This post is designed to see who might be interested in joining. If there are not enough it will not happen.

The setting

The world of Zorlon, a place with nine countries and three related non human dimensions (see below). Specifically in the country of Bashkher.

Quest

Every country in Zorlon is being attacked by an alien magic. In Bashkher this is having the effect of turning people to stone. It is currently contained in a small geographical area but is spreading. It is known how to stop it spreading - a broken sword tip must be matched to the sword it has been broken from. Rather awkwardly you have no idea where the sword might be. You have only one clue to go on. (I'll state that if the RPG ever gets off the ground.) To do this it will need a small band of adventurers working together. They will travel the length and breadth of the huge country and even have to find a place 'out of time'.

A request for help has been posted in all the taverns of the capital Papred.

Characters

You may choose your own characters from the info provided below but nothing uber (any realistic 'trade' is possible but a shipmaster might be of limited use in what is predominately a land based rpg). The equipment armour and weapons is similar to MW levels but without the names associated with that game (so no daedra, stalhrim, Indoril etc.) Best to check on this before getting carried away.

Countries and races

1. Dayone

Small temperate farmland community with (for the time) relatively advanced technology. Inhabitants human, blond, blue eyed and fairly tall have the innate quality that they cannot lie directly and no one can lie to them. No magic.

2. Niyobi

Huge and mostly cold. It is a land of mountains forests and moors. It's inhabitants have faces that conceal all emotions. It has inherent magic that has been ruthlessly supressed by the government but some shape changers still exist and that skill is available. (They can change into ANY smaller creature). Inhabitants, human, medium height, olive complexion, straight black hair.

3. Jourtres

Medium sized, hot and jungly. It is a lawless place where you must fight to live. Reputedly no magic although much of the place is unexplored. Inhabitants are all fierce fighters.

4. Tagfier

Huge and mainly a desert with five great cities. There are two groups. The Wanderers, desert nomads, brilliant horsemen they have one magical skill; they can cast conceal and reveal. The rest of the population are magic users. Wizards specialise in one of nine schools of magic (earth, air, fire, water, light, death, time, healing and the mind).

5. Levdia

Standard medium sized developed country like most in our world esp Europe here with a bit of everything. No specific racial type. No magic.

6. Angyngrax

Largely destroyed and not a place from which to get recruits.

7. Shallara

There is no land in Shallara. The inhabitants are part human and part water elemental. They are at home in water and can breathe underneath it. They are all golden yellow with green eyes and copper coloured hair. They have no magic but are very beautiful to look at and can use that as a weapon. Their fighting skills are limited to thrown weapons and tridents.

8. Urital

Impoverished infertile grassland supporting only one huge city. Inhabitants the colour of dark chocolate. They fight with machetes and other chopping weapons. They have no magic.

9. Bashkher

Huge and diverse but warm to hot (think India) no specific racial type. They are not a fighting nation but are capable of learning. No magic except for one group, witches, who have spells associated with animal affinity and herbal remedies etc. This is the setting for the rpg.

Non human dimensions relevant for interest only atm

10. Taragoka

A place that studies all possible futures and sends out dreams and visions

11. Zoriishii

The land of those who carry dreams to the minds of humans

12 T'mor'dend

The land of the dead.

Game play

Standard RPG style with at least one post every 48 hours as the minimum. DM to establish results of actions. Forum RP rules. Dice rolls for damage only (most of the rp is scripted)

If interested please post below or PM me

The setting sounds interesting - and seeing that it will be not as fast-paced as the competition, it'd be possible to participate during the semester as well. I'd be very interested in partaking if this adventure comes into existence smile.gif
Baba-John
Ok, read the brief Malchik, and I'm in.
I’ll post in the next day or so what I’ll be.

phawk69
Once every 48 hours? I can do that smile.gif Count me in biggrin.gif (Thanks for the pm Baba-John smile.gif )

I'm not sure if he will fit, but T'skar has always been a modified nightblade - actually a holdover from AD&D, the mage/thief. Do we need to post bios, background stories, etc? And how about magic classes, do you have to stick to one?

T'skar would be from Tagfier, the bastard child of a Wanderer woman sedused by a wizard. When they are disowned by their tribe, his mother takes him into one of the cities to try and raise him. She teaches him the Wanderer magic, which he finds very useful for his 'job', taking things people have left ungaurded (and sometimes guarded smile.gif ). After his mother's death (a tragic story smile.gif ) he moves from city to city, usually at the request of the magistrates, until he runs into his father, who takes him under his wing, to try and give the boy a real chance in life and the home it feels guilty about not providing before.

If this works, GREAT. If not, we'll see what we can do to change it smile.gif
Kheskeim
If this Nord hasn't been too annoying in the Oblivion comp., he would like to sign up here. Not as shipmaster (his obvious first choice) but as something else; he will have to ponder what that'll be a bit.

mordred kaides
I'll be taking in on this as well.(good tip Baba)
I think I'll post my char later I first need to think somethings over.

