I just felt we should follow suit, and create our own Monastery thread just as the other groups have. We can discuss plans ect. freely in here.

Tiramir
nielsmajere
Here's the final version of the map, with outlines, Malchiks suggested changes, and better lighting. I hope you all like it biggrin.gif .
Malchik
Not bad the only two things I'd change is the section south of the monastery is two blocks one on either side of the road leading to the monastery church and the inner wall is entire of itself. At present you are using the western, southern and northern outer walls for both. It is a wall within a wall with a small gap bewteen them.

Huh that sounds patronising. I didn't mean 'not bad' I meant very good!
aridale
Nice! I cant really read it cause of the cursive font but it looks good.
nielsmajere
I realised from the slight blur, and the cursive it might be hard to read, so I've mapped out a sort of top to bottom order here... (hope it helps)

Northe Gate
Garth
Bronze Door
Monastary Church
West Gate ---- Road --- East Gate
Inner Wall ---- Refectory
Southern Door
Infirmary
South Gate

Well everyone, now that we've solved the mystery, I was hoping we could use the off-topic threads more often to make our planning for the assault easyer...

Not much time to post, today: I'll write something this evening.
Anyway I read Tiramir's official post about strategy and I agree more or less.
In the meanwhile, assume I agree with you on major decisions.
See you this evening,

nielsmajere
Ok I've posted my current strategy "plans" here.

QUOTE
Shaken though he was by the discovery, Tiramir's spirits were renewed by Crimson's words, and the prospect of bringing vengeance to the Daedra scum. "Unlike you fighters perhaps, I am at the full extent of my power in open spaces, where I have no fears of striking friendly troops. As I am not the only spell caster, and it appears a few of us have some skill with a bow, I propose we "scale the walls". However, I believe we can take this to a greater level with the use of levitation - either through spells or potions. If we could make our way through the gate to the northern wall, I believe we could simply glide to the enemies. We sorcerers could provide shields as well as pin the Daedra with our spells. When the warriors finally make it across, we could do much the same as what one does when boarding a ship. We would spill into the Garth, and overrun their defenses. From here we could make our way to the stones. During the entire battle, my summoned creatures, and Marissa's healing spells will play across all aspects of the assault. Secondly, I agree with Crimson. Not only would fighting in the crypts put us in a bottle neck, but few of us are armed with silver weaponry, and a vampire bite can often prove much more devastating than any Dremora's axe." Turning to Abbot Diane he asks her, "Lui and I can bestow upon the group a number of potions - I have some skill in the art, and a monk is bound to have left his mortar somewhere in this place. Perhaps you too could provide us with more." Facing now all those present he adds, "We must also collect any silver weapons we can find, as, should the vampires come to reinforce the Daedra, the blades will be a great asset to our cause." On the verge of plunging into the battle already, Tiramir concluded he could be of best use in his alchemy, and as he leaves to find an apparatus, he motions Crimson and Frouth to begin the search of armaments.

This was my orginal plan, however, I just added a few changes. Please comment so we can improve it - this is quite a ruff (and brutish) form of strategy and it needs to be refined...

QUOTE
Though satisfied with what he perceived to be a solid battle plan, Tiramir was disturbed by the sudden thought of what would happen, should the Daedra forces prove to be too powerful. A massacre, that’s what... Fortunately, the thought occurred to him that by simply integrating a level of subterfuge into their assault, such a doom might be evaded. "After analyzing my initial ideas, I would like to make two major additions. Firstly, any form of chameleon or cloak will be invaluable as, during our crawl along the northern wall, we will be helpless before enemy fire. Secondly, and perhaps more difficult to execute of the two, is an undercover pair. Two persons who will approach the enemy’s defensive position with stealth, hoping to warn the direct attackers of hazards, as well as to perhaps cause a certain level of confusion just before the attack strikes." Hoping his insights had improved their chances of success, Tiramir awaited the thoughts and actions of his companions.

Here's the second part - an attempt at including some secrecy into our assault.
elftor
we could always try a flanking maneuver. the mages go for the wall with shield spells and summoned creatures. the enemy thinks that is our force and we are scaling the walls. if we put enough pressure on them comming from the wall they'll call up reserves from the crypt. then the fighters, which do better in bottlenecks because they are protected on three sides, can make thier way through the crypt and flank the enemy.

"Darak, what do your elven eyes see?"
[ooc]someone just HAD to work that quote in huh? Man thats got to be the lamest line from LotR =)[/ooc]

Actually, I like quoting, as long as it fits in the context, like in this case. rolleyes.gif
Anyway, I hid a major quote in one of my previous post as well. Can anybody find it? wink.gif

aridale
oh its not quoting its THAT particular line that flies all over me. I hated that line.. just that line... =P
nielsmajere
Ha-ha, sorry, I just felt that with a quote like that, it a.) fits the contest, b.) brings out a chuckle at times, and c.) gives everyone the sense that we're true heroes. Either way, if it annoyed you that much, it's not too difficult to edit out...
aridale
lol poo no man dont edit it. its not your use of it that annoys me its just how it was in the movie that annoys me so when its quoted it reminds me of that part in the movie =)

