i wanted to make a new charecter, but, being the idiot with electronics that i am, i found that i cant do a single thing, especialy make a race. Can anyone at LEAST tell me the first step?

From the menu bar, Character > Race, then click New. Type in the name of your race in the box that appears.

Then go through and set the characteristics of your new race. Then go into "Body Part" in the Object Window and create a full set of... well... for your new race to use (otherwise, all you'll see is spooky animated clothes and armor with nobody inside them!) The easiest way to do this is click on a part's ID, such that it gets a little rectangle around it and a cursor appears. Change the ID, and you'll be asked if you want to create a new object. Say "Yes". Then double-click on the new object and change the race association.
