This thread is for discussion on the computer games you're currently playing, what you like about them, whether it's worth getting, et cetera.
Dark0ne
I've just bought CS:Source and DOD:Source. I only wanted DOD: Source but thought I might get CS:Source for when the DOD server I play on is empty. Ugh, this could be bad.

Other than that I'm currently playing UFO: Aftershock which is the closest modern game to the X-COM series as far as I'm concerned. If you like X-COM, get Aftershock.
loveme4whoiam
I'm currently playing (my sidebar notwithstanding) N, which is a Flash platform game that is wickedly addictive (the level designer is both Satan and Jebus Himself), and Battalion, an online conversion of Advance Wars, I'm given to understand. It's alot of fun, and free to boot.

I tell you, when I get my new PC I'm locking myself in a room with the best games of the past six months and not leaving. I shall have my meals delivered through a hole in the wall, and I shall train rats to entertain me when my eyes feel like they're going to melt. PC game withdrawl symptoms are harsh...

Currently attempting to play:

* Counterstrike Source: my main fps. Say what you want about the lack of teamwork, but people online are idiots in general who couldn't work as a team to save their lives. So it's good fun deathmatch with countless sub-30-ping servers to play on. Unfortunately, it also has a nice bug right now that's showing me tons of servers, but all but 15% of them fail to connect.

Currently playing:

* Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates. The game that never gets old.

* Diablo 2: for when you just have to randomly kill absurd hordes of monsters. My lvl 87 amazon and lvl 85 melee-sorceress laugh at even the lords of hell themselves.

Currently wanting to play, but waiting to buy at a lower price:

* Call of Duty 2. The first was fun. The demo of the second is even more fun. Making the rabid idiot hordes actually use iron sights and careful aim is pricelss. I look forward to many more enjoyable hours of point-blank bolt-action kills on the PPSH bunny-hoppers, and cross-map sniping. I love my un-scoped mosin nagant.

Have any of you guys looked at http://www.warrock.net/ or http://www.gunzonline.com/ ??

On PC I'm currently playing X3: Reunion... which actually seems to be an improvement on its predecessor. Yes the strain on the system is still ridiculous; even on medium shaders/models, no glow, no AA and no AF, I still get laggy FPS in places with my system. Especially if I try to enter cloudy areas. Which seems a bit nutty. Ore Belt is a lag pit. But the gameplay has improved, with a simplified interface (woot) and the option to play separately just as a trader, or assassin etc with storyline turned off (no Khaak, joy!). You can even make your own custom modes by the looks of it, which is sweet. Currently messing around with trader... could never get a grip for trading beyond energy cells in X2 (which, as has been said, seem to unbalance the economy). It's still pretty much the same in X3, unfortunately... but it's still fun. And combat is actually enjoyable now, with decent weapons fire and explosions... always a plus. biggrin.gif

I also played around a bit with Genji on the PS2 - seriously worth picking up if you're looking for a simple, but stylish action game. It's easy, it's short, but the gameplay is extremely satisfying. Better even maybe than the Devil May Cry series. Demon Stone, by comparison, and generally, is awful. Don't touch it. Don't make eye contact. Just walk away. Advice I would give for most Forgotten Realms games really. tongue.gif

I actually even played CSI dark motives >hangs head in shame< to relieve my Oblivion-less depression. It lasted two days >bangs forehead against Switch's third desk repeatedly<

Currently playing: Morrowind (again). I keep coming back to it, it's just *so* obsessive. I never get bored, with all these mods coming out.

Planning to play some more: EVE Online, as soon as I get my bank account up and running.
Faust_87
Currently Playing: Morrowind (Yet again!) This is my first time however playing Morrowind on a PC... before this it was always Xbox... now I can use the console incase something messes up smile.gif I'm excited...

Doom 3, I also beat this on Xbox, but now that I have a computer that can run it on Ultra settings, I thought it would be best if I were to beat it yet again... I've realized that they took certian events out on the Xbox version...

Far Cry, I quit playing this for awhile due to how bloody hard it got later in the game... hopefully sometime in the next week or so I get around to finishing it... I don't believe to much of the game is left.

Diablo 2, I've been attempting to play this yet again... I lost my illegal character account so that was a little disappointing... ~~Faust~, and ~~Freeze~ sad.gif... I even got offered $200 US for my ~~Faust~ account when I had my level 91 Hammerdin sad.gif... RIP D2 account haha...