whoa... word filter! made me say poo!
nielsmajere
(this post has been edited out due to its irrelevance)
Malchik
Be kind to your team members, nielsmajere, although I agree a request to learn the rules is in order. I will in fact edit my post in a moment but I have posted several times elsewhere that you can only say what you TRY to do. The success or otherwise of any action is for the DM, in this case me, to say. This holds true for ALL rpgs. Laurie is new to rpg and sometimes we have all learned the hard way. So Laurie I will let you get out alive, though not unharmed this time. The rest of the party I will not penalise. But please don't post for the DM or your team members (as with the levitation). I know you are trying to help by moving things along but it's not considered acceptable rp behaviour. To get things moving post in the OT thread, kick ass there as much as you like. Personally I find an RPG more fun when I don't know what's going to happen when I try some clever idea or other.
nielsmajere
Laurie... after reading Malchik's post, and taking into account this is probably your first time - I apologize. However, it was more the repetitive occurrence of those posts that got to me. Thanks again Malchik for showing mercy, and a hearty sorry on my part.
aridale
Ok guys were at the final moments. The moment of truth is upon us. It says in the thread we have time enough for a rapid whispered conversation and thats it before the poo hituth the fanuth so to speak one way or the other. I REALLY hope you all see this thread before you post in the one where it all counts. Please lets talk out what were gonna do HERE before we do anything THERE.
nielsmajere
I was intending to summon a powerful daedra (such as an Ogrim) with one of my scrolls, between the thrown and the object. I feel this would cause the greatest deal of confusion, allowing me the time necesarry to make my way to the device and do what must be done. Everyone else please post your plans here first.
Gamer 666
Ilutivar can try to kill the leader approaching to the centre before you summon your Ogrim. The death of the leader will cause great confusion and disorganisation. After his death we should continue attacking by Tiramir's plan.
Laurie
I was planning to use on paralysis scroll on the big beast, the one I presume is the leader, and hoped everybody would reproduce whatever summoned beasts that they could to increase our numbers. In the confusion caused by all the throw objects with the help of some of the other warrior types attack the beast to prevent it from getting to the device.
Gamer 666
O.K. then - you will paralyse it and I will shoot it with my bow.
Laurie
Sounds like a good idea
nielsmajere
First, does anyone know what the white "tag" on the Cursed Monastery thread means? It's not on the others. More importantly however, Darak's idea of a drop attack, combined with the flaming arrow should prove effective. Frouth, I believe your frost blade and my spells should be adequate in dispatching the 3 Atronachs Malchik mentioned. Should we decide on that, our next action would be to cause as much panic and confusion amongst the Daedra as possible. My own Ogrim (or similar Daedra) will be particularly helpful in this, as he will lead many of the Daedra to believe they are fighting each other. Any more thoughts?...

the Crimson Blades, from the old Daggefall days.

Ahhh, so that's where it came from. That's interesting, because I did actually do a bit of research in an attempt to find some information about them, but both the Imperial Library and the Official Elder Scrolls Lore thread yielded nothing (keep in mind their search engines are not of the highest caliber). By the way, I'd happily continue with you in these or other threads.
Gamer 666
O.K. then. I will cover you back while you kill the antronaches.

I have a little desktop for you. Can you elftor, Darak, Marrisa and Frouth make your pictures in HeroMachine 2.0 so I can combine them in a CURSED MONASTERY TEAM DESKTOP. (the link is www.ugo.com

PM me the pictures.
This is a low qality pictutre, but it will be better quality when I complete it with all characters.

This what I've done so far:
[attachmentid=2330]
nielsmajere
Hmmm, didn't seem to work. Could you perhaps post it as an attachment rather than a download. Great idea though biggrin.gif !
nielsmajere
After looking around, I noticed the white tag was on the threads I had posted in. Said question answered.
Gamer 666
It doesn't work. The image is to big. Are you sure that it doesn't work because I can download it with no problem.
nielsmajere
Yes, it comes up with an error message (the file cannot be found). Try resizing and lowering the quality of the image in Photoshop. Otherwise, email it to me at <email removed for privacy reasons> and I'll see what I can do.
Laurie
I still think that paralysing the big boss monster would be a good idea to at least slow him down while Darak and Ilutivar attack him and Frouth and Tiramir attack and hopefully dispatch the 3 Atronachs. Summoning the extra Daedra should cause more chaos amongst the enemy, the more chaos the merrier.
Lui and Marissa could be throwing magic form the door area. That sounds like plenty of chaos to enable Darak and Itulivar to do the main killing of the leader monster.

I cannot get the picture up and I do not know how the produce the picture Gammer 666 wants and I do not have
nielsmajere
Although paralyzing the Ogrim would be great, knowing role-playing and the little I can predict of Malchik, it would fail/be resisted, and whoever cast it would lose their turn. As for the photo I'm leaving tomorrow for a school trip and won't be back for a week, otherwise I might have worked on it. Good luck if you guys finnish the thread, it was great fun teaming with you all!

(By the way, you have my full permision to move me around, preferably on the basis of the plans we've already made)
Gamer 666
I'll try to resize the picture later. This is the real link to HeroMachine 2.0:HeroMachine 2.0
After you make your picture, you must capture the screen then cut the picture out, save it as jpg. image and mail it to me.

Not a bad idea tryin to use all our pics in a wallpaper. Lookin at the link in the zip file it looks like its not workin for everyone else because your trying to link to the file on your computer not to a file on the internet. For us to be able to see it you need to upload it first.

As for the battle: I dont really think the paralysis will work either, on anything in the room. Its all high to higher end daedra and some vampires. All should be immune to such effects.

I can do one of two things in this and whichever is fine with me.
Try to sneak over to the throne and help melee the ogrim or
Help draw the attention of the daedra and/or vampires leaving the ogrim alone.

Doesnt really matter to me whichever you guys want.
Gamer 666
I know this may sound stipid, but just how do I upload things?
aridale
go make you a photobucket.com account you can upload images to it and link em anywhere on the internet thats your best bet and its free.