(btw are there possibiletys for cursed creatures, Vampires/werewolfs/necromancers)
Malchik
Sorry no but you can be a death mage if you wish they can summon the dead and the undead.
Theta Orionis
I would be interested, but I'm not sure if reading some of the chapters would prejudice my participation in the story.

My character would probably be a shapeshifting one since that's always intrigued me. smile.gif
karkarinus
Definitely count me in. I've got the bug after the Oblivion compo, my first ever.

I'll post my char sometime during the next few days while I carry on in The Fallen Statue, but will more than likely be a completely new one, maybe a Tagfier Wanderer scout/marksman.
gnaag
Count me. I'd like to join. The topic seems to be perfect. One post a 48 hours can make me off, but I will try.
Malchik
Okay that's 8 atm. No prob's Theta it won't be exactly the same. I can take up to 16 but I will have the other group doing something slightly different in the same location. It might be easier to have groups divided by time zone so if you are 1-2 hours either side of forum time we'll call it group A (Europe and Africa) If you are 6-9 hours behind it's group B (Americas) unless you want to be with the Europe lot or vice versa. Far east and Australasia will have to choose which is more convenient.
phawk69
I guess that puts T'skar in group B smile.gif if there ends up being such a thing.
ixnos
indeed count me in...I was just wondering Malchik...I have my own race, I can either explain it here or PM you with the details but to summarise the race are known as Secronic, have animal attributes (enhanced senses and slight facial features, my character has wolf ears and wolf fangs), he also has a few abilities

IPB Image

that is what he looks like, if not then I can live with using Kane again wink.gif

Malchik
Okay some hints for the eight so far. As soon as you have a character post it here and let me tweak it if necessary. Watch what others are posting. The group will be eight and ideally you need a mix of skills. Characters are most skillful if one class but dual class are permitted. They will have lower stats than one class characters. Watch what others are posting and try to build a character that will fit in. You will need a couple of fighters, a tracker, one who can detect traps, a good thief, at most two mages ideally one of them a healer and someone to do the talking.

Theta has already indicated she wishes to be a shapechanger from Niyobi. So others looking to be in group A (if we have enough to split the group) need not take that skill.

This is a list of magic options for those who want to use it.

Dayoneans (all) - true speak/detect lie
Niyobians (a few) - shape changing
Tagfieran Wanderers (all) - conceal and reveal spells
Shallarans - breathe water
Bashkheri (witches only) - animal affinity, turnip sleep (causes the target to fall asleep)

Mage Magic from Tagfier (one school only)
Earth - offensive spells, rock stream, shake etc. but a school that is very focussed more likely to be used for more peaceful actions
Air - offensive spells, tornado, blast, etc - a school that is imaginative even fanciful
Water - flood, turn to steam - a school that is cool and calculating
Fire - many offensive spells - a school that is skilled in combat
Death - serious death spells are too high a level for anyone in this rpg but they have other skills, contact dead, contact undead, feign death etc, - a school that ensures nothing is left unfinished
Light - no real offensive spells but it includes all illusionists - a school that can invent well
Healing - self evident no real offensive spells but can use some healing spells offensively e.g. close out noise - a school that puts helping others first
The Mind - can control and read the minds of others - a school that thinks of everything
Time - serious time spells are outside the range of those in this rpg but can move out of time and move others out of time - a school that holds knowledge

For fighters
Dayoneans - useless fighters (it is illegal)
Niyobians - fair fighters with knives and swords
Jourtresians - excellent fighters with everything but bows and arrows
Tagfieran Wanderers - fighting on horseback using spears and lances
Levdians - a few are very skilled with bows and arrows most don't fight
Shallarans - thrown weapons and tridents excellent
Uritali - machetes and chopping weapons excellent
Bashkheri - poor fighters but a few are good swordsmen

For Thieves
Dayoneans - useless, there is nothing worth stealing on Dayone
Niyobians - fair
Jourtresians - useless, wrong psychology
Tagfieran Wanderers - fair
Levdians - various dubious guilds called 'Yar' mean thieves do well here
Shallarans - useless, there is nothing at all to steal in Shallara
Uritali - good thieves, the society is full of secret cults
Bashkheri - good thieves made so because of the wide disparity between rich and poor

For Using charm/personality
Dayoneans - excellent, no one can lie to them however this can make them be disliked
Niyobians - excellent, the country has rafts of rules about etiquette and formality
Jourtresians - er, no
Tagfieran Wizards - er, no far too arrogant
Tagfieran Wanderers - nothing special
Levdians - fair especially in commercial situations
Shallarans - excellent in the arts of seduction
Uritali - not good, too secret themselves
Bashkheri - variable

Hope this gives you enough to work on.

