Just wondering: is there any way to turn off the in-game mini map? I don't mean the one in your inventory and stats menu, I mean the one in the lower right corner when you play. I am asking this because I'd like to play the game in an even more realistic way, trying to use the sun or the stars to see my heading wink.gif
Switch
i dont think so... sorry
Maquissar
I looked in MORROWIND.INI as well, but there doesn't seem to be an option for that huh.gif sigh!

How about covering with something, just glue a piece of paper in the lower right corner. smile.gif
Maquissar
lol... GLUE something to my monitor? Why not use a MAGNET then? wink.gif LOL
Vaa
Its your call smile.gif
Hmm, why not open the monitor and put a piece of paper inside it. smile.gif
That could solve the "problem" with the map.

Yeah, there is no why i can think of to actually disable it...

Go into the game menu and click on the box in the top-right corner of the map screen. Resize and reposition the map screen so that it won't interfere with gameplay. Generally, it's best to just resize it diagonally as small as it will go, then move it to the right of the magic icon. Exit the menu and you should have a minimap-free world to play in.

Thanks, but I wasn't referring to the menu minimap... I was referring to the even more MINI map that is in the game while you play... the one in the lower right corner, telling you your heading... smile.gif

just think of that map as a compus when your running around the ashlands, id have gotten so lost without that little buger a few times.
Marxist ßastard
Maq, that will get rid of the minimap, replacing it with the full menu map (which you can just minimize away so that it is a tannish bar at the bottom of the screen, not showing any map at all).

Get your cat to sit in front of your monitor.

Of course, your cat will choose a crucial moment to leap onto your keyboard -> 'your last savegame is quicksave'

I'm almost sure I managed to lose my minimap once...but I can't remember how - only that I was frantically trying to retrieve it.

I once tried the console command "Toggle menu" or whatever it was called... every small box on the screen disappeared, which was ok by me, but then I found that my inventory and everything else had disappeared too, which was not ok... and so I typed "toggle menu" again, but the menus refused to come back on... I had to exit the game and reload... sigh wink.gif

Marxist is right... Maq, there's a second little butten that you press that will make you use the inventory screen map as your default one, instead of the the "Mini-map" However, if you first resize the menu map to where you can no longer see it, then you will have no map. tongue.gif

Know your game before you say someone is wrong. biggrin.gif

Actually, I tested it out today... Turns out that the menu map still has a pretty large minimum size. That is, one large enough to still show a map.

So then that method won't work. However, you could always just ignore the minimap.
Darmoth
...? Err. What patch you running Marxist? In my game it shrinks all the way until it shows nothing. As far as I know, I've been able to do this since the day I bought the game.

Version 1.6.1820 with both expansions installed.

That's what I'm running. Maybe something I did in the INI or a plugin?

Yes, I think its possible, but someone needs to script it for an item, I don't really know how to do that. if you do this in the console, after you do tm then the next time you use the console it automatically brings everything back.

the following things need to be used:

tm
enablemagicmenu
enablestatsmenu
enableinventorymenu

enablemapmenu should bring the map back, as will opening the console in game.
Darmoth
Well there you go... I'd help if I knew anything about scripting. biggrin.gif

Sadly I don't even know much about scripting in Neverwinter Nights, in which I'm currently writing and building a psychological horror module... I've been looking for a way to turn of the the mini map there as well.....

A little postit note would work. Then you could remove it when you use the computer for other things. wink.gif
Maquissar
Or maybe I could just... er... not look at the minimap biggrin.gif
