Thor.
Hey does anyone know if there are any programable remotes for pc's that can turn your pc off with a touch of a button, or play music and stuff away from your pc. I wonder if there is a such a thing, is there?.

Windows Media Center PCs are supposed to have remotes to control aspects of media selection and playback. Not sure about power on/off.

Hmm, i guess i have to do some more research on that.

hey i found somethng, the ps3 has something simular, its a bluetooth device and it'll allow you to turn the ps3 on and off.

now if there was something like this for the pc that would something, its big but it does the job.

i know %100 u "can" turn them off with a media centre remote because u can use the D-pad to control ur mouse on the desktop. how ever u might still have to stand up to turn it back on again wink.gif

turning it on is not a problem for me, but if i am on my couch i would like to be able to turn it off, whenever. I guess thats just me being lazy lol.

the basement living area is next to my room, so i could just point and click, lol its awsome having a basement room, its huge thumbsup.gif .

i spoke to my friend that has a MCE remote, and knows a bit about comps in general =

you "can" turn off your computer by holding the windows button or selecting the options to shut down,

theres an option inside the media centre itself, and obviously on your start bar.

the only way you can turn it off and on is to go into standby + wake up mode.

the windows button brings up the options to shut down, log off, stand by etc.

he said as far as he knows theres nothing that can turn on a pc via usb ( the reciever is usb 2.0 ) without messing about with your bios.

hope that helps.

Lets hope someone invents one ah thumbsup.gif

well i guess i could get a wireless laser mouse that could work on any serface, like my usb one, that can be good idea, instead.

yeah just be carefull with those due to range. its definatly worth while measuring the distance then buying one that covers it +2m.

and logitech B/S on their ranges. ive bought 2 mx's now that both went to about 1.5m then dropped dead. even tho the site says 5m+ on one of them o.0

another option is a wireless kayboard. i know its not as small as a remote but its an option. u can get em pretty cheap as well.

your best option to turn your comp off remotley, without spending a penny is leave the room, wait for your friend\family memeber\partner to enter that room then shout =

"hey ** can you turn off my comp for me please i think i left it on, thanks!"

** = insert friend\family memeber\partner's name here.

I am going to do the mouse idea, but with my setup the button is kind of hard to see in both win 7and xp, but it'll work.

It partly depends on which phone and software you've got.
My previous phone, that is more than...7 years old, had bluetooth and a remote option.
I could (actually still can) use it as a mouse on my desktop, using the joystick that was on it.
My father had a similar phone and we had quite some fun with laugh.gif as we both could use it.

maybe after a little search you could use it as well. You'd need bluetooth on your pc though.
But I highly doubt you don't have it on your mobile already (bluetooth) and that there isn't some software on the web.

Lol, just tested and it works in win7 wink.gif.

hmm, there must be some sort of bluetooth device thats not a phone u can buy fairly cheap to turn on + off the comp?
