if the eight are together. This however is speculation.
You have two swords and know the exact whereabouts of three more (Dohoti, Ippikander and Memtuz museums). Mascor has told you about one lost at sea off Golconar. He is also sure one can be found at Zooz where the master lived, although he has no evidence to back this up. The eighth sword is said to have been last heard of at the ruined city of Akitaron in the Shorava desert. The person who knows most about the story of this sword is the Mage Nikishastra who lives in Ippikander - a place you need to visit anyway.
To get the sword lost at sea you need at least one more sword, a ship to charter and the ability to breathe under water. Mascor told you that he believes you can find a spell to breathe under water at Kolokon and that is why you are there.
The only slight difficulty is that the sword you stole from Dohoti seems to have drawn unwanted attention. Rumour suggests the attention may be coming from Arminda Sagrami, the wife of the president of Bashkher. She spends most of her time in Ippikander.
That I think sums it up in a nutshell.

Sep 24 2006, 12:08 PM
The main entrance is near 4, so we are right opposite it. We don't want to drop right into the foyer, so I say either this one (1) or the one to our immediate left (6) or right (5) which will both be in the other building if I'm imagining correctly. Though I'd still appreciate a quick sketch......
karkarinus
Sep 25 2006, 01:08 PM
Yeah, right, I'm thick. But now I've sussed it. We're at 1, so to our left is 2 and to our right is 6. 4 is right opposite, with 3 to its left and 5 to its right, right? Right. So in the absence of any better ideas, we go with the one we're at atm, as T'Skar says, which is number 1. At least someone's thinking straight!

Sep 27 2006, 03:59 AM
Straight might not be the right word, but thanks anyway. Now to the point: should we check one of the other trap doors to see if there is less noise, or should we just drop in here? We will run out of night if we don't make up our minds soon, I think. I'm waffling at the moment, but seem to come back to 'lets go in here' most often
