Well I guess the one with the least noise would be the best one.. we are not here to attract attention but to search the building unnoticed.
karkarinus
Yeah I think we should check one of the others (5 or 6.) That way, we see if there is less noise etc, and also if there is any notable difference between the 2 buildings.
karkarinus
Nice...! So let's go down T'Skar's trapdoor then! biggrin.gif
phawk69
Just another little take on things: a party is a great place to just blend in, and since we are in our evening finery, we may be able to pass unnoticed. But whatever Kalmer decides smile.gif

Hey, whoa there! This is a team effort now. No leaders, right? "Right!" Right, so shut up and do as I say! tongue.gif

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to gatecrash, as most of the guests probably know each other, or have an invite or something. There's something eerie down that trapdoor of yours, and eerie means adventure. However, I'll go with the majority. Gnath? Mandrake? Tiax? Any suggestions?
tiaxanderson
Well.. As was said a party might not go unnoticed so we could decide to split up and take different trapdoors.... But that would be disadvantageous if we got in 'serious' trouble (fight)
phawk69
Ok, lets try adventure then smile.gif
phawk69
Hey n00b, no double posting! Retard, what are you drunk?

Thanks, I needed that. Anyway, I was wondering if we shouldn't just tell everything to this person (wizard), and let her decide what to do. I mean all about the alien magic and the swords and our need of a water breathing spell. Might as well just be honest (I know, it's not normal for a thief is it?)

Hey, isn't that self-flaming? Or spontaneous human combustion? Anyway stop it. It's silly. ^tongue.gif^

Back OT, I think being straight with her would be the best idea, as she will probably know if we are lying anyway. Go on then T'Skar - might be better coming from you, y'know, girls' talk smile.gif

karkarinus
I have no idea about this quest, but the way I see it, Dark Portals is eleven letters long. We know that the Child of Water begins with P, and Fire with K. We also know that Ocaranda is the Child of Ice. Though none of this has any bearing on theMaster of Zooz quest, we are sure to encounter other kiddies along the way, such as Auriel the Child of Healing - who we are currently looking for - and Riff, whoever he is (probably the Child of Mind, 'cos he made some mage jump out of a window.)

So, in order:

D...

Auriel (Healing)

Riff (Mind)

Kyrikki (Fire)

P...(Water)

Ocaranda (Ice)

R

T

A

L

S

A and R appear twice, so there may be some problem with the order.

karkarinus
Amended, according to new info:

1. Love D
2. Healing Auriel
3. Light Rezi
4. Fire Kyrikki
5. Water P.....
6. Air Ocaranda (must be Air rather than Ice.... cripes!!!! EUREKA!!! See below!!!!)
7. Mind Riff
8. Time T....
9. Death A
10. Life L
11. Earth S

When we release Ocaranda by bringing Auriel to her, she'll give us a water-breathing spell. So she is Air!

The thot plickens.....

Look I found it by myself tongue.gif

Hey Group,

Thank you for so readily accepting me into the group, its great to actually be able to post again.

Malchik has told me that the side quest isn't as important as our two main quests, though he says we may be "compelled" at a later point to do it.

I felt like I was kind of being a control freak in the temple, so I thought I would ask before Aldhelm said anything about going to the newspaper archives. Malchik kind of hinted something was going to happen there to me.

Thanks for letting me fuse so easily with your group though Aldhelm still doesn't know your group member's names biggrin.gif

EDIT: lol I should have read the thread before I ever posted this, yea just ignore my stupidity..... tongue.gif

DragonDudeAW
Well I was in a group that was supposedly that large but shrank down from around six, to around three to two to then just me. So I asked Malchik if there was a thread I could keep my character and post, and he put me into your thread. So far, I'm very glad I asked biggrin.gif
karkarinus
Well, we're glad to have you with us - we were running rather low on manpower!

I don't mind at all if you have things to do in Kolokon - better get them over with rather than having to come back later. When we've finished here, we've got to get our stuff and horses, and then off to the beach at Ippikander! cool.gif

DragonDudeAW
I have nothing to do in Kolokon. I'm just trying to get the big picture as we travel. Unless you have any more questions for the archives director, I'm ready whenever we want to leave for the beach biggrin.gif Us Tagfierians need to see some sand smile.gif

just send a mail to goeblegoeble3@gmail.com

thanks
Malchik
I'll email my email and you can get me on MSN at times. Are you trying to enter via gamingsource or tessource?
phawk69
Sorry for being absent, life got busy.