Which server do you play on? I'm on USEAST non-ladder, might be able to give you some basic items, and can definitely give you all the rushes/quest help you could ever need.
Dark0ne
I was thinking about playing D2 again but am unsure. It's something I'd like to go through with with a couple of friends right from the offset first, complete the game, then start doing Bail runs et cetera. IIRC I had a level 63 legit hammerdin before I left last time.

I've just started playing Freelancer again now. Playing on the jolt.co.uk servers.
Switch
Still poking around on X3 here but it's starting to get tedious (as X-Universe games usually do with me). Buy sell buy sell buy sell buy sell... argh. tongue.gif Playing the Star Wars: Empire at War demo recently and I'm actually very impressed. I don't fancy paying out the £33-odd they're asking for it on release but once the price goes down I daresay I'll get it. (Unless Oblivion has been released by then of course heheh).

Also playing Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube... which isn't bad. Anyone who likes JRPGs might appreciate this. Early on it just looks like a blatant rip-off of other JRPG storylines (FF10 in particular) but it is starting to get a few original points to it now that I'm about 15 hours in. The battle system is very nice... full real time and with quite a bit of timing/combinations involved. A bit tricky to get hold of at first though.

I also play on USEast, however, I play ladder sad.gif.. A couple of my friends and I are actually trying to play through the entire game...without rushing and getting all of the 'uber' items...what is your account name? I'll add you to my friends list happy.gif

Hell I'll play non-ladder... doesn't matter to me.. I'm just sick of playing with a lot of the people in the random games I join... it'd be fun to play with someone I 'semi' know... and I'm not on much either, I just bought a new computer and got morrowind tongue.gif So thats taking up my time... I've said it a hundred times!! NO MORE Xbox GLITCHES! I HAVE THE CONSOLE NOW!!!

I'm currently playing old games, like games you need dosbox for. Oldies, and some which are less old, but still quite old. smile.gif I've just finished Bermuda Syndrome, which i played when i was very young, and i loved playing it again and recognising stuff from so long ago. Unfortunately it had some error not making it show the cutscenes, so the game crashes every time i beat the end boss. That sux dry.gif

I'm also playing the original roller coaster tycoon again, which is simply a nice game happy.gif
Switch
I'm currently playing... Animal Crossing. Yes, it's rather humiliating and de-masculinating to play. But I finally got sucked into buying it having heard people rave about the excellent gameplay, and surely enough... for some reason it's damn addictive. o.O

*Puts a sticker over the 3+ age rating* ; ;

hahaha...don't worry switch,... I've never played it,... but I've always wanted too... I've only heard good things about it...

I've been playing Quake 4... its not to bad... just another pointless first person shooter... something to fill the time until the release of Oblivion!! Yay march 20th smile.gif
Hammer_head

I am currently playing Lineage, Shadowbane, Guild Wars and AO ... all free except Lineage, for which we also have purchased ingame money. We constantly stand ready to play D2 & Delta Force 2 & Black Hawk Down. I was supposed to do a Beta Test the same weekend that Oblivion came out ... but I blew it off, been playing Oblivion ever since.

Put Morrowind, Tribunal & Bloodmoon over on my win98 side of my hard drive - thus keeping lots of w2k space for Oblivion & modding for it. TESIII now joins Arena & Daggerfall over on the 98 side - so you can say I'm pretty Bethesda'd-up. heheheh
karkarinus
Now and again I get all retro and play old text adventures for the BBC B. Yeah, sad isn't it? Currently replaying Primal on PS2 and just finished Metroid Prime 2 on GC.

Baraka
Sometimes I get all female feeling and play Tomb Raider (I have original Lara and even a movie snipet of the original British model who was going to play Lara Croft {if anyone's interested - pm me for it} but wasn't up to the antics that Anjolina could pull off so effortlessly - didn't you love her balancing the shrine log? - - as well as the dark-haired Jolie inspired game heroine).

I also sometimes still play Catwoman and guess I'll never tire of NOLF = No One Lives Forever , I stll have to purchase or DL the sequel of Nolf tho.

But I just deleted all of my other games except Lineage, which I've payed for this month & Guild Wars, which I always play from my w2k side of my harddrive to make enough room for Oblivion and modding for it. I moved the 3-part Morrowind over to the 98 part of my hard drive ... so I've really streamlined for Oblivion.

