This is EA trying to compete with Quake Wars, but doing it in a very poor manner. This game looks like a bad mod of BF2 -they even use the same infantry model by the looks of it!
This is what they've been doing instead of fixing the bugs. Kill them all!

It does look like they have used the BF2 engine, which just will not stand against the snazzy and oh-so-pretty Quake Wars one. As for gameplay, it looks like it'll be similar to BF2, although given that film they might have tried to add some kind of tagged-on storyline to the proceedings. Poor, EA, very poor. And DICE - you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Hi BF fans,
Today we have some really big news to share with you. The more sniper-eyed of you out there will probably already know, but we're currently hard at work developing "Battlefield 2142", which is scheduled for release this Autumn. As you'll have guessed, this is a departure for the BF series as we're going into the future - something that a lot of you wanted to see happen in the BF universe. We're creating a ton of cool features that you won't have seen in any BF before, including cloaking devices, mines that follow you, awesome new rifles, guns and grenades, and of course, MECHS! We're developing this here in DICE Stockholm while the DICE Canada studio will be hard at work on a 1.3 update for Battlefield 2, as well as the Armoured Fury Booster Pack.
There'll be an "official" press release later on this week but we know that you guys need to know first. Stay tuned and we'll keep you posted on how 2142 is coming along.

This is def not what ive been wanting! 1942 was great, DC was better, EA makes BF2 coz DC is so good, as has been said, EA have seen quake wars (which i hope looks like the trailer) and thought great, thats come up with an original catchy name, lets add 200 years on to 1942.
When i squint my eyes parts of that trailer just looks like BF2

Well I think BF1942 was, as hybrid_snyper said, great and BF DC was better.. BF DC Realism was, dispite the same grafics, greatest. But even more mods?? (even though it's supposed to be a new game) Did any of you ever played BF2 on the net? That commander status ruind everything... Amost every server possesed some n00b that would sit somewhere safe while pushing the atillery button..

Well see what BF2142 will be.

I like the look of Quake Wars, but i fear with both these games I'll first have to get my boss to buy me a new laptop as mine currently struggles playing BF2.

Im okay, as long as its legal, I've got a licence and its not filth. However, I use a seperate HD just for BF2, as all the wirewall, AV software and other crap installed on my 'works' HD just slowed things down too much. Task managers shows about 50 processes running on bootup.