Now, onto our quests.

1) The sword: We need to get our hands on it, but I think we had better wait until AFTER we go into the Skull Temple, as the city may be in a bit of an uproar. The easiest way, as I see it, is to conceal T'skar and one other (likely Kalmer) and enter when another visitor goes in (like Face), then wait for closing time, and work at night, leaving town asap after exiting the museum.

2) The Temple: We really need to get into the temple, and not just the top floor, so we need to either see Armiger Sagrami, or use Face's key. It would be easier to enter with permision, and we have talked about a plan to trick her with a vitality potion, if it works, so why not try that first? Anything where she comes to us, not the other way around.

My 2 cents.
tiaxanderson
Allright everybody, I have it all sorted out!..
Now I just need a major update, first new post is;
QUOTE(Malchik @ Nov 21 2006, 10:14 PM)

OOC> I was waiting to see if Aldhelm or Tiax wanted to add anything. But this is long enough.

On topic.

Face serves you each a portion of stewed lamb with a fiery dry rice curry and then escorts you across the town to the museum enclave. The hill is enclosed by a high marble wall with only one entrance, where you pay your rather steep entrance fee of 20 nipin per person.

Face waits outside, unless you elect to pay his fee too.

Within the wall the site comprises three white marble buildings set at some distance from each other and at different heights on the hill. Face has told you that the lowest building, to your left on entering, is the museum of arts and crafts, the middle building, to your right on entering, is fine art. The topmost building is devoted to the history of Bashkher and Ippikander in particular. He does not know where the sword would be but doubts if it is fine art as that is almost all paintings.

Asking at the entry to Arts and Crafts you learn that there are swords in all three buildings but the one by the Master of Zooz is considered part of Bashkheri history. You find it on the first floor (one above the ground floor). It is in a locked display case in a small windowless room that is clearly closed and locked at night. (As is the main building itself.) Four museum guards are standing around it looking bored out of their brains. The sword is not missing its tip.

The guards look as if they'd love to arrest you to add a bit of excitement to their day.

With the expensive entry fee (twice the average daily wage in Bashkher) the visitors are few.

P.S. Malchik I tried both.
karkarinus
I agree 100% with T'Skar. And I honestly thought I'd suggested the same about how we get into the museum. Or maybe I just thought it unsure.gif . Anyway, the best way to get to the top level is with Sagrami's say-so, but the birthday party thing would be too expensive, so perhaps the best way would be to offer to dispel the whisperings. Once inside, we could off-handedly mention to Sagrami that T'Skar is nigh-on 200 years old, and take it from there.

And by the way biggrin.gif HAPPY CRIMBO, EVERYONE !!! biggrin.gif
Malchik
Seasonal greets all round. I have given tiax a brief update and suggested he reads the two Nikishastra posts. He should be up to speed soon.
phawk69
Yes, Kalmer, dispelling the whispers would be a good way to get in as well, as long as Sagrami approaches us smile.gif
karkarinus
So according to what Niki says, the "Lady's Entourage" thing may just work. Shall we go shopping then? biggrin.gif
tiaxanderson
Yes yes, about that being up to speed.. Evventhough I'm here now I can't promise everything.. Your lucky if you'll ever see this post.. ahum. The thing isn't sorted out yet (much to my dismay, I thought it was solved but..).

I'll read the posts and I'll try to post. Root for me.
RedPlague
I was curious T'skar, instead of shopping would you not be able to get into some nobles mansion and liberate some appropriate attire instead of buying them? I'm sure the rest of the group could help by causing some sort of distraction or another if necessary. Though a safer way may be get into the mansion when the noble is out, perhaps at the beach.

Also, i hope your problems are solved soon Mr. Anderson.
phawk69
We can but try, right? It sounds like a good idea to liberate clothing, maybe from more than one source, and during the day sounds like a good idea to me.

I was just wondering if it wouldn't be good to give Αni one of the swords of Zooz, I think we have a couple, and he seems to know how to handle a sword ...
phawk69
Sorry for the double post, but it is a new topic.