And now I am sitting here at the forums so much because I am awaiting my computer upgrades in the mail that are going to allow me to play Oblivion without lag. But, I am getting to watch my hubby play ... so my whistle is indeed whetted! ohmy.gif
Peregrine
Currently playing EVE-Online, the first MMORPG I've actually liked. I've finally got my skills up and discovered the complete ownage that missile cruisers can be, so naturally I have to spend plenty of time blowing stuff up!
Baraka
Peregrine, who are your favorite race in Eve? I loved the Amarr stations - all gold and glowwy - until I saw the Galente ships .... now I must play a Galente the next time I re-up. I have had a battleship but I prefer miners - very large ones. I forget the names now, I would have to ask the hubano .... who is only communicating "Ummmm....?" as he slashes & bashes his way through the Oblivion Arenas .... up & up the bloody ramps with character after character... tongue.gif
Peregrine
Playing as a Caldari character... right now I'm flying a Caracal, and greatly enjoying sniping NPCs with the heavy missiles. I hadn't even seen the "omg missiles = overpowered noob weapon" posts on the forum before picking them, I just like missile ships in general, even when they aren't the best.

In the future (yay months of training time), I've got a plan of stealth bomber -> recon ship -> command battlecruiser for the final endgame goal. I'll be that support guy that everyone wants to have on their side (who doesn't want +20% shields, +20 resist all, +20% ecm strength, just for having me parked in a nice safe spot in the same system?), with some nice combat power to back it up.
Baraka
We have a new game we are currently playing now - Dungeons & Dragons. I am playing the 7 day trial and Cain, my hubby, enjoyed his 7 day trial so much that he has purchased the boxed game and now I get a free month on a guest code pass. Very sweet!

It's a good game...could have a few more character races in my opinion. But perhaps they are saving that for expansions. Kobolds seem to be the main enemy in the game so far. But I am at the lower levels with my 3 characters I've made - an Elf cleric, a Dwarf paladin and a Human sorcerer.
DeathmatchTheTitan
Playing C....just look at at my side bar.

I am currently playing Guild Wars and Oblivion biggrin.gif

I do play The Sims 2 on gamecube and Odama once and a while.
Waiting for The Legend of Zelda The Twilight Princess.Want a Revoulotin.I also like Quake three on PS2. laugh.gif

Just bought "Gun" for the 'Cube for €10, so I'll be looking at that tonight.

Gave up on NwN some time ago, though I can't quite remember why! unsure.gif Waiting for the re-release of Baldur's Gate 2 in a couple of months (I think)..........

Guess you won't be interested in the tasy-looking new sequel Stampede tongue.gif

I'm currently subjugated the Illyrians in Rome: Total Realism mod for RTW. I have plans to expand into Thrace and mayeb Macedon, thanks to a strong naval blockade keeping Carthage well and truly bankrupt biggrin.gif Arm-chair generalling is fun cool.gif

I might, to be honest, I hardly play games anymore (too busy with illustration) but I will definitely check out some info about it. The premise behind the original NWN was great, until the split between Bioware and Black Isle.
karkarinus
"Gun" is actually quite good fun so far. And I just uninstalled NwN to make space on my hard drive, which can't be a good sign! unsure.gif Kept all my savegames just in case, though!

I was tempted to buy the sequel the other day for €12, in the hope that it would be better, but I can't help thinking that Shadows of Amn is more worthwhile. The frustration of not having complete control over all the PCs is just too much! NwN was such a god idea, as Stampede says, but just doesn't do it for me like BG did. Even so, NwN is not as bad as Peregrine says - I still think the Final Fantasy series is much worse!

Karkarinus, Your Itsy-bitsy userbar sig thing is the friend of forum peoples everywhere!

Anyway, since Oblivion refuses to play on my PC anymore and my Morrowind CD got EATEN by it, I've decided to stop resisting the temptations and I'm going to reactivate my EVE account.

So there.

Meh right now i'm in between games smile.gif

Bought Civ4 bout august time, and have been playin that on and off, and if anyone wants to know, it is a pretty damn good game. Was playin Oblivion up until then, which i completed, and before that it was mostly Morrowind.

However, during playing these games i have picked up quite a few other games at not to unreasonable prices, such as Rise of Nations Rise of Legends which is kind of a cross between risk and age of empire (thats a crap explanation sorry), BF2 - no explanation needed smile.gif , SimCity4 with the add-on, and ann amazing pack which i picked up from pc world brand new which had, get this, Hitman (the newest one) Prince of Persia Sands of Time, Splinter CCell Pandorra Tomorrow, some Toca race driver 2, FAR CRY which is deffo worth a look and deus ex invisible war which is also worth a look.