Pm me if you need more.

Arturius
I'm interested. would quite like to play a shape shifter.
Nyobian Theif (shapechanger)
Name: Zavich Sex: Male Age: 28
His main strength is his stealth, which he aids by shifting into animals, using his natural talent for tracks and his alternate forms heightened smell.
He is skilled with both knife and sling, though mainly for hunting, he prefers to avoid direct confrontation.

Normally for hire to the highest bidder, he feels immense dissatisfaction with his life, a lack of belonging. After one contract working as a tracker for a trapper, he leaves his home in search of something _more_.
He wanders aimlessly till he finds his way to Bashkher, something draws him to the place, his dreams repeat, always he walks through a square of petrified people, fear and pain written on their motionless faces, so dead yet still feeling.

is that ok as a concept malchik?
DragonDudeAW
Well, I'd like to join and since I can't be a vampire anymore sad.gif I guess I'll have think about what I want to be, also, do any of the races you list get any alchemist bonuses, Malchik?

Better post while the postings good smile.gif

Name: T'Skar
Race: Tagfieran Wanderer/Wizard
Class: Thief/Wizard (The Mind)
Sex: Female
Age: 23
Other Magic: Conceal and Reveal Spells

Having inherited her ability to conceal and reveal from her mother, T'skar had drifted into the thieves ways early. Her mother worked hard, for next to nothing. Nobody wanted to help an unwed mother, and to have a girl on top of it ... well, it hadn't been easy. She really didn't think of it as stealing, more as payment withheld; it eased her conscience anyway. When her mother had died she had felt no attachment to any one place, so had started drifting. Learning early that it was not easy, or safe, to be a young girl alone, she had dressed as a boy, and been treated like one. She could protect herself reasonably well with a knife, if it came to a fight, but hardly used one now. Ever since that night - she had been asked to get something from a certain powerful Mind Wizard. It seemed like a simple in and out job, until she got in. The Wizard was home. He had greeted her by name, and said he knew she would come. Instead of punishing her, of killing her, he had a proposion for her: she would serve as an apprentice and he would teach her, then when he felt ready, he would release her, but she would not be able to leave until he said so, whatever her decision. Seeing no real options, she agreed. Oh sure, she tried leaving any number of times, but always when she would get outside, she would turn and come back in, and the Wizard would say something like "How was the air, dear?", or "Not quite yet." "One day," she thought, "one day ..." She wasn't his only pupil, and she wasn't his best pupil, but she was his favorite, even she could see that. There had been that one who had done nothing worse than she had and had gone home a mindless idiot, his brains burnt in his skull. The Wizard came to her one day (she never did learn his name) and told her she was ready, all she had to do was leave. She had eyed the door dubiously, and then headed for it. Once outside she had turned, just as always, heading back in. Then she realized - mind control. Something subliminal, a compulsion she could not resist. As her hand reached for the knob to lead her back in, she fell into her mind, racing through it, looking for the weave, the thread. She found it, and began to unravel it. As the magic came apart around her, she heard a voice in her head "Come in of your own volition, and we will discuss your future." Placing her hand on the knob, under her own power for the first time, she went in and faced the Wizard. He outfitted her for travel, and survival. She wasn't sure where he had found the lock picks and probes, but they were the best she had ever seen. "Use them wisely," he had told her. The cloak had matched her green eyes, and the auburn trim had matched her hair. The rest was standard travel fair; a backpack, some silk rope, food, water skins. She hardly knew what to say, then he produced the dagger. It was silver, with intricate inlay, and very beautiful. "I had it made for your mother, but never gave it to her." That was it, he turned and left the room, she never saw him again. So many questions, and yet all the answers she needed. It was an empty feeling, leaving that house. So she had wandered, looking for someplace to fit in. And now here she was in a strange country, in a strange tavern (although no tavern was really strange), reading a notice calling for help. She had always been a little soft to a sob story, so could she really say no?

I am a little surprised at the female, as T'skar's other incarnations have always been male, but it feels right. Change what you need to Malchik smile.gif
Malchik
Alchemical bonuses - you can play as an alchemist from Tagfier (as opposed to being a Wizard) or from Bashkher itself.
Baba-John
The Story of Baba Bethram.

