Hi, I have started this group so that we have somewhere to post OOC and maybe discuss as needed. If you haven't read the MUST READ post in the off topic area, it would be VERY beneficail if you did. Looks like our first order of business is finding a traitor in our midst, and talking with Poleaxedgre to see about our mission.

Hope this helps us a little ph34r.gif
phawk69
Hey, I haven't had time to follow all the threads, so if someone knows the race of Arturius and Baba-John, that would be great. I tried searching the drunken atlit and frygge's camp groups, but couldn't find bios on either of them. Thanx for the help happy.gif
Malchik
My fault, Arturius is Sael an Imperial. BJ can post for himself. You also have a new member Evaeril a Khajiit. If someone could put together a skill sheet for all seven of you it will help with your strategy planning later.

phawk69
I've started a skill sheet, but need info from each.

As for our traitor, Moreton has eaten twice, and Sael has seen him, which would also include Baba-John and Hourdann(if he ever shows up). If Poleaxedgra's food is also poisoned and Moreton has eaten, and has not been poisoned, we may have our man. Just a thought. I had also thought of having everyone touch E'noth's Holy Symbol, but an undead couldn't do that anyway, whether cursed or not, so that won't work. I do hope Moreton doesn't have an immunity to poison smile.gif

For the submerged temple, I was wondering if this house that can fly and walk can also swim? If I am not online next time Malchik can post, someone could ask Poleaxedgre. Other than that, I should be able to cast a couple water breathing spells, but probably not 6 and 6 swift swimming. I so have 2 restore magica, and we may be able to make a few more from what's in the cabin, may even be able to make some for underwater. We will see.
cuchlann
I sent a PM to Malchik about the poisoning.

Skill sheet:

Moreton Fairfax

Race: Breton

Major skills: ranged attack (I can't remember the catch-all Morrowind term just now - bows and thrown weapons); illusion; speechcraft, mercantile

Age: 20

Weapons: Steel bow (100 steel arrows); twelve steel throwing knives

Potions: 1 quality poison (I used the restore health on the old lady)

Moreton is rather dashing in a green waistcoat, yellow shirt, green trousers, and yellow boots. He has knives hidden all about his person, and tends to pull one out when nervous or thinking, to fiddle with. He's his hometown's dart champion three years running, has been kicked out of the house by his father and threatened with the cutting off of funds if he doesn't go out and "make a man of himself." He often has an odd anecdote or reference concerning his family, or the current location (unknown) of his well-loved wide-brimmed, yellow hat.

Hi guys...sorry but on weekends I have a hard time getting computer access. I'm only on now because its 1am and I"m putting in the grades for my classes, they're due on Tuesday. Our school uses an online gradebook which gives me the excuse to be on. smile.gif

we should also be looking at strength, etc ... who ever it is had to have gotten the jump on Poleaxedgra

Name: Rhyll
Race: Dunmer-Altmer (male)
Age: 19
Weapons: Silver Katana (requested enchantment)
Armour: Netch Leather
Potions: Fortify Speed, Fortify Magika
Scrolls: none
Enchanted Items: (the sword)

This is my basic sheet. My requested enchantment was not specific, because I wasn't sure what would be good against daedra ...so I asked for something that would make it particularly effective in hurting them. I'm not sure what Esquisite did to it... smile.gif

I'll list major /minor skills tomorrow

good night
phawk69
Stength alone wouldn't do it, there likely had to be some major sneak involved as well or a little illusion, say invisibility or chameleon.

Re: Evaeril's "Doesn't everyone have signs that give them special spells?"

You mean like Morrowind's The Lady or The Apprentice, etc? I think the rules said one could make a character "from" any game, and I don't remember anything like that in Daggerfall (not that I ever got very far in that game - though I did get to see the dead king ghost: it scared the virtual snot outta me, all powerful and me with just steel weapons; I ran all the way across a Vivec-sized city to get to the fighter's guild, the only open place where I could get in that late at night). So maybe, maybe not? It's a good question, though.