About the back story - why not say we are from Kolokon, and T'skar was picked many years ago for the trivumate? No one knows anything about the rulers in that city, as our gracious host so readily told us. As to why we're here: any good ideas?
RedPlague
While i'm sure Αni would be honored to have one of the swords, his personal weapon is a bladed staff at one of the local guardhouses. Rather different from a sword, but any warrior worth his salt can use more than just one weapon effectively.

As for a reason to be there i'm not sure. You could say you're there to investigate a relative that was in the area and disappeared. But that might be too easy to disprove.. Maybe you heard it was a good vacation spot?
phawk69
I'm sure the missing relative wouldn't work, Armiger could check it too easily.

Vacationing is a good excuse for being here, and we can go with that, but we need a bit of a back story. The beauty of Kolokon is that it can't be checked, there's no communication out of the palace smile.gif Or at least didn't seem to be.

The merchant's daughter won't work if she's to be a couple hundred years old either, too easy to check families, and the Sagrami family is one of the oldest in the land, as Nikishasta told us.

It might work best if one of my 'servants' let it slip that I was 200, rather than a birthday bash, I think. Maybe one of the 'court wizards' when they are coming to apply more ointment, something like that, near AS's servents.
DragonDudeAW
That was too close for comfort!

That little encounter made me realize Ive got no kind of story behind this cream besides being developed and created by multiple court wizards. We need to think of either reasons to keep Sagrami from getting her hands on the cream at all, or delaying to the last possible second so we might escape before she realizes it is a trick.
phawk69
T'skar is a mind mage, and we may be able to make her believe the cream is working through the power of suggestion. Another option may be for the last bottle in our posession to accidentally slip and break, thus rendering in useless, and since we don't have any more, we would have to send her some when we got back to Kolokon. She likely has potion makers (can't think of the right term at the moment) on her staff that could tell her it is just a potion of vitality, so we really don't want her getting her hands on it. My court wizards may get called away inexplicalbly, even before our tea with the Ranee.
karkarinus
We could say that the potion requires fine-tuning for each individual person, and therefore T'Skar's won't work on anyone else.
Malchik
Now we have Tiax back (we hope permanently) it might be useful to take account of his post in the main thread.

You are correct that you need ONE story to be convincing but you can have innumerable potions and lotions.

What I need to know is what your plans are now. Do you wish to return to your lodging? Are you going to the Ranee' party and if so WHO is going? The invitation was to the Lady Taskara and you do not know how many others (if any) will be allowed in as yet. If you assume only one, decide whether you need a bodyguard (Ani), an advisor (Kalmer) or a potions expert (Aldhelm/Tiax). If the others have the afternoon off, have they plans of their own? (Shopping, resting, visiting the temple ground floor, stealing a sword, investigating the beach entrance to the temple, establishing an escape route, etc. etc.)

T'skar should choose who is to accompany her but will not know if it is permitted until she arrives. Whoever it is, if not allowed in, will be left waiting outside. The rest of you should decide how you can best pass the time. BTW there is no right or wrong answer.
tiaxanderson
(don't be fooled, I'm at a school computer now)
Well if I need to prepare a stronger potion I'll be away till the party else I really don't know.
I think it is up to our 'Mistress'
phawk69
To Malchik - I think we are headed back to our lodging.

To the rest - what do you think? I would go with Kalmer coming with T'skar, and if he needs to wait outside so be it, as for the rest: it would be alright for Tiax to work on his potion, and having it ready by night would be great. I would be inclined to have the rest of the group guard him, as I'm not so sure about how far our new friends might go to get their hands on an anti-aging potion. The other problem may be that we might not all be allowed to leave our current city - I had thought of that earlier, but didn't post because I didn't want to raise unfounded fears, but it may be that our wizards could find themselves in a spot of trouble with this potion. It might not hurt to have an excape plan - ship times of departure, other routes out of town, stuff like that.

The young woman was asking about something to protect from the sun's rays, not necessarily an anti-aging potion, so maybe you could work on that as well?
karkarinus
I agree with T'Skar on all counts. We can get travel info from Face, and I definitely think Tiax needs protection. Kalmer and T'Skar can look after themselves in a tight spot, but if things get really hairy, no amount of bodyguards could help them. So if everyone is in agreement we go with what T'Skar has said here. smile.gif

I also think that the best story woul dbe that the cream is different for each person, so even if they do get their hands on what we have, its lack of effect is justified. This also gives us time to 'prepare' Sagrami's cream rather than having to hand over a sample there and then.