Over the years, many stories have been told about Baba. Some of them scratch the surface, but mostly they are made up.
Baba was born in the province of Bashkher, in a small village called Lampur, in the year of The Paper Dog.
The village lies in the foothills of The Holy Mountain, on a small stream.
He was the fourth of nine children, and here is where the anomalies start. Of nine children, he was the only male child. Up until his eighth birthday, there is not much to tell about his life.
His father Ram was the top hunter in the village, and his mother, Allayer was the herbalist come midwife.
They wanted for nothing, and life went on around them, without much fuss.
This was until that fateful day, in the middle of their short winter, when his world was turned upside down.
It had been snowing for many weeks, and the village was running out fresh meat.
They sent the hunters out, and four days latter they returned with their kill.
This had to be celebrated, and thus the village rejoiced late into the night, the men drinking and retelling how Ram had run down a Yak, on his own.
That is why on this morning, only Ram and the five younger children were still inside the cottage, when the accident happened. The serene stream turned into a raging flood right before their eyes, and no one could do anything to help. Some said it was because Ram had caught the Yak on The Holy Mountain, others said it was because Allayer was a witch. Others blamed the Gods. No one knows why it happened, but it did................

It was soon after this, that Baba noticed that the other boys in the village were avoiding him.
At first it did not bother him much. He spent his days looking for herbs with his mother, fishing in the small stream or hunting grouse with his sling. Occasionally, he would make a bow out of willow and shoot ducks upstream at the beaver dam. Once he missed, and shot a beaver by mistake. He did not kill the beaver, so he brought it home, and with his mothers help, nursed it back to health. After that you would never see Baba without his beaver trailing him. They worked out new ways to fish, always sharing the spoils equally.
Baba also stopped hunting for fun. He had been proficient with the bow but now you would see him practicing on the old stump at the edge of the woods. Baba was ten when he started noticing, that people of the village would make the warding sign, when ever any of his family went by.

One month before his Eleventh Birthday, Baba still hadn’t decided what he wanted to be. He would be coming of age. He had fasted, prayed, sat in the rain, retreated to a small cave on The Holy Mountain, but nothing......................... Then one morning while Baba was still in bed, the beaver had jumped onto Baba’s furs and bitten him on the nose. Not hard enough to break the skin but enough to bring him to his senses with a jolt. The beaver then took Baba’s hand in his snout, and started pulling him. The sun was not yet up when they went outside, but the beaver was adamant, Baba had to follow him. He would run off a little then turn and squeak as if saying; hurry up. The beaver headed into the woods and at the waters edge there lay a gravid female beaver, obviously in labor. Baba spoke to her trying to calm her so that he could take a closer look and see what was wrong. On closer examination he saw that her birth canal had constricted around the first of her pups. He gently pulled the pup out of her, but it was too late. The pup had suffocated.
After that the litter came quickly, so Baba was no longer needed. He headed home and told his mother what had happened while she made him breakfast. Slowly, she turned from the open-hearth fireplace and looked at him in a strange way all the while nodding her head.

The second major anomaly in Baba’s life was the fact, that he was the only child to be born in the village in the year of The Paper Dog. This meant that he was the only one who would be taking part in the Rite of Passage this year. The full moon came quickly and as Baba was led into the elders hut he was conscious of his singularity. All the elders were present including his mother, but this did little to settle his mind.
Llama stood up after what seemed like an eternity and said;”You have fulfilled the rituals of seeking, what is the outcome?”
At first Baba didn’t answer as he didn’t realize that Llama had spoken to him.
Then, as if listening to someone else saying it, he heard himself say;” I am a shaman.”
This was unheard of. There hadn’t been a male shaman for ............................well, ever.
The look of shock on everyone’s faces could not be disguised. The only one who didn’t judge him was his mother. Allayer stood and quietly said; “I will take this man as my apprentice. Do you agree Baba?”
At this, an argument ensued and Baba was ushered from the hut before could reply.
The next morning he started his apprenticeship under his mother’s watchful eyes.
The subject was never broached again, so he assumed his mother had won.
Many years passed before anything else untoward happened in Baba’s life.

In Baba’s eighteenth year, he became a master witch. There wasn’t any pomp or ceremony.
He was returning from collecting herb in the woods, when he came across a white stag.
Ho took his yew bow from his back, strung it and fired two shots without even thinking.
The stag fell where it stood. Baba skinned the animal and placed as much meat in the skin, as he could carry. When he got home he told his mother what had happened and presented her with the herbs and meat.
She turned and walked into her sleeping chamber, returning immediately holding Ram’s stag horn war bow.
Pushing it into his hands she said:” I can teach you no more. The time has come for you to find your own way.” This is how Baba came to carry Ram’s stag horn war bow.
As the snow started melting, his mother came to him again, with another gift.
She had cured the white stag’s skin and made a cloak for him from it.
It was a semi circle with a semicircular hole on the flat side about 6” in diameter.
On each end there was a silver hasp. Two pieces of antler had been joined with a short silver chain.
Trying it on, he saw that you could wear this cloak permanently, either over your shoulders or down your back. Allayer told him he would be needing it, where he was going. The time had come.
Baba packed his few possessions and said goodbye to his family, not knowing where he was going.