Using Hero machine 2.0 we can show each other what we are trying to look like. Here I am

IPB Image

You can find it here=

Hero Machine

Also as a side note, does anyone know what is going on with the Hourdann situation?
cuchlann
Hourdann? Are we supposed to have another character around?
Evaeril
Yes. He hasn't said anything on our thread yet. He's posted in other threads and realized it but has said nothing in ours. Does anyone know what's going on?
phawk69
Malchik did say in an earlier post that he would allow him a few nubie mistakes, and then he would frag him, so I assume the nubie got fragged ohmy.gif rolleyes.gif
Evaeril
Well if we split into groups to explore then we would be one short. But I think we can handle ourselves.
phawk69
I do have to agree with Sael/Arturius that Malchik is doing this for 50 people, so splitting our thread seems a little, what to say, unnecessary. We may need to, but it may be better to stick together.
Evaeril
Yeah you guys are right. If we find a need we'll split but we have a pretty well rounded group as it is.
phawk69
The best way to have an action completed if you can't be online is to leave your characture about to do it. I am sure Malchik will complete the action for you smile.gif Actually from what I've seen of how he wants to move the story along, he may have us do an action INSPITE of what we plan - so I hope we're all ready to sink to the bottom of a lake and get eaten by slaughter fish smile.gif

It might not hurt to use this area for planning our stratagies as well, as I think that is the purpose of it. Our thread could get quite bogged down with "I like this, but I like this, and I think this." Just a thought, spam me if you like smile.gif
Malchik
You are right. As I posted in another thread everyone has valid ideas but somehow you must agree on one. The off topic area is fine but you can legitimately do it in the rpg thread too, your choice. If you find it difficult, one way forward is to look at the game as a series of 'moves' and that you takes turns in calling the shots on the next 'move'. So this time it might be t'skar in character, next time Arturius and so on. But you would have to agree to that approach. Anyway don't get bogged down in insisting on getting your own way. Move it forward please.
phawk69
I was wondering about setting an order of march for our little group? I may ooc this in the main thread as well, as I'm not sure if we are using this or not.

I was thinking Morderd (as he seems to want to be first), then Baba-John and Evaeril flanking him, Sael behind them, then Moreton with his bow and Rhyll (only because we haven't heard from him lately) behind him, and then E'noth bringing up the rear.

I would perfer to be in the front, being a fighter characture, but it looks like we have lots for the front and none to protect the back. This is only a suggested order for moving down corradores and into rooms, once there we can split and face any enemies as needed. This might stop a little confusion. Would REALLY appriciate input.
Evaeril
Good idea. The order is fine by me as long as Mordred stays in front of me
Baba-John
QUOTE(Evaeril @ Mar 16 2006, 07:37 PM)

Evaeril shivered uncontrollably. Now we know where the cold air is coming from. He put his sword back into its sheath and hugged himself for warmth. A death from hypothermia wasn't caparable with one from battle. Making sure that the creature wasn't running off, Evaeril turned around to address Baba-John. Pointing at the map in his hand he sent out a thought.

Any idea where this passageway leads?

Inside the door stairs lead down to a large open room with two doors one immediately across from the entrance and one to the right. If you take the entrance ahead of you you will be in a bigger hall with three additional exits straight ahead and one to each side. Going ahead again will take you to the Interior shrine bigger again with the full sized statue of the god. There is no other exit from the shrine but the way you came in.

Six of us, stand back armed with bows or magic, Two next to the door.(You + Mordred)

OK

Waiting for Malchik we’ve had 2 descriptions ..........................................

1)The two side doors from the second room lead to corridors, similar to Ald Daedroth in Vvardenfell if you have been there. The corridors have rooms at each end with statues to other daedra gods, I cannot remember which. The door to that goes off to the right from the first room leads to a cave complex about which I know nothing at all. Even when it was possible to visit the shrine as a tourist this was always considered to be dangerous. I imagine that is where you will need to go.

2)The water drains out of the chamber and the other door will now open. The passage in front of you is dry but very dark. There are rooms off to the left and right but the main passage continues.

I'd say we are here............but?
phawk69
I think the description given us by Poleaxedgra is correct, but that there has been a little remodeling of the enterance. Now, instead of going down stairs you come into the airlock room and then the two rooms left and right on the main corridore. From the descriptions sent us by Malchik, I would say the door to our right is the one to the cave complex, and from the mental message sent by Poleaxedgra - Malchik is not trying to get us lost, but through this quest. And if we all die, well it's just a game, despite his by-line smile.gif Thankfully we are to be judged on gameplay, not whether we completed the quest or not smile.gif
mordred kaides
I think its best if we'd just say that were going in to the caves not exactly specifying the route we take so we don't have anymore confusion over where we are.