Im currently in the market for Diablo 2 + expansion, so if anyone can help me with where to get it cheap...

biggrin.gif

Currently i'm playing around with MUGEN..

i've been playing alot lately, finalfantasy X on ps2, wwe smackdown vs raw 2007 on ps2,
oblivion on pc, evil genius on pc, and LOTR battle for middle earth 2 on pc.

yep been playing all those, not at the same time obviously. There all fun
Abramul
Tried Legends, didn't much like it. Probably will play again, sometime.

Been playing a fair amount of Enemy Territory. The server I normally use is mostly empty most of the time, but it has bots.
ninja_lord666
I am currently playing Baldur's Gate. It is a REAL rpg. I'm also playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
Paul Emil
I generally play Oblivion on weeknights, but often I play Dark Crusade, (working my way through the Imperial Guard campaign at the moment. Gods I love Baneblades). However, after my A2 exams, I'll go on a spending spree at Amazon. I would have got Supreme Commander ages ago, but the local GAME store never has it glare.gif
ninja_lord666
I finished Baldur's Gate (but not Zelda dry.gif ) so now, I'm busy with Icewind Dale II. It is, in my opinion, better than Baldur's Gate. However, Baldur's Gate had a better selection of enchanted helmets and bracers. I'm playing as a team of truly evil people. I even stole gold from little children laugh.gif .
My team consists of:

Lord Karvid:
>Leader
>Chaotic evil human (with yuan-ti blood) fighter
>Prefers a long sword and shield with heavy armour
Bio (roughly):
Lord Karvid is the ruler of a long forgotten estate east of Luskan. He spent his days in his manor, but felt the need for adventure. When the call went out for swords to aid Targos, he left to seek fame...or infamy. However, he doesn't like the idea of *helping* them.

Lady Luvia:
>Neutral evil human (with yuan-ti blood) fighter
>Prefers a great sword or a bow with heavy armour
>Wife of Lord Karvid

Kithleen:
>Neutral evil drow cleric (Dreadmaster of Bane)
>Prefers a quarterstaff with heavy armour
>Long time friend of Lady Luvia
>Invited herself to come with
>God complex

Keira:
>Neutral evil human (with yuan-ti blood) rouge
>Prefers a bow or dual wielding short swords with light armour
>Daughter of Lord Karvid and Lady Luvia
>Snuck off to follow parents after they told her to stay behind

Habdaz:
>Lawful evil moon elf wizard
>Prefers a quarterstaff with robes
>Friend of Lord Karvid's father
>Tutor of Keira
>Followed Keira to make sure she didn't get into trouble

Rashiid:
>Chaotic evil human sorcerer
>Prefers a short sword and shield with robes
>Unknown mage already aboard the Wicked Wench when Lord Karvid and Lady Luvia arrived
>Strangely agreed to help Lord Karvid

I am currently at the dreaded Fell Woods...I'm lost sad.gif

I've also made a good aligned party, but I'm not sure if I'll do anything with them...the beginning is too long and boring...
karkarinus
Currently not playing very much at all, but I have recently been back on the consoles for a while, while my PC has been "otherwise engaged."

1) Zelda: Twilight Princess - Finished. Very good, but not quite up to OOT's standard
2) Shadow of the Colossus - Too crap to be bothered with. Quit after 4 Colossi
3) Driver: Parallel Lines - Quite a laugh, but not a patch on GTA
Switch
Let's see, currently...

Final Fantasy 12: It's the twelfth. And I still enjoy it. Why do I never get tired of these? The dialogue/character interaction leaves something to be desired over the previous offerings however (not counting 10-2 *shudder*).

Star Wars: Republic Commando: Delivering shiney death to droids and trandoshans while directing my squadmates to toss grenades around/snipe stuff/whatever. One of the funnest SP FPS experiences I've had. biggrin.gif

D'oh. And it is. It didn't sell very well but that doesn't represent the quality of the gameplay. ^^ You could always get it for the PC I suppose. I got it as a part of the Best of PC pack which includes a number of other spiffy titles such as Empire at War and KotOR.

Medieval 2: Total War.

OMG!!!

That about sums up how much I am enjoying this game.

Currently, in my (err...how many is it now? lets use algerbra!) nth (where n is number of time played) the Venicians have conquered most of Italy, North Africa, The Iberian Penisular and southern Europe.