Baba seems to disappear from history for about thirty years before walking into the camp.
What you see is a wily old man of about 48.
“hear you looking for a healer..............” sad.gif
Theta Orionis
Just to clarify something - when you say the shapeshifters can change into any animal smaller than they are, do you mean that each shapeshifter can change into a variety of animal forms, or that each shapeshifter needs to pick one animal form out of the available ones, which should presumably be specified when creating the character?
Malchik
They can change into any animal including fish, birds and insects. However they are vulnerable in such forms to predators of course. An ant may not be a good move in a crowded street. In animal form they cannot communicate with others in the party nor can they communicate with other animals. Useful skill to reach buttons and levers etc or to get aerial views.

Well guys, my old gang joined up so I'm game. Lets do this.

MEET:

Ara Lothea
Race: Bashkeri Witch
Class: Light Fighter/Tracker
Sex: Female
Age: 21
Animal: "Aena" the snow owl

From day one, Ara had had a hard life. Her mother died in childbirth and Ara was saved only through the restorative magic of the witch doctor who delivered her. She grew up in the Baskkerian town of Evale. It didn't take long for the inhabitants of the town to realize that she was different. The first thing that people noticed and commented on was her white hair. Said to have come from the witch's intervention in her birth, it was white the moment it grew on top of her head as an infant. Her eyes were crystal blue and looked like small snowflakes on a pane of glass. Her physical appearance caused those around her to label her as "The Snow Queen." This unfortunately was not a compliment. She was tormented in school and as a result, confided only in her overworked father who struggled to support them.

As her father was relying on her mother for financial support, it was quite a hit to the family when she died. Ara's mother was a witch and was an excellent scout. She was paid handsomly by the town's garrison for the work she did. As Bashkeri was a peaceful nation, the garrison was only there to defend against the nomad attacks of the plains that lay on the edge of town. When Ara's mother passed away, her father fell into depression and debt. He had only Ara to talk to and he did everyday. Some days she wondered if he thought that he was speaking to her mother through her. She never asked. The most important aspect of Ara's mother was that she had a strong affinty to one animal. A snow owl. As the owl was not killed in childbirth, it chose its next master. This being Ara herself. The owl, who Ara's mother affectionetly named Aena, acted as Ara's guardian when her father was gone. It had lived an exceptionally long life and showed no signs of weakness or age. Some said that when Ara's mother died, her soul was transferred into Aena forever. As long as her mother permitted the owl to live, it would live.

As Ara grew up with the owl she became close friends with it. So close in fact, that she seemed to be able to intepret the animal's very thought. She only needed to think an action and the bird would fly off and peform admirally. Her companionship with the owl helped her little in school. It only earned her more taunts. However, toughened by the loss of her mother at an early age, Ara was just about immune to their insults. After the graduation from her school, Ara had no where to go. She could not afford to start a business, and she could not afford to attempt higher education. Her father had gone into debt to help her through school and was all but bankrupt. She began to wish of fame and fortune. Aena would support the family by bringing a pheasant or mouse to the table once a night and her father would try to pay the bills. In order to help, Ara took a job as an apprentice to an old shopkeeper.

However, a time soon came when the shopkeeper couldn't pay her for her work anymore. He offered something else to Ara however and she jumped at the idea. This was schooling in the art of the katana. He taught her the different Katas and different stances. She learned how to fight and how to defend herself. After a year of training, she felt she was ready to take mercenary scouting jobs for the garrison troops in Evale. She was literally walking in her mother's footsteps. It annoyed her to be unable to attack anything unless defending herself and she often wished that she was scouting for another nation that wasn't as...docile. She found that coupled with Aena, she could not fail in her assigned tasks. She used the money she made to buy weapons and armor that were specially crafted in snow white.

However, the year of training had cost her father the extra money she had been making. He was living off the land and eating only when he had too. Ara realized that he was starving to death. She decided that she had to leave. Her father could not afford to support her. Taking her belongings and using mercenary money to travel, she left her father to look for fame and fortune.

[OOC: Malchik can you be more specific in spells that a Bashkeri would know? Or are they only proficient in making others fall asleep? Also would it be to much to ask to be placed into the group with my old team? I throughly enjoyed their company.]
tiaxanderson
If it's ok I would like to join to, seems like fun.

Name: Tiax Anderson
Occupation: Time Mage
Land: Tagfieran
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 32*
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blond
Favorite color: Blue
(*Just for the ones who care.. I'm 17)

Background:

He grew up as a nomad's son so he has limited horsemanship skill. Because of all the traveling his magic skills were long supressed by his parent's. But when he was 13 he got lost and was left behind as the nomads moved on. A wizzard found the boy and saw his potential. Even though the wizzard cared for his pupil and the power that he beholds Tiax had no easy life from here. He needed to earn his food and tutoring.