Fine by me
Evaeril
I changed Evaeril's position so he has not yet entered the door. Mordred and Moreton are inside the cave. I followed E'noth's advice about the fact that we've gone through a room already without Malchik's description. I agree with E'noth in saying that we should wait for Malchik's instructions. We don't want to enter a cave if there is actually Daedra in the room with us right now! As for location, the 2nd description was the first part of the shrine. We continued down that main passwage way and got to a door, entered that door and now we are faced with either entering the main shrine (center door) or going into the right door (caves). We are choosing the right door.

I hate to say this, but we have yet to face conflict. This thing ends in 2 days on Saturday at 7:00 eastern time. I feel like Mordred at times and want to rush through just to reach SOMETHING. I mean, you guys aren't holding your swords and bows for nothing right? Maybe I'm trigger happy. As of now, I'm beginning to suspect the whole damn place is empty. Anyway, we can't do anything unless the DM comes back and guides us on. We'll try to go step for step and actually make it through.

Fine by me, my character is a half wit and a useless fighter so putting him in the middle where he might actually be of use is probably the best option smile.gif
Evaeril
Ok guys I'm suggesting we take the center tunnel as the center tunnel always leads deeper into the shrine. More evidence for the center tunnel includes the voice that was heard. He was obviously talking to someone telling him/her to fetch the others. I'd say that adds up to two things. One, the others are probably not in the center tunnel... and two, whoever was given the task of fetching them is important. At least more important then the ones that will be fetched. You catch my drift?

Left and right also usually tend to be wings. We'll use E'noth's order meaning, Morderd, I'll take second to ensure that the vampire doesn't try to eat us, then Baba-John, Moreton, Sael, Rhyll and E'noth. Any objections?

If not then BOOK it. By the point that you will probably read this, we will have a little over then one day. We can do this guys. Just keep it moving.

Sounds good to me cool.gif But how are you going to convince the vampire? He does have a bit of a tendency to want to do everything, and do it his own way despite what has been posted before, or by whom it was posted.
Baba-John
Baba-John Thief
Nord/Woodelf

As much as I'm loath to admit it, I am no fighter. I am a tactician if anything other than thief.
Therefore, it is not logical for me to be first, unless you live by the premise of using up the old ones first.

As the tunnel is extremely narrow, it would also be illogical for your normal swordsman to be at the front.

Most Daedra attack using casting magic, not weapons, so who ever is at the front, either has to be very fast or very agile or both.

My choice for the front is therefore Evaeril or Mordred.
Preferably Evaeril, as he should be able to use his claws and get past our attacker, raising our odds to 2-1

Second in the queue should be our best magic user, so that can both, attack and defend, simultaneously.

Third should be the thief with the highest sneak. My character has sneak, security, acrobatics, athletic and block as his major skills.
Light armor, long blade, armorer, marksman and speechcraft as his minor skills.

Then follow the rest........................

From what I've been told and heard, it sounds like we should take the left tunnel.
Evaeril
Sigh... I didn't want to go in front of Mordred but fine. And yes, maybe there was some confusion with the center tunnel, if that voice came with the left tunnel we should head into that one. Alright, so the order is Me, Mordred, Baba-John, Sael, Moreton, Rhyll and E'noth?
phawk69
Sael has addmitted he is no fighter, either. E'noth does have Restoration and Alteration, basically healing and protection. If we have to move single file, as Malchik says, he may be best used closer to the front. The order I originally posted was with the thought of being able to go two abreast - the vampire, because he likes to be first; then a fighter style (in this case Evaeril) and a thief style (Baba-John); then someone to heal (Sael); then ranged weapons (Moreton) and Rhyll because he is a part of our group, but hasn't posted in a while, and then a fighter to bring up the rear.

I do have to agree with Baba-John's tactics, and really feel we should let him make the calls, I feel safe following his lead, even if it is from the back of the pack, unless he thinks we should split up again smile.gif
Baba-John
Basicly we need to be at the machine by 10 or11 tomorrow morning GMT or wer'e out of time.
Evaeril
I'd really like to go second. After Mordred threw me like touch football at the ceiling in a second, I think he is more then capable as far as agility goes. Plus at this point, my character would NOT want Mordred behind him. How about Mordred takes first, and then the rest is how Baba-John suggested? And we all agree, left tunnel.
phawk69
It seems Evaeril will not have Mordred behind him, and it looks as if Mordred is willing to go first, so our order could be: Mordred, Evaeril, E'noth, Baba-John, Sael, Moreton, and lastly Rhyll.