RedPlague
The personalized cream story idea sounds good to me as well. I would have suggested that the cream is a Kolokon secret and divulging information about it, much less giving it to an outsider would be met with swift and immediate reprisals. But Aldhelm ruined that idea (no offense intended).

If Ani were actually T'skars bodyguard he would undoubtedly insist on accompanying her, but since he also supposedly her servant he couldn't do much if she was adamant the he didn't come along. Also he likely wouldn't be ecstatic if he was forced to wait outside the building for her.
So, i guess i agree that Ani should be where he is likely most needed. Just be sure to have a decent story in case Sagrami asks why you didn't bring along your bodyguard.
karkarinus

We can say that we quite simply didn't expect to need one. Our hostess' hospitality inspired confidence, and only being allowed one companion, the Prime Courtier was the obvious choice. Or something like that wink.gif

tiaxanderson
I have a somewhat complex idea about what to do against the possible thread that others get their hands on the potion and I can make a sunblock potion if that's what you suggested. I mean I can almost make one in real life (damm I like sience).

The idea is to use both time and illusion magic to conceil the potion for even the better mages and a spell simular to the 'mark' from the elder scrolls. Using that spell I know where the potion is and I can use timeshift to make it reapear in my hands. Just a little manipulation as to where the potion is supposed to come back, not much I've done it before.

Anyway I can work much better when I'm under someones command so just say the word(s).
phawk69
How about a little of everyones ideas:

The potion is specific to one person and is started when they are quite young. It takes 20 years to complete (thus the young start), and each one involved only knows their part. We could use Tiax's potion if Segrami wants to see one in action, on T'skar. Although it may be that the Ranee will be pumping T'skar for information, and if it seems impossible to get it, we may never actually get to see Segrami, and thus never get permission to enter the temple, which is why we are doing all of this. So likely deception is our friend - so ignore the above, and we will get Tiax to work on his potion, with a little help from T'skar's mind magic I think we could make Segrami believe that toilet water was making her younger smile.gif
RedPlague
Just thought i'd post this to give everyone involved in the rpg some insight into Ani since i haven't really any chances for him to tell his story...yet.

Name: Αni Stronghorse

Skills: Bladed staff (think a slightly shortened staff with an 8 inch blade at both ends) and throwing knives.

Description: Male, fairly average Jourtresian (sp?), except rather lean. Would be fairly handsome if it weren't for the scar going from his left ear to the side of his mouth. Has a thick goatee to try to hide his disfigured lip. Not so bad once you get to know him, but getting to know him is difficult as he is rather unfriendly and mistrusting of strangers. He's sarcastic and likes dirty jokes.

Brief history: An ex mercenary turned drifter. He became a drifter/hermit after his jaw was almost cut off in combat (that explains the scar). Needless to say you should see the guy that did it to him, or what's left. He has spent most of his time wandering the wilderness on his own, so he is an expert survivalist. But so much time away from other people has crippled his social skills a bit.
phawk69
Careful what you agree to with Ani, as we may never meet again if we get separated in our journies.
tiaxanderson
To awnser RedPlague's question..
I thought that you where back in the room, but it doesn't really matter.

If you wish you could still be standing outside the room, but then it would be impossible to enter the room during the casting and stuff.

Else you just finish your convos with the man and go back in the room and then the casting actually started.

Just a misunderstanding on my account, sorry.
Malchik
I have been away for a couple of days celebrating my birthday with the family - my sister's is the day before mine. I will get back to the thread tomorrow. I haven't forgotten you.
phawk69
We haven't moved too far forward yet anyway, so I don't think there is a rush.
tiaxanderson
I'd like to know if Ani was in or outside the room when we preformed the chanting. Though it's entirely up to him since it doesn't affect the chanting nor what he discussed with that man. It just gives some clearity.
RedPlague
Considering my most recent post in the Zooz thread i would certainly have to say he was outside the room.

Also, T'skar Ani has no intention of running off on that or any other job without the groups expressed permission. Also Ani doesn't trust the man that is trying to hire him. After all he gave him a dirty look, then offers him an exorbitant sum of money for such a seemingly simple escort mission. Certainly suspicious IMO.
tiaxanderson
If you look it at that way, well I just wanted to know if you where in or out the room at the time.