Tiax is a thoughtfull wizzard who probally thinks to much about the consequentions of his actions. He will make sure anyone will end his "story" when it was supposed to. After his tutor died he bought a home in the mountains and lived most of the rest of his life alone and is considerd a loner, but also a relyable person hwo will do what is best. His magic is rumord to be very powerfull yet he seems unwilling to use such strenght.

Tiax's share in this is because he thinks this should not have happend. To many "storys" end to soon and this affects the temporal spectrums to much. It HAS to be stopped.

P.S. Will something like a familiar, a small pet-like creature with limited magical abillities and increased intelligence who helps a wizzard with his or her tasks in life, be possible?

If so,
Familiar: Arie, the lesser time dragon. (Arie is about 2 feet tall and 1,5 feet long her eyes are green and her skinn is a mixture of blue and green. She can shift trough time on her own and has wings. Her claws do very little damage but after multiple hits there's a very small chance the target gets lost in time. She's the familliar of Tiax Anderson.)

(premmission to adjust Arie her powers if you think she's to powerfull)
mordred kaides
Ok here goes. this will hoppefully be my character.
name Mandrake Kaides
Race Tagfieran wanderer
class thief
sex male
magic conceal and reaveal
age 22

My story is a simple one.
long ago, when I was twelve or something, our caravan was close to one of the major citys. we camped just a mile out of the city gate for the night. When day broke it was my job to retrieve the animals. they where still drinking so I took a little nap while waiting. the sun was high when I waked up first I was scared of the punnishment I would get, but then I wonderd why no one came looking for me. I walked back only to see a ravished camp. there where horse tracks leading to the city. so he jumped on his fathers best horse and rode to the city for days I tryed to find the killers but they where no where to be found.

I sold the horse for food but when money ran out I needed to find other means.
I found out that I was a prety good climber. so it was easy for me to sneak into houses or other more guarded buildings. he became a thief. but he didn't steal for wealth, he stole for survival.

At one of his break ins in what appeared to be an empty house. he got caught. by a mage called Tiax Anderson.

altough the mage didn't turn him in to the authorities he made mandrake make a fow that he would never steal from an inocindt person again. then Tiax took Mandrake in and for the last year he didn't need to steal.
Mandrake took fighting lessons by a local mercenairy in staves and daggers and with the money he earned working for the mage he bought descent clothes a 2.5 meter wooden stave and a pair of identical daggers with a point at the end of the handles and no guard.

also in the time he worked for the mage he learned to read and write. taking much intrest in poetry he learned alot in his friends library, always carrying a blank book and writing set just incase insperation comes up.
Theta Orionis
Kyrika

Nyobian female, aged 17

Waif-like, long, straggly black hair, large grey eyes

Occupation: none so far

Skills: Very good at stealth, picking locks, forging documents. Good memory. Beginner's skill in throwing knives. Shapeshifting.

Kyrika was born into a wealthy merchant family, the youngest of six daughters. Her parents died - under circumstances which were never fully explained to her - when Kyrika was 10. As custom demanded, her eldest sister Sabayi became her guardian, and Kyrika was sent to live with her and her husband in his family's large estate just outside the provincial capital.

Sabayi - who had ever since her marriage into this powerful family been made to feel their social inferior - was deeply ashamed of the unkempt waif custom had obliged her to look after. Not a day went past that she didn't vent her resentment, be it by inflicting social humiliations upon her little sister or by chiding her and directing spiteful remarks at her.

It was her youth in this household that shaped Kyrika - she learned to fade into the background, to go unnoticed, to move around stealthily, to sneak and listen to conversations she was not meant to her. The things she learned in those conversations fuelled her curiosity, and she became adept at picking locks with her hairpins, at memorising documents she found in her brother-in-law's office, at forging signatures.

During her early years in Sabayi's house the lonely Kyrika had found little companionship other than that of the household animals, and had developed a sense of animal empathy. During the turmoil of puberty, Kyrika discovered that her empathy was so strong that, if she concentrated very hard, she could not only empathise with those animals that had become her companions but even adopt their form. She enjoyed the power she thought this gave her - being able to conceal herself so completely from others.

As Sabayi's hostility towards her little sister increased - Sabayi was all to well aware of the glances the younger woman attracted from her husband - Kyrika became more and more reckless. She began listening in to her brother-in-law's councils - it seemed he was an important functionary in the provincial administration - learning much that disturbed her. She started stealing items of value - no longer to irritate and spite her sister, but to gather together some money so as not to be dependent on her sister's charity for too much longer.

A chance conversation she overheard convinced Kyrika that she should leave this house that had never been her home.
"She is always watching me, I know it," Sabayi had sobbed to her husband. "Like a crow, a bird of ill omen, she watches me and wishes me ill. And she means the children ill, too. She must go, I cannot bear to have her in the house. She is like our grandmother, the witch - she could turn herself into a crow and curse people. Send her away, I don't care where."
And then her brother-in-law's voice, which had chilled Kyrika. "There is shapeshifting blood in your family? I never knew... Yes... Yes, I think I know where to send Kyrika. Leave it to me."