Left tunnel seems to be the one with the leader, so lets go.

There have been up to 5 of us on line recently - Baba-john, Moreton, Mordred, Evaeril, and myself, I think if we can agee, we would have enough of a majority to post an order, and go with it.
Evaeril
Sounds good to me. Lets go Mordred- lead us in.
phawk69
It seems Malchik will be back about 11:00 pm GMT, see you all then smile.gif
Evaeril
Thats 6:00 eastern US time for those who aren't good in math.
Evaeril
We may be in the wrong tunnel. I sent most of you a PM but the voice called out from the left TO the right. In order to stop the ceremony we need to stop the people from being there. Therefore we need to stop the guy fetching them. He is in the Right tunnel. We are in the left. If we are in the wrong tunnel we all die. We need to correct this mistake fast.
Evaeril
Ok, according to Malchik's advice, we are going the right way. I was reading into it too much. Lets keep going then! Hopefully malchik will post soon.
phawk69
You were right, we are going the wrong direction, but for the wrong reason, we need to go down the right passage where the ceremony is to take place and get the leader, before the others come.

I don't think Malchik posted for us to stop and think just to throw us off, I really think he wants us to complete his game; he's not the 'killer' DM I was, with fights every few feet, and random damage tables smile.gif He really wants us to succeed with his hints (at least 3 posts I can think of off the top of my head that have really helped us get to where we are). So lets try thinking smile.gif
Evaeril
Good call people. Did you see what happened to one group?!

The door contains a deadly trap that slays everything in a five hundred foot radius. You are all instantly killed.

Thank god we are not dead... yet.
phawk69
Thanks for the heads-up, but what now? This Nord has zero lockpicking, and we have company smile.gif Good thing you ducked into a cupboard, you may want to get our visitor, and then we can back up and let Baba-John have a go at the trap? We could play Rhyll as well, since we haven't heard from him in a while, and have him help with our unseen 'guest'.

By the way, which group? smile.gif
Malchik
Who is reading other threads? (No I jest; of course you are, I would too for hints). I can be nasty if I choose to be but this is a competition and as such I'd rather you got to the end - although whether you succeed or fail in your objective is much more random. I did edit my post in the monastery thread but only because to kill them all because of a newby error would have been a little harsh I think. However it was generous as I had written 'you need to check the door to see if it is locked or trapped' (which actually I shouldn't have had to post as it is surely standard for rpgs) and then one player simply opened the door! There are a lot of first time rpgers in the comp and I am trying to encourage and educate in the hopes that some will go on to join or even run new rpgs once Oblivion fever has subsided. But there are risks and you may get killed if you don't use your opportunities to the full even before you reach the chamber.
phawk69
Nice Evaeril, only a Dremora Lord and Scamp smile.gif Who wants to post for Rhyll? Moreton is likely out for this fight, as he can't shoot through Rhyll, so maybe he could do it?

Think we can get everyone killed in our first fight? I guess we do need to wait a few minutes before playing for all the rest, eh?

I have sent a pm to Rhyll, requesting his presence. I hope he gets it.
Evaeril
Well I kind of need some help here. Evaeril wasn't exactly as strong as he predicted. (Due to his bragging...sigh) Mordred is now facing a Daedra Lord (injured as he may be) and a scamp alone. I wish you guys better luck then I. And should you prevail, I'm sure Evaeril would appreciate some healing as he is slipping to the point of no return.

Oh and thanks for the kindness with the door, Malchik.
phawk69
It was a nice fight, but I must say I don't think Malchik will be too pleased smile.gif You have fought a whole battle, and lost mind you, on your own. I'm not sure if you've read any of the posts on 'powergaming' but judging from your 'fight' you haven't. You have the ability in any situation to say what you are doing, but not the outcome of said action; i.e. I swing my sword at the Dremora Lord. The end. You do not have the ability to say what the outcome of that action is; i.e. I lop his head off; nor do you have the ability to say what, if any, action is taken in retaliation.

So, although likely in BIG trouble (by that I mean facing a Dremora and a Scamp in a confined space), it might not hurt to edit your post as to what you are planning to do, or doing, and let Malchik tell you what happens, instead of writing the story for him. smile.gif
Evaeril
Ok thanks for the tip. I also was worried that I had stepped over the line in that field. I edited my post accordingly. I hope it is slightly better.
phawk69
I personally would say it looks much better than the first attempt biggrin.gif , we can hope Malchik agrees tongue.gif