Kyrika had listened no longer, but fled to gather her things. A last foray into the office had furnished her with a pouch of gold, and a blank travel permit that she hoped would suffice to get her far enough away. Where to, she had no idea.

It was the last Kyrika would see of her sister and brother-in-law. In the days that followed her ability to conceal herself had saved her more than once from those she suspected had been sent out to bring her back. The permit, and a sad story she had made up to go with it (some people were so easy to fool if a waif looked at them with large sad eyes!), had bought her passage on a boat, but even many leagues downriver she couldn't feel safe - her brother-in-law's arm was long, it seemed. When she had overheard some travellers speak of a different land she had known that she had no choice but to leave Nyobi, and begin a new life elsewhere.

Her skill at forging documents had sufficed to get her across the border, but the stolen gold was running out rapidly, and Kyrika never wanted to depend on another's charity again. And this new country... it was so different from Nyobi. Her ability to hide no longer felt enough to keep her safe. With the last of her gold, she bought herself a knife, and passage on a trader's caravan to a place called Papred. What she was going to do when she got there she didn't know.
Baba-John
Name-Baba Bethram
From-Lampur- Bashkher
Age- 48
Occupation-Shaman/Tracker ( (NWN Ranger)
GMT Evenings 17h00-21h00

It was night when Baba arrived at the camp.
As Baba moved into the light, one could see the occasional glint of a chain mail vest shimmering beneath his white fur cloak. Few realized that what they were seeing, was a relict from days long past, or was it days yet to come. It was made from unobtainium, a rare metal found only in T'mor'dend. How it had come to be in Baba’s possession no one knew. Baba was not big on words. He relished the solitude of the wastelands. He generally found the company of people, tedious. Baba growled, “Come brother and sit with me.” At which the pure white snow wolf appeared and came to him and then sat down at his side. Got anything for us to eat? It’s been a while since we had any cooked food. We traveled day and night to get here from Tagfier. Heard you were looking for honorable help. Baba took out a long pipe and reaching into the fire pit, retrieved a brand with which he lit it. Yes...................................... Long trip....................................... rolleyes.gif

Mr Anderson you need to adjust the familiar. There are no dragons in the game I'm afraid. If you want a familiar it will have to be a real creature but with the amount of travelling you'll be doing around Bashkher they'd be spending a lot of time in a box which is cruel!

Also for game play purposes please indicate which time zone you are in.

This is not the RP thread guys. Just the posting of character and interest. You won't be arriving at a camp. Haven't finally decided where yet as I'm waiting to see if anyone else is joining but it will probably be in the offices of the Security Adviser of Papred capital of Bashkher. There will be a new start thread when it's ready to go. It will be a day or two yet.
tiaxanderson
Although, with it's size, you could hardly call it a dragon.. And it's more of a flying reptile, it's just called a dragon, perhaps it could stay home..

But with it's capabillity of flying and to "leave" time for an extended period of time, I don't think travveling would be a problem. Actually I was more worried about her claws happy.gif ...

Anyways it's the game of you people so ultimatly it's your call.

Time zone: Europe - Netherlands - GTM +1

P.S. If someone is worried about the "past" meeting with Mordred K.. He contacted me and it fine. I hope the RP will be a success
Malchik
There are game reasons why no dragons actually even little ones.

We seem to have plenty of thieves and magic users signing up. How about some fighters, trackers and negotiators?
tiaxanderson
Well if I must I'm sure Arie won't mind going to another temporal plane.... She can take care of herself tongue.gif .

And I agree that, for a land wich has practicly no magic users, a lot of 'm found their way here..

Arturius
Tagfier Wizard
Daelvan
A Fire mage of Redoubtable order carries himself with confidence and more than a little irritation accross
the room.
{Lousy bets, and foolish brags, phah}
At his university the master of mind heard him bragging to a student (Matisha) of his prowess at his art. the other student saw the master of mind was behind him, and challenged him.

Matisha - So great Daelvan are you truely a master of your art or merely of bluster?
Dael-WHAT! Watch *he wreaths himself in flames that barely touch him, as shadows dance in the flames in the forms of wild horses*
Do you Still doubt my power.
Matisha - Impressive, i suppose with such power you melt steel?
Dael - Easily!
Matisha - Summon fire to engulf you enemies
Dael - Pah - Parlour tricks, I could save the peasants fools in Bashkher if i wanted
Master of mind - A just use for such my power.
Deal - My lord i didn't see you... uh
Master Mind - No?
Dael - I was just
Master of mind cuts him off - I wouldn't want to delay you i'm sure you have many preparations, i shall ensure provisions are ready for you tomorrow morning.
Dael - But.... *He's cut short by the masters look* ... Yes sir

Looking miserable he headed to pack his belongings.

Sael=Arturius so only Rhyll absent angry.gif
Evaeril
whoopsie daisy. I meant Moreton.
Arturius
I'll happilly play Sael as a wizard healer if people prefer, don't mind at all. smile.gif or if malchik can be persuaded to run a continuation of the other game as well *POKE*
Nice to be missed though Evaeril & Baba-john

Sael upon returning with the soul gem empty to his beloved, is thrown out of the Theives guild....
Siana - Fool, I knew you couldn't be trusted to trap the daedra. You couldn't even get youself killed. An incompetent with more luck than your lifes worth! GET OUT, OUT!
Wilks (a kindly young man with a deft hand where pockets are concerned pulls Sael back) - You should leave now...
Sael - But my dearest...
Wilks *rather more desperately wispers and pulls more forcebly* - She'll kill you, you can do better than her just leave.
Wilks forces Sael to the door, and pushes him outside, the rather stunned Sael tries not to cry.
He walks off in search of the others he met, unable to return home, and unable to be with the one he loves.

OOC smile.gif Ok guys you choose which character i play Daelvar or Sael smile.gif. the arogant b@st@rd fire mage or the wet Idiot healer smile.gif

Let’s all go to the Drunken Alit and have a drink. I’m clean in this game, so no more Moonsugar. wacko.gif

I prefer Sael, he’s much more friendly but I’m sorry I stole your job! happy.gif dry.gif closedeyes.gif

Sorry

Hey there's a live chat room-needs a small plugin Catch you there.
phawk69
I do hope cuchlann can join us, but from his last post in the Lake Island thread, I'm not sure we will see him smile.gif For sure not as Moreton, anyway. The Alit sounds great, who's buying? I'm flat broke smile.gif
Arturius
Sael it is then. stole my job?, i'm not bothered what i play smile.gif

Sael walks into the drunken alit, looking roughly the color of mordred.
With a blank expression on his face he walks over to the bar.
Its only the second time the barman asks his order that he realises someones even speaking to him.
Sael - 'I'll have some of that' *indicateing the nearest bottle on the bar
Barman - 'Uh we use that for cleaning the bar... Here try this' *he hands Sael a drink which should probably have biohazard warnings on the side*
*Sael fumbles in his pocket for money spilling most his change on the floor. he fumbles around picking it up, pays the barman and looks around for any others he recognises.*
mordred kaides

So what you think, turning his head this way and that way.

Found this dude who said he could do a real good earjob for me. While I was at it I got rid of the hair as well.

Can I buy you a Sujama Sera?

Now I look almost human, and I’ve even got fingerprints.

They really must build in an auto refresh on their pages................
Arturius
'Hmm' *he looks distant and far older than his years* 'oh yes thankyou'
* you notice the bottle in front of him is 1/2 empty and has the equivalent label to absynth.*
*in an distant voice* ' the ears look good'
*he stares out the window without seeing*

Kalmer Naowen had lived all his life on the vast steppes of Tagfier. He descended from long lines of hardy folk - horse-breeders and hunters - and lived in relative peace in what had started out as a makeshift camp for his father, but had eventually become "home", a base from which they lived their lives and bred some of the finest steeds in all of Tagfier, and which had grown to be something of a village.

A somewhat dry character, Kalmer's way of life consisted in tending the horses, general agricultural work and hunting the plains for animals. He was kind-hearted and very protective of his kin, (he was the patriarch of his village) and of none more so than his wife and daughter.

When wind of the alien menace reached his ears, his mind was at once clear: as painful as it was to leave his family and way of life, it was imperative that he lend his help to the band of travellers who had pledged to rid the land of the otherwise inevitable tragedy. Hope was little, but he would not stand idly by and let this threat destroy his people and all that they had worked for.

STATS:

NAME: Kalmer Naowen
RACE: Tagfier
CLASS: Hunter/Tracker
AGE: 32
SKILLS: Marksman, longsword, acute senses of sight, hearing and smell
DESCRIPTION: 5' 11 " (1m 83cm), athletic build, rugged complexion, fair/blond hair with hazel eyes
ITEMS: Longbow, arrows (normal and poisoned), longsword, huntsman's knife, travelsack of varied hunting/tracking utilities.

Kalmer is loyal in nature, has a strong sense of right and wrong, and may seem unsociable, but this is because he speaks little, and suffers fools even less. When he does speak, it is usually of great importance. He is very warm-hearted beneath his rugged exterior.

(OOC- I hope this will fit in with the rest. Malchik tweak as necessary - I'm just happy to be here.)

Evaeril
Yessir E'noth. I did notice that. I posted it in the OOC disccussion. lol. Even though we failed, our ending was terrific. It was kind of like, uh... lets all go home. The End.
